  1. yeah the X-H1 suffered due to: 1) being Fuji's 1st good video camera (it takes a lot for people to switch systems, and it helps to see a track record) 2) a very competitive market place (we're spoiled for great options in 2018/2019!) 3) the even "better" X-T3 coming out shortly after
  2. Really??? I thought the gist of the feeling was it was a good performer? Or do you mean that it didn't sell well? At least not to the filmmaking community, not surprising when it was Fuji's first really good attempt at it.
  3. Yup, and in the grand scheme of things then 16 months is not that long at all. And if Fuji was waiting to first get a great reception from a mirrorless camera before beginning development on a cinema camera, then they might have only barely started. UMP is only a grand more than that. And the Panasonic EVA1 is "only" a grand and a half more. (there is currently a secondhand EVA1 in my city up for sale for less than US$4K!!) That is what I would hope they target as well. Basically a C100 for 2019! (but with SDI and TC please!)
  4. I imagine that is quite rare the price happens to be that low. And it can't be that many months away until a Fujifilm X-T30 or a Sony a6400 sells for near to that price. Will happen before Xmas for sure.
  5. That is a pity. But the question is also, does XQD in SxS cards work different? That hasn't been tested? But it seems like the odds are slim :-/
  6. Rode NT-SF1 https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/rode-nt-sf1
  7. Not that I know of. Haven't seen anybody mention anything more on this point.
  8. My guess as to the "reason why" is Fujifilm is still trying to "get it right" with their mirrorless cameras' video performance (which they're now achieving) before launching into the cinema camera game? To make sure their first release is not a flop, but a success. Or at least that is my hope / theory.
  9. For sure, for someone who already owns a NX1 then they should just keep on using it. But would many people think it is a sane idea to recommend buying a new NX1 for someone starting out?? It is indeed likely many will have it as their "last" camera, and will never buy another lens. But for some people, especially people who come to specialist forums like this, that they will go further and deeper down this path. Then EOS M mount (or NX mount) is totally the wrong path to set them down.
  10. Why are you getting rid of the BMPCC4K?
  11. Ebrahim Saadawi, the gift which keeps on giving! I dunno. While it was a common belief that Australia didn't exist, most people do now believe in its existence. But there are still a few who believe it doesn't exist: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/shortcuts/2018/apr/15/australia-doesnt-exist-and-other-bizarre-geographic-conspiracies-that-wont-go-away Honestly I'm more worried about how New Zealand seems to be getting wiped out: https://www.reddit.com/r/MapsWithoutNZ/
  12. How is the dynamic range of the E2C? As that is one area on the spec sheet that the E2C performs below the E2
  13. Yup, who here wouldn't rather shoot with an Arri Alexa in 1080 than a RED ONE at 4K?
  14. When I started out I got this Yunteng as my first "video" monopod: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Yunteng-288-Camera-Monopod-Fluid-Pan-Head-Unipod-Holder-For-Canon-Nikon-Camera/32502452781.html It is ok, certainly I feel the best you can get for its price! Remember at 1080 you're only resolving 2 megapixels, even at 4K you don't exactly need the sharpest of sharp lenses. And Canikon/Pentax/Minolta constant F stop zoom lens from 1990's onward I'd say is on average a good quality lens. And even equivalent third party lenses from 2000's onward are often as well.
  15. Yup, you can trust nothing from a person who makes major clangers of mistakes like that!
  16. Why not a Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-AF-80-200-2-8-ED-Camera-Lens-Excellent-From-Japan/254219916491 With a little hunting I'm sure you can find even cheaper prices. (waaay cheaper if you go third party like Tokina/Tamron/Sigma, or even just go for a camera manufacturer which isn't Canikon. Such as the dirt cheap Pentax 85-210mm f4.5, or the Pentax 70-200 f4, or Olympus 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5, or Minolta 75-200 f4 etc)
  17. But for how long? Adobe has shifted to the subscription model, and is hiking prices. DaVinci Resolve is on the rise, and could well be the one of the future. Perhaps. BMD is a software *AND* hardware company. Just like how Apple is a software AND hardware company.
  18. Get yourself a proper Video monopod: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/SIRUI-EP-204S-Aluminum-Portable-Tripod-Monopod-Multi-function-Stable-Travel-Tripod-Professional-Photography-Set-For/32901870376.html & fluid head: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/miliboo-MYT801-65-mm-Bowl-Size-Base-Flat-Fluid-Head-Ball-for-Camera-Tripod-Monopod-Stand/32833684731.html
  19. So we're making an argument for 720 now?
  20. It is unfortunate then for those buyers that EOS-M is an almost dead mount which one day Canon will kill off completely.
  21. Am maxed out at 1080 60fps It is the X-A5 which has "4K" Exactly, it is a screaming good deal! If I get drunk and lose it one weekend night then I won't shed too many tears over it.
  22. The pilot btw was shot on a "full frame" DSLR :-P Then season one on the Sony F3, then the rest with the ALEXA Yup! He shares a lot. Just like a few others who generously do, such as David Mullen / John Brawley / Roger Deakins / etc I learn so much from reading all their posts on forums.
  23. To call the GH5 unusable at 400 ISO is just ultimately silliness! Even the old GH3 (or GH2! Or GH1!) is just fine at ISO 400.
  24. Kinda defeats the purpose of a 4K camera if you're buying it to shoot in 1080 all the time?
