  1. You forgot to mention Z Cam E2 / E2C / S6!
  2. He said sub $200, that's over $200 And I can see it has some basic flaws, like using nonlocking connectors.
  3. Unfortunately they made a change which was one of the biggest pros in favor of Veydra lenses..... the swappable mounts! ?
  4. Sound Devices Announces the 888 Portable Production Mixer: https://www.sounddevices.com/product/888/ There's a helpful 8-series comparison chart here for the key differences between the 833, 888, and Scorpio: https://www.sounddevices.com/8-series-comparison-chart/ Pricing for the 888 is $6995 which as you might expect fits between the $3995 for the 833 and the $8995 for the Scorpio. There are a few ways to look at the 888: 1) a much more expensive 833, with an extra fader (and an extra XLR input), plus also DANTE 2) a cut priced bargain Scorpio! My personal take is that I am VERY surprised that Sound Devices announced a recorder in between the 833 and Scorpio! Do I feel bad about making the "wrong" choice? Nope! Just look at these specs of the 888 vs 833: 1.83kg vs 1.25kg! :-o That is a 50% difference, I'll take the lighter bag please.
  5. Perhaps the Sony FS5 with the built in eND
  6. USA is losing 600MHz range That isn't in that Which of Azden's is sub $200?? The Azden WLX-PRO? I'd strongly recommend not buying it. Azden PRO-XD?? Ditto Vs which? This is worth a watch:
  7. Well, I don't have a 17mm prime! At the moment I'd have to either put my big and heavy Sigma zoom on my teeny MFT Camera for f1.8 (or go sloooooower with say a zoom like the 14-140! ha), or pick a focal length above or below 17mm
  8. For sub $200, you probably won't find better? But obviously if you spend more, there are much much better options out there.
  9. **Senal AWS-2000 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System Kit (A: 522 to 554 MHz), $199** https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1400696-REG/senal_aws_2000_a_advanced_wireless_microphone.html
  10. It is easily BY FAR the biggest downside of the Meike cine lenses vs the old Veydra lenses (which were very appealing!). Only one DX Z Mount camera however, the Nikon Z50 (which has got strangely very very little discussion on this forum???).
  11. There hasn't been a ruling yet, plus Tentacle operates in a different country to Zaxcom so perhaps they might have other options planned? (like simply not selling it in the USA!)
  12. He posted this thread in 2016 I'll let you do the math to figure out the odds which are the answer to your own question
  13. Except it isn't their "property", not from a moral standpoint (or from a reasonable common sense perspective).
  14. https://www.4kshooters.net/2019/10/23/laowa-17mm-f-1-8-mft-is-the-most-affordable-venus-optics-lens-yet/ I thought to myself, do I really need a 17mm fast prime for MFT? Not really, as mostly I shoot my vlogs either with the SLR Magic 8mm when handheld or the Panasonic 25mm when on a tripod. But then I saw the price: HUNDRED & FORTY NINE DOLLARS!! Gee, maybe I should I pick one up? Z-Cam E2 test footage by James Tonkin testing the Laowa 17mm f1.8 MFT lens: Laowa 17mm f1.8 MFT + DJI X5 on DJI Inspire 2 drone footage by Macgver Liu: Panasonic GH5S 4K 50p/60p by Steve Chan of DSI Pictures Entertainment: https://www.venuslens.net/product/laowa-17mm-f18-mft/
  15. It isn't even listed on their website yet https://tentaclesync.com/sync-e
  16. Still is a sad moment to hear of his retirement :-/
  17. I feel like you need to throw in a few more adapters there between the lens and the camera!
  18. Are you full time (or close ish to it) working as a Sound Recordist? Then get a Sound Devices 833 or Zaxcom Nova. Or maaaybe a Sonosax SX-R4+ (or maaaaaybe a secondhand 633 if on a tight budget) If you're not, and just dabbling in sound, then a Zoom F8n or MixPre6 Gen2 would still be an *awesome* choice to go with!
  19. Often gaming needs and video editing needs have a large overlap. There are tonnes and tonnes of builds and youtube videos discussing getting an old(er) server then sticking an appropriate modern graphics card in it to get a decent(ish) gaming machine on the cheap.
  20. Some people try to say they're not comparable, but I reckon in reality many people will indeed be choosing between the latest Sound Devices 833 or the new Zaxcom Nova Oh I screwed up! Once I realized how long I was talking for, and how quickly the sun set, I should have just cut and started again, but I really didn't want to re-start (especially as I'd already broken the seal on the box! And I'd hate to edit various parts together, I do prefer to just do a single one take) I'd probably prefer to keep the Zoom F8n? However, I am aware I probably have a strong bias towards the F series just because I've used them for so long (there is even things about the F series I prefer over the Sound Devices 833!). So maybe I'm not being totally fair to Zaxcom, and I should just use it for longer before judging it. (although I might not even get that many hours with Zaxcom under my belt because I'm not switching from F8n to Maxx now, but to an 833 instead!) Also another factor to consider is that it likely will be much easier for me to sell the F8n than the Maxx. Then again it is also cool to "own a Zaxcom", just one item.... as it is a major major brand I otherwise have nothing from. So another fact in favor of selling the F8n. Maxx / F8n are very similar in size. My F8n bag is bigger than my Maxx bag only because it is a bigger bag itself with more "stuff" in it. Heh, my 833 rig is currently smaller than my F8n rig! I'm having a change of heart lately about Orca bags, prefer to go slimmer and smaller. I wouldn't recommend buying a Maxx in late 2019 unless it is at a very good price. (however.... if you're interested in buying mine, please ignore that previous statement! haha) As for Nomad, I also wouldn't recommend a Nomad unless the price is very good. Be aware as well there many different Nomad versions. A Nomad 12 for instance I wouldn't pay more than around US$2.5K ish for. While a Nomad Lite would have to be under US$2K for me to begin to consider it. Buy Nova if you want to also buy a Zaxcom MRX414 with it (at least one, preferably buying two of them). Be aware if you wait just a few more weeks/months, so that Nova is shipping at volume, and fulfilling all orders, then secondhand Nomad prices will surely tumble even lower than we've already seen them go.
