I liked M Cam's skin tones the most.

Oh darn, I didn't know you needed to buy an extra accessory to use bluetooth with it

Thought others here might find this interesting, although it was shot in NZ.... it was actually done a long way away from myself! Down in NZ's South Island.

What you want done is called "conforming". Tonnes of info out there about that. (hopefully they're using TC during production? And request an AAF/OMF from the editor) https://blog.frame.io/2017/04/10/how-to-keep-your-sound-editor-happy/ https://www.mattlyon.info/articles/premiere-aaf http://www.thecargocult.nz/manuals/conformalizer4/cleanup.html https://ambient.de/tutorial/auto-conform-clips-in-adobe-premiere-pro/ https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2016/7/1/pro-tools-conforming-and-re-conforming-in-audio-post-production-part-3 etc etc etc

Yes, I gave Mattias specifically as an example of someone who is living with local sources of very cheap secondhand gear! A golden paradise indeed. -

You're still much more likely to snag a bargain in Australian than New Zealand! I remember one time I almost almost purchased the Sony a7Smk1 because it was so cheap in Australia compared to locally in NZ, but I just couldn't figure out the logistics of getting my cousin in Sydney to buy it and the a7S to be paid for before the sale ended ? :-/ A missed opportunity for me. Ditto audio, I'm far far far more likely to find a bargain in Australia than NZ! (is where for instance I purchased my Cedar DNS-2 from, a guy in Melbourne) But yes, I do very much agree that in general Australian prices are far worse than many other parts of the world (such as the UK / USA / Asia), could be worse though... you could be living in NZ. -

MONTHS??? Oh if only I was so lucky! There was one time when I order a stone tablet that took so many thousands of years to get to here that the frozen ice pathway connecting the continents had melted away. Thus it is trapped there for now on the wrong side of the oceans, I'm waiting for the next ice age and continental plate shift to happen so that the pathway here reemerges. -

Find the best video quality for under $200 - fun challenge

I reckon the amount should be expressed just in one currency, and we can convert it ourselves into whatever our local Pesos currency is. And to exclude shipping costs as well, which helps level the playing field a teeny tiny bit between those who live at the ends of the earth like myself and @Mattias Burling living in the golden paradise of Sweden. Some people might spend a lot of time just researching and hunting for the right perfect bargain to buy! (not even counting the days/weeks it might then take to get the item shipped to you, if you live far far away like myself. My Zaxcom Maxx recorder for instance still hasn't arrived) -

Maybe not because they're not cheap enough yet? But it would be nice if I was still allowed to use say one of my GH1 bodies (one of which I purchased years and years ago as a film student at what was the crazy low price of I think US$250?? Which is overpriced now! But back then it was dirt cheap! Partially because the dial was a little stuck, no big problem, just had to force it a little. And maybe also partially because the seller took pity on a poor broke film student and wanted to see the camera put to good use? My second GH1 I purchased dirt dirt cheap as well, but that was a couple of years later once the prices had started to properly trend down, and was purchased from a friend) I reckon if it is an expensive Metabones adapter then no, they're more expensive than the camera! But the cheap chinese knock offs are so cheap that even once paired with the lens, that the total cost is still lower than many "affordable lenses". Oh darn, we're not including mics into the total budget are we.... then my budget will truly be blown! Having owned both the GH1 and GX1, I'd definitely take the GX1 if we're only talking about image quality. (although the grip / flip out screen / EVF / etc might make someone nudge toward the GH1 maybe, but those don't matter for this competition) I own a GF3 as well! Truly below average video quality. But for poor videographer who wanted a "D Cam" for his weddings, then a $50 GF3 back in mid 2010, it was a screaming bargain!! No regrets. Was dirt dirt cheap for its time, nothing else could even touch its bang for buck. And its MFT mount made it compatible with all my other video cameras. There are a few hidden gems among the forgotten P&S options which have been lost to the mists of time. Worth considering if a person doesn't mind giving up the benefits of ILC But I reckon if a person goes with buying a P&S instead they should be allowed to boost their budget by another $100, because they're not going to buying a lens for their camera as it already comes with one. -

So non-fancy lights/actors are ok! But my first generation crappy Chinese focal reducer is ok? Just expensive ones like Metabones is out? Could be a lot of fun if the camera isn't initially revealed! Maybe if it is posted a fortnight later? /picks up the phone to ring Industrial Light & Magic -

I'm almost certain I've impacted the price of UWP wireless :-/ Used to buy them for much cheaper than I can see them going for on eBay now! I reckon it is because I constantly am raving about them (from one corner of the internet to the next) over the more popular G3 wireless. Definitely EOSHD (and @Mattias Burling for sure!) have had similar impacts (no, not similar, much bigger impacts!) on eBay pricings as well. Darn it, that excludes my thirty buck Canon 50D! What about two lenses which are dirt dirt cheap? Like twenty bucks each or less? Going to assume monopods are ok. What about shoulder rigs? -

If only the GX800 had a mic input then I'd be all over it! Instead going to keep on waiting for an ultra cheap G85 to upgrade to that instead Please post the camera to my address in Cairo Egypt when it is mine turn! Thanks. If we don't exclude in the rules the costs of shooting on film then he might! I got an X-A3 for US$115 An inferior body than the X-T1 in the eyes of most people, but the X-A3 does have a more modern sensor in it, and was even cheaper to buy than the X-T1! The GH2 is a *VERY* famous mirrorless model, this is in a way true for all the GH series. The G series underneath the GH series has always offered the buyer a bigger bang for their buck, but this is doubly true when considering secondhand purchases because they're underappreciated and not as desirable. Thus I'd recommend a G6 (still is my current vlogging weapon of choice!) over a GH2 or even a GH3. -

My gut feeling is that Avid is dominant at the high end for now, but in the long run (or even merely the short/medium run) is on its way out.
-
Well, we used to have John Brawley here...
-
Absolutely! Social media (for both collaboration & distribution) and online streaming services has made life much better for indie filmmakers. I have a few times worked on C300mk2 shoots, but I work with a FS7 a dozen times for every once with a C300mk2! Used to sometimes work with a C100 camera of some flavor, but I haven't even once in a couple of years. And have worked a couple of times each worked on a shoot with a C500/C200 C700? Never.
-
Every man and his dog seems to have a FS7 in most parts of the developed world. Definitely by far the most popular low/mid budget camera here in NZ as well. With Arri Mini being the normal standard for any project with more of a budget. We're only in the very early days of the LED lighting revolution. Which will in a long run be a massive came changer for low budget cinematography.

My last video I recorded during 48HOURS: Indeed, other than during its release, I think my video might be the only one on YT showing it doing TC? Yes, over SDI. Correct. I worked on a short film a couple of years ago which shot ProRes internally with the FS7 And yes, can't do 4K! Just 1080

Nope, a small minority are. Even VENICE can still be shot in S35 mode, and often is. The vast vast majority of blockbusters / commercials / higher budget docos / etc are still shot with S35
-
Not quite! (give it a few more years) But a GH1 or better is very doable.
-
"Decent" is a big weasel word there.... Often to ensure audio is "decent" then a very high priority has to be placed on it.

No budget for a few DR10L bodypacks?? Yet what is in the rest of your kit? I fear that once again it was just simply a matter of priorities, and people placed audio at the bottom of that list. As for how to mount it, same as with any other bodypack!
