"To start from"?? They're better off chucking out everything they've got into the fire and burning it to hell! Then starting again completely from scratch. (or even better.... not starting it up again)

I'll flick you now the Paypal link to pre order to order it ?

There certainly is some content which ends up on YouTube, I'd have worked on a few like that. But yeah, most would be going to TV/paid streaming/TVC/theaters/etc

LOL! And that is just on the "big boy" Alexa, it has only got worse since then for audio! (exception: AMIRA)

Give you a shallow base mount to adapt anything you like, unlike EF mount.

S35 is here for the long haul, I expect it will be a long long time until we see high end S35 cinema lenses selling for "cheap" I've worked on very small Alexa Mini shoots when it has just been the director, DoP, 1st AC, gaffer, and myself (sound). Or when you want the lowlight of the Varicam

Given up hope for an EVA1 MFT, my next best hope is for a EVA2 with L Mount. But I reckon EVA1 is still a little too new to see an EVA2 this year. My prediction: Sound Devices - will announce an "8xx" series recorder (likely to compete against the attacks coming from the new Deva 24 and Cantar X3).

With the announcement of bankruptcy we thought this was all over? But no! Fran is the camera which keeps on giving!

Budget Video Camera for 13-year-old son (and wife's vacation)?
IronFilm replied to Mark Romero 2's topic in Cameras
You might get lucky finding an Olympus E-M10 III or Panasonic G85 secondhand for near ish to your budget? Otherwise go for the older Olympus E-M10 II which can be found even cheaper. I remember filming with my a5100 years ago and it would overheat after every take! So very frustrating -
Isn't an Arri patent holding people back from doing that?
-
The ORIGINAL Shogun? Yikes, that was a long time ago! When does the patent expire? What did the tweet say?

From my perspective it has got a slightly somewhat smarter body design for audio, at least compared to the original Alexa Mini which was pretty awful. The timecode connector is in a more sensible location, and it has gained an internal scratch mic (wish it had four track recording, like say the FS7 has, then you could have both internal scratch mics plus an external audio source being recorded all at once). Plus the audio input is no longer in the awkward spot at the front, but why oh why did they have to change the Lemo connector to a completely different type??? (previous it was 5 pin Lemo line level only, now it is a 6 pin Lemo connector for audio. Oh well, I guess that is yet more audio cables I must buy) No. https://www.facebook.com/DavidCMPeterson/photos/a.277946442237979/2435658336466768/

Eric Chen on Facebook from Z Cam confirmed my guesses as correct.
-
Ouch! Double the Z Cam E2 price At this price point I'd probably instead just wait to get lucky with a secondhand Panasonic EVA1 or Sony FS7 My guess is the audio cable needed will be the same as for the Arri Alexa Mini And probably what is needed for TC is the same as just got announced for TC with the Z Cam E2

They're not going to release a G85 mk2 and a GH6 on the same day. I was going to suggest that maybe they'll release the GH6 at Photokina..... but that got cancelled for 2019, and won't be next until 2020!

Yes, economies of scale is a big factor. Many less units sold to recover the R&D from But also a cinema lens design needs to consider so much more than what a still lens does. For instance a photographer doesn't normally care about focus breathing, but this can be very important to a cinematographer.

Same, fingers crossed for another S35 MFT camera! Exactly, you could use 4K with *ALL* MFT lenses, and you could use 6K with "many" MFT lenses and nearly *all* adapted lenses on the MFT mount.
-
Yup, their prices are still too inflated for me to bother with vs a more modern and massively cheaper smartphone. Am considering buying very soon a secondhand LG V20 or a Moto G5 (not the Plus version, lacks a replaceable battery) or a LG G5
-
Wake me up when they put a 1" sensor in a cellphone again. Sadly the Panasonic CM1 is still the only smartphone to do this. You should start up an "AudioHD" (Audio4K? Audio16K??) forum as well!

Either of these cameras will be a massive massive massive MASSIVE leap forward in stills capabilities over your D80! And of course even an old iPhone will be an improvement in video quality over your D80..... I think when making such a massive leap forward you should consider which is greater value for your money, which the X-T3 would be. And is a light year leap ahead of the Nikon D80 10 megapixel CCD sensor from 2006!

How extensive is your lens collection? If you've got lots (especially if they're all DX lenses) then I'd say pick up a Nikon D7500 on the cheap. If there are plenty of FX lenses there too, then a Nikon Z6 would be smart (or even a D750? They're going dirt cheap! And if it is your first time filming then 1080 is still plenty!!)

Nearly as bad as the FS5 mk2 ?

Did anybody here ever buy more than one Pen1..... ?
