Plus an honorary mention for Nikon for runner up "most improved", they're mid pack (not great... but not bad either). Where you to suggest that outcome for Nikon an a hardcore filmmaking tech enthusiasts website, you'd have got laughed at.

The good news is that the "normal FoV" native lens to replace your 35mm is the Panasonic 25mm f1.7 which is very cheaply priced.

I've heard though the Fuji X Mount version isn't swappable? Which is MADNESS! If true. (thus might be better to buy them in swappable E Mount? Perhaps)

I wondered that too, are us original BMPCC users too old now and being forgotten? And the URSA Mini has taken the industry by storm, it deserves it own category. RED has waaaaaaaaay too many cameras to be mentioned each individually! But I reckon they could have been covered easily in three broad categories: 1) Dragon sensor 2) older than Dragon 3) newer than Dragon

Was odd how the step from GH2 to GH3 wasn't THAT massive (I guess some people might have thought it was?). Likewise the GH1 to GH2 step up I don't think was huge either. I used to have a theory that Panasonic was going on a cycle with the GH series of alternative "BIG improve" vs "small improvement". (thus after the big splash of the GH5, I'd expect the GH6 to be a smaller improvement, before the GH7 which would then be massive) Then the GH5 came out and made a big splash, ruining my theory by breaking the pattern! As it followed up so strongly after the GH4, which had itself made a big impact.

Even Northrup videos will take hours and hours to make I'm afraid. (many of my quick and dirty sh*tty youtube videos that I do myself for "Sound Speed!" could still be around an hour each once you add up every little aspect, and they're about as terrible as you can get when it comes to minimal effort put into them)

You could sell your a6500 on eBay and get a Panasonic G85 instead on eBay and even come out a little ahead. The Sony 35mm f1.8 is a cheap APS-C lens they make for their cameras, so even if sold at a loss, you shouldn't be losing too much. (ditto the speedbooster sale) Yes, the G85 is "only 8bit", but so is your a6500, so you wouldn't be moving backwards. Just something to think about. You could run for that setup for say a year or so, by then the GH6 will have been announced and been out for half a dozen months (perhaps). And GH5 prices then will have seen a massive dump in prices on ebay I'd hope, and you should be able to pick up a GH5 body for well under $1K You'd grab a GH5, and your G85 becomes the perfect B Cam to your new GH5!

Main cameras: My cellphone (shameful, but true), Panasonic G6, Fujifilm X-A3. Cameras used, but less often: Sony PMW-F3, Nikon D5200, OG BMPCC (plus a zillion older cameras just sitting on the shelf) Same, don't think I'll ever sell my GH1!

I feel like this is the MAJOR missing opportunity that all the camera companies are missing out on. Open up their cameras to the maximum extent, let people put any of their own apps on it. Just look at how much better smartphones are than the "feature phones" which went before them! Who'd buy today a "smartphone" which can't install any new apps?? @Mattias Burling should do the Barbie Cam as well one day.

Fundamentally your camera is one of the worst for rolling shutter though, is it worth it?

Yeah, deprecation seems to have stopped/slowed down for now. I had noticed them go down to US$650ish, and I was getting all ready to buy them soon.... just wait for a bit cheaper! Only to see prices bounce up recently to US$800ish+ Oh well ?

I'm placing my bets on 1917 as well.

These are two of the Fuji lenses I hope and dream of getting: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1321239-REG/fujinon_fujinon_mk18_55mm_t2_9_lens.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1321240-REG/fujinon_fujinon_mk50_135mm_t2_9_lens.html (the mounts are adaptable) And if I could pick one more.... this (mount isn't swappable however): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/895225-REG/fujinon_19_90mm_t2_9_cabrio_pl.html It must be a popular starting kit, B&H sells them as a package all together: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1460561-REG/fujifilm_xf_50mm_35mm_and.html I see the Viltrox 85mm autofocus lens is already available for X Mount: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1469188-REG/viltrox_pfu_rbmh_85mm_f1_8_stm_x_e_mount_85mm_f_1_8_for_fuji.html/DFF/d10-v21-t1-x954300/SID/EZ

It was claimed to be there at launch. But honestly I'd rather get a cheaper FS5 mk1 on eBay (you're not missing much, the mk2 launch was one of the most disappointing mk2 launches in recent camera history), constantly tempted to do so once their price started to be within a thousand ish bucks of a FS700. (arrrghhh... but my will power is staying strong! Even though I distract myself by looking up other different cameras on eBay instead.... have you guys noticed how cheap the Panasonic FZ2500/FZ1000 are? :-o The FZ100 is going to be cheap enough for the next ultra low budget camera challenge!)

Would've been faster to just have said to him "Ok boomer"

The importance of lens rendering / look at slower apertures

Was going to give the F65 as a counter example... but never mind! The Sony F65 came out in 2012

Almost never use Flickr myself, but there doesn't seem to be a way to sort them by number of favorites, comments, or views? Would be one metric for figuring out the "best performing" lenses. -
Could leave all my ND filters at home I think if only I could shoot at ISO 1
-
Because you have 4K for when you need it (or you got the camera 1st for the stills performance anyway, which is a very likely scenario), but you have plenty of scenarios when you do 1080 with it. Just like heaps of people buy a Sony FS7 only to shoot it half the time in 1080
-
Fascinating! But I don't know of any camera that can shoot at ISO 1
