I really like Bright Tangerine and their series of light-weight Matte Boxes but alas with a price point approaching a grand (here in the UK) they are a tad out of my price range.
I began with looking at some other light-weight solutions - filter holders, shades, lens hoods and eyebrows and found a couple of alternatives. I'm not saying these are more versatile or durable than BT's Matte Box solutions but I thought I'd share none the less
1. 100mm Lucroit Holder w/ Flags
2. NiSi 100mm Filter Holder w/ Dinkum Systems Flare (Flag)
What are your thoughts of these two systems and do you have any suggestions?
I don't think Canon would release anything beyond the capabilities of the new Sony A7s. But this doesn't matter because we have the Sony A7s :)
I'm sure there will be even better options in the near future too. Just keep your eyes peeled!
Hi everyone,
I've recently bought some Zeiss ZF glass for my 5D III and instead of getting an adapter I'd rather have the mount changed. I came across these three UK based companies and wondered if anyone has had experience with them?
Alex
How about Duclos modded Zeiss lenses. Buy um 2nd hand (Nikon mount) then send um off to Duclos (Or TLS in the UK). I'm doing the same and have been recommended the 21mm, 35mm (f2), 50mm (f2), 85mm and 100mm.
Is there any loss in quality using a ZF lens on a Canon body via an adapter?
Would having a mount professionally switched using a company like Duclos in the U.S or TLS in the UK, be any better?
Alex
Okay great, thanks Andrew. My bench marks are now showing that buffer=16384k is about 91MB/s with global draw off. With global draw on it's 76MB/s.
Is this still too slow?
:(
I've bought 5 Komputerbay 1000x 64gb cards and I've currently been doing benchmark tests all day.
One was DOA. The results with the others I'm getting aren't too great to be honest. The best performance from one of the cards at buffer=16384k was 88 MB/s.
The tests were conducted in movie mode, 1920x1080 25p, global draw on (Focus peak).
Am I performing the test correctly? VRAM9.BMP
I read in order to get a reliable indiction of whether your CF is up to scratch you must perform the test with Live view on in Movie mode.
I have tried performing the test but the screen turns black (power saving mode) and live view switches off. Is the test still going on??
Also when I open the CF card I get a Bench.TMP file. - Does anyone know how to open this on Mac?
EDIT: Figured this out. I had to disable auto-power off in setup menu 1.
Hi Andrew,
I'm about three quarter way through the book now. It's great!
Regarding transferring data between CF & SD in camera - If I bought a 600x 64gb SD would it take long to transfer the data to from the CF, during a shoot?
This would be great for space & costs etc.
Thank you
