    FS7 in 2019

I'm still feeling it is a good 50/50 odds as to if an a7S mk3 will even ever happen. Is nearly 4 years since the a7S mk2 was released. That is forever in camera tech terms. How many more years need to pass before people will finally give up hoping for an a7S mk3? https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sony-russia-manager-says-not-all-technologies-are-yet-ready-for-the-a7siii-and-expect-an-a65000-successor/

And it will remain a unicorn, I doubt Sony will even give us 10bit external in a mirrorless camera this year, let alone internal! Nope, not happening any time soon whatsoever. (meanwhile Panasonic has been giving that to us for YEARS!! How freaking old is the GH4 now??)
  3. You can easily buy an original Atomos Shogun for sub $1K! Heck, you could buy a new Atomos Shogun Flame for sub $1K brand new. Secondhand OG Shogun could be as little as $500, and it will record from the FS700! You combine this with a Sony FS700 for sub $1K as well, then good grief, that is hell of a combo for a very very temptingly low price! Sub $1K? How low? Did you get it for Andrew's sub $200 competition? ? An "FS3" doesn't exist, I wish it did! I think the only active FS700 community at the moment is the FS700 specific subforum on dvxuser, but even that is pretty empty.
  4. Took 2 seconds to look up and I found a thousand dollars adapter from Metabones: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1190615-REG/metabones_mb_ef_fz_bt1_canon_ef_to_sony.html Optitek has one for £1.5K: https://www.topteks.com/shop/lenses/lenses-lens-adaptors/optitek-fz-to-ef-adapter-fzefada/ Once you get into the cinema world then prices get to be crazy!
  5. That's money to develop the RED camera itself. But to develop the redmags themselves? That is not a team of eight engineers for a whole year, no way. You missed my point, if RED has merely tweaked a bit here or there then technically that is "custom firmware" but no reasonable person would believe the claim that is truly "customized firmware" in the honest sense. With how long his first video is, I bet if he had pressed record then instead of being a 14 minute video.... it would be a 14 hour long video of him talking about it! ha Well, that is why he is releasing this as a multi part series. So from his perspective at least, you can see a very good reason why he didn't press record. Yup, this entire saga has proved what liars RED are. Blatant liars with no shame whatsoever, them and their fanboys on reduser. Can we ever really truly believe that RED says and claims in future years? For me their statements will now always have a very big question mark over them

Go on and post it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/moviesetmemes/
  7. If you get a focal reducer then don't forget to also get a cheap dumb adapter as well, as they're worth having additionally!

Yeah, on forums we can go down rabbit holes of if X vs Y feature is "better", and thus if camera A "beats" camera B etc But the practical pragmatic realities is cameras like the Sony FS7 is a workhorse that will pay your bills day in day out. Sensible purchase! A Sony FS7 would 110% be on my short list to buy if I was still focused on the camera dept instead of sound. Also..... TIMECODE! Whoa! That is only US$4.5K, is rare I'll see them on eBay for that cheap. And to get it with some bonus accessories and almost mint with under 500hrs, what a bargain! I recommend looking into LC709a
  9. That would defeat the purpose of making them be uncoated. Oh there are more companies than just Leica who can charge those kinds of figures!
  10. On which point, I recommend people pop on over into the RED group and give Ed at bit of support in the comments as at the moment he is getting a lot of hate from the RED fanboy gang: https://www.facebook.com/groups/35666868707/permalink/10157567243643708/ Exactly! The Nvidia case makes a class action easier, not harder.
  11. I saw your post on the RED facebook group, I unfortunately give you a 50/50 chance of getting booted out! ? I've been banned from RED facebook groups for lesser "crimes".... But I wish you the best of luck!
  12. Someone is going on RED's naughty list this Christmas!
  13. He wasn't comparing it to a cheap Sony lens, but a very expensive E Mount lens:
  14. That MUST be satire Or about two decades old! (edit: wellllllllll... this was uploaded over a decade ago, I guess just perhaps this makes it "a little" better)
  15. That is rather speciest of you! Am sure it is easy for dogs to do.
  16. Yup, even viewing order can matter! Although I'd hope it matters less than those other factors.
  17. Then it can move up to a high lvl13 indignation when the CF cards get unlocked? (fingers crossed!)
  18. You still believe RED has "their own custom firmware" on the SSDs?? Vs just having flipped a few bits here or there to keep out "unauthorized" SSDs.
  19. If the BMPCC had stayed at $500 RRP new (instead of being a very short lived sale) then now by late 2019 I'm sure we'd be able to buy an OG BMPCC for the EOSHD Cheap Camera competition! Sadly it is not to be ?
  20. Not really, even the best case outcome here is still a bad look for RED. And the current new reduser thread about Jinnitech isn't making it any better!
  21. It is crazy, so many takes on set are going to be longer than that! Heck even with 16gig cards I frequently came across the problem with a RED ONE on set of it not being able to handle same of the longer takes. Just a royal royal pain in the backside. On a totally (not) unrelated topic, this thread is worth a read: https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=34017
  22. Josh again (man is he going into the RED bad books permanently forever!): And I agree with Misha: Except I'd describe both "relatively high price" and "creative with the truth" as being very generous to RED! But the main point I want to highlight is: the deafining silence from the mainstream "Cine-Press". Aside from this: https://www.slashcam.com/news/single/A-very-critical-look-at-the-RED-MINI-Mags-15203.html It does indeed make you extra worried that we have no truly independent Cine-Press! :-/ ? (EOSHD isn't covering this in the blog btw, but I'm sure Andrew is keen to? But he mentioned earlier in this thread that he couldn't? Past legal threats from RED???)
  23. I feel like I've seen this "threat" from Jarred, too. Correct me if I'm reading too far into this, but I feel like the implication here is that RED could issue a firmware later that would brick (or otherwise render your camera inoperable) if you used third-party media. Also, in terms of "RED Approved" third-party accessories, I couldn't help but notice that the Tilta expander I own (and was RED approved at the time of purchase) is no longer listed on their approved page. So, is it no longer approved? Did something change? Was it not adequately tested when it received it's stamp of approval? And if so, am I to trust future stamps of approval? Honestly, RED's "approval" of third-party equipment has been flaky at best. Whenever someone has had an issue with an "approved" accessory, I've seen the choir sing "shouldn't have used third-party equipment!!"--doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of RED's stamp of approval? It does indeed feel like a threat from the RED Team to scare people into toeing the line! Josh makes another good comment with:
