  1. Get the new Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm f/1.7 ? Covers the range you need!
  2. If you're happy buying secondhand a Sony PMW-F5 sells for similar price to a new EVA1 But yeah if buying new, then an EVA1 is my pick at that price point. With that or take a punt on an UMP G2 (if you can live with the lower low light performance of the UMP)
  3. Now only US$36K!! Bargain! Except you could buy a Panasonic Varicam LT for under US$15K instead https://www.abelcine.com/buy/cameras-accessories/digital-cinema-cameras/panasonic-varicam-lt-4k-super-35mm-cinema-camera-ef-mount
  4. Keep an eye on your local listings! As a lot of people are getting rid of their old tungstens as they move over to LEDs. And they're too bulky/heavy to easily/effectively sell overseas so it is just going to get sold to locals who can pick it up
  5. Arri Mini LF, Alexa LF, AMIRA, Sony PMW-F3/F5/F55, VENICE, Panasonic Varicam S35 / LT , etc etc etc would all like to disagree with you!
  6. Putting an EVA1/FS5/C100 (which are all small cinema cameras) on a gimbal for a long day is not fun at all!
  7. Yeah we had the AF100 which was good for its time, then Panasonic in their infinite wisdom decided to make the Panasonic EVA1 only be EF mount. (plus like you said there is also the LS300, which to come from JVC of all people was a bit of a surprise)
  8. True, although the big big difference between the Deity Connect Wireless and past products from Deity/Aputure, is that they can release firmware updates which you can easily update yourself to get an improved product immediately. Perhaps you won't need to wait until 2020? Firmware V1.1 has already been released and it fixes a few issues and expands a few other features. https://www.deitymic.com/firmware/
  9. The Sony FS700 is becoming dirt cheap, very tempting, it is the biggest factor stopping me buying another Sony PMW-F3! Because a FS700 is only a little more. But the biggest factor stopping me buying a FS700? (aside from my realization that I don't *need* one, I just "want" it) That the FS5 has been becoming so cheap lately! If it just drops a little bit lower.... As ergonomically the FS5 is a big big leap forward over the FS700, and its internal codec is much better as well.
  10. Huh? What "panning stutter"? Probably operator error. And what is with everyone's need to shoot at a billion ISO? Try shooting with a RED or ARRI.... then you'll realize MFT can perform just fine in lowlight relatively speaking!
  11. If a production only needs 1080 (and the camera isn't damaged) then a C300mk1 could be a perfectly reasonable and smart choice for the shoot.
  12. For reference, here are a few figures: I think the GH5 performs just fine in context!
  13. This here is even more impressive technology to deal with limiting than Zoom's F6 32bit files or the F8n's "look ahead limiters": http://jayrose.com/funny/PAPManual_April2014.pdf ?
  14. Ah I see what you mean, well they no more impacted the rentals of a FS7 / C200 than the GH5 / a7Smk2 / etc did beforehand.
  15. I bet the average rental house has not even heard of the brand Z Cam, they're not worried! Ditto P4K, they're not stealing too many C200/FS7 rentals.
  16. True, I'm unlikely to own specifically a Nikon Z6 in the near future. Especially as I see it as tough for the Panasonic G85 to be knocked off its top spot as my preferred camera to upgrade to next. Everything else sub $1K just seems to fall short of the G85 in one way or another. (the Fujifilm X-T30 for instance has the short 4K recording limit and no IBIS) However it doesn't seem to unlikely that I might pick one up in two or three years when prices fall, or a "Nikon Z50" (a mirrorless DX camera) if one gets launched (which it surely will one day). As I do have a soft spot for Nikon! (my first ever DSLR: Nikon D50! First ever camera filmed on: Nikon D90!) It is kinda strange they haven't brought out a cinema grade camera. Just simply sticking the Z6 into a bigger body with SDI/TC/NDs and internal raw would be very popular. Very very unlikely. Not going to happen in the next couple of years, or even double that time span.
  17. Going to make a wild guess today for when the "Scorpio Micro" will happen, am thinking: late 2020 or earlier it will ship! (fingers crossed) Sound Devices was impressive in pushing out heaps of MixPre recorders quickly. But if we ignore the M variants, as they're just "small" differences, then they had three: 3 / 6 / 10T. The last of them was the MixPre10T, which has a roughly year and half gap between the 10T shipping and when Scorpio will ship. Thus if we figure out a similar product development cycle for the next big release then this will come in late 2020, which is roughly a year and half from now. However hopefully the product development for a "Scorpio Micro" will be faster than making the Scorpio from scratch (which is totally different to the MixPre10T which came just before it!), so maaaaaybe we can see a Scorpio Micro at NAB 2020? ?
  18. He can't use the flat profile (or EOSHD's Z-log), because he doesn't have a Z6
  19. Yes, seems like this once again falls into the category of "best in class for the price" if you're buying new. However if you're willing to spend significantly more or spend a lot of time hunting for secondhand deals (just purchased another Lectrosonics LMa today!) then you've got lots of better options.
  20. Still is absolutely MASSIVE compared to the number of DB16 owners!
  21. I purchased an iPad Mini and an iPod Touch (cheap as chips!) because my Zoom F8n's app is *ONLY* for iOS Also use it for a bit of light browsing / youtube, that is all.
  22. Because the entire Digital Bolex market is a drop in the ocean to the Canon behemoth
