Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
You still can't buy a BMPCC OG for $500 new today! Even secondhand they're often selling for that price or more. -
Only one very specific model, and an 8gig card.... is bad enough using 16gig cards with the R1! As my previous post was saying: They're rare. And thus have a high inflated cost. (for something that is so very old!) Life would be easy for any prospective/current owner/user of RED ONEs if RED simply allowed any CF card to be used in their discontinued RED ONE. What cost would there be to RED?? (other than a bit of programming time) NONE! Am sure this would not be stealing away any sales from their current line up of RED cameras. And in return it would bring a lot of good will and renewed faith in the company. Plus bring in more young / new / aspiring / emerging filmmakers to join the RED ecosystem with their "new" RED ONE, who will one day move on up and buy RED's latest cameras. I'm not surprised!! Didn't RED do that to the 8gig Lexar cards as well? Yes, the video was longer than it absolutely needed to be, but I feel the way he did made the video much more entertaining! I think it was great. Wouldn't change it. Heck, he can make it into a twelve episode show that runs for five season if he wishes! I'm sure there is enough drama and intrigue there to fill it up.

Yup, I don't mind quite as much the crazy rip off prices (because well, so is everything else in the filmmaking world at that level....), neither was it a surprise they're using off the shelf parts, but it is RED's aggressively defensive attitude and outright blatant lies that really bugs me. RED has taken a big hit to its reputation in my eyes. I noticed this, and guessed that timing is related to the video release but I'm still somewhat somewhat surprised Jinnitech released this video. As if other people know how easy this is to do themselves, surely that will harm sales of their (also overpriced! But nowhere near as much so as RED's) JINNIMAGs? Reckon someone needs to scan a MiniMag then upload the STL file so everyone can print their own! It sucks big big time for RED ONE users (and anybody who is interested in buying a R1), like myself, that RED didn't open up their RED ONEs to use all other CF cards. (they could have done this for instance after they discontinued it, one last firmware update to unlock all CF cards) As most cheap RED ONEs are using the CF cards rather than the SSD drives, and it is a royal royal pain in the ass to use CF cards!! 8gig cards disappear in a blink of an eye, and even 16gig cards need to be constantly swapped in and out. What other options do you have beyond that? NOTHING! Imagine how much better a RED ONE could be if we could cheaply use a standard 128gig CF card in it.

And that is exactly why you should use the hirose input with a battery, and not the DC barrel input.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

Ha, it definitely would not! Our desires/wants are insatiable, and unlimited! -
Maybe you're going to be the beta tester for their new cinema camera? ?
-
It is much more than that The DC barrel input has a narrow tolerance of voltages Remember, these things work on smoke. If you let the smoke out then it will stop working.
-
But for a random newbie beginner I'd probably recommend they check out MAGIX Vegas Pro or HitFilm Pro

Is this a spam post to give links to Filmora / biztechreviews?

Still would rather leap for a Panasonic EVA1 for cheaper, or a Panasonic Varicam LT for a bit more.
-
I agree, but there are still many many many many MANY more wedding cakes sold than film cakes cameras.
-
It is a much better idea to use the hirose connector, especially when hooking up some dodgy DIY/aliexpress contraption.

If it is ten minutes long then you'll get two adverts in it, which is why so so many videos uploaded are bang on ten minutes or just over it. So? If you only have a viral video or two then we're still only talking about pennies. Anybody who takes it seriously (with the aim to make it a career of sorts) will get 1K Subs easily (heck I'm almost there ish and I take my channel very very casually with low production values indeed).

The Brothers Grimsby just showed up now on Netflix NZ, so I’m watching it right now.
-
At least there are more logical reasons as to why the niche market of cinema gear is sky high expensive, vs the emotional driven reasons behind wedding charges.

The Fuji MK E Mount lenses though are Super 35mm Need to wait for that Nikon Z DX camera! ?

A focus puller does much more than just tapping on a screen I agree, and also the job of Focus Pulling is so so much more than just pulling the focus! Thus even if there is no actual pulling of focus on a shoot you could still need a "Focus Puller". As they're basically #1 in change of running the camera department . (the DoP shouldn't be getting bogged down in the details of micro managing the camera department during the shoot itself) Absolutely, I've seen similar over the past year on the shoots I'm working on, as Tilta seems to be owning the low budget market when it comes to focus pulling. Everything in the cinema market is insanely priced! But hey, if you're getting hundreds of dollars per day rental for your ARRI WCU-4 then it makes perfect financial sense to buy one if you're getting enough regular work as a 1st AC (as one of my 1st AC mates did recently, he purchased an ARRI WCU-4 a few months ago).

Find the best video quality for under $200 - fun challenge
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
If someone wants to try a really different tack to this challenge then video footage from a CCD sensor might be interesting? (as usually waaaay outside the budget if you're getting an ILC, needing to buy the likes of say a Sony F35) As there are dirt dirt cheap P&S CCD from a long forgotten era to be snapped up for pennies with patience, such as the Panasonic LX3 which shoots HD video from its small CCD sensor. (not FHD though) -
Good luck carrying an EOS M in your pocket, not even with a pocket pancake prime! (let alone a zoom, ha) Not happening at all, unless you have BIG POCKETS Basically no APS-C sized sensor cameras can be carried around with a zoom, but maaaaybe with a pancake lens if you've got a BIG pocket Really the Sony RX100 series is what makes the most sense for pockets (or similar like a Panasonic LX10/LX15/LX100/TZ100/etc)

May I ask what went wrong, was her channel successful though?
-
Yes, in most cases you should upload weekly or even more often. But there are lots of popular channels which upload less often. For instance one of my favourite channels is "Strange Parts" and they often go a few weeks without an upload. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO8DQrSp5yEP937qNqTooOw/videos But when you think about the work which goes into their videos, it is a mad amount, heaps of effort and time goes into it! For my own channel, I try to aim for weekly ish, but reality/work/life often interferes and weeks might go by without an upload. (but also, sometimes I might do multiple uploads in one week. Or even in one day, my max was 3 uploads in one day) Anyway, you can completely ignore what I do/don't do, as I don't make a dime at all from YouTube (that isn't the reason why I do it anyway). This. THIS. Is a big reason why I'd recommend never putting all your eggs into the one basket which is YouTube, you never know if one morning and you'll wake up to find out Google has completely fvcked your channel! (could be a nuclear case where your channel is deleted, or just simply a lot of your videos have been delisted, or maybe your rankings have dropped massively to the point you might as well not exist, or any of a million other ways they might screw you over)

Have you used any other ambisonic mics before that you can compare it against?
