I hope you get a loaner! As you always do such great reviews. Well d'oh! Because that is the company insta account

A million dollars doesn't take you quite as far as you might think. Not over your entire lifetime. Plus having no internet and no smartphone is a bigger downside than you think. (as like you said.... you wouldn't want to give up google!) Just hiring someone to do that one task would quickly eat into a lot of that million dollars over your lifetime.

Don't forget about the D810....

The Nikon Z6 is already ahead of the Sony a7 mk3 And yeah, people don't give Nikon enough credit for what they've done! (both now and in the past. Remember, Nikon started off this entire HDSLR craze!) Overheating....
-
You're forgetting the ARRI ALEXA LF Which also costs waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more!
-
I'd be leaning towards the XT3, until you said this.... Go for the Z6! It makes the Z6 pull out ahead of the XT3. But most people might not want to use the Ninja V with their camera, but in your case you're going to do it anyway, which makes the decision easier.

You could give me a million dollars and I still wouldn't want to give up my smartphone and internet!

Atomos Shinobi (monitor only version of the Ninja V)

It also allows remote of the Z Cam E2 apparently -
The D5200 sensor (also the same on in the D7100/D7200, and the recent D3x00 cameras) is still quite a nice sensor that is still relevant in 2019 in a low low priced camera. But maybe they'd use the D500 sensor if the D5200 sensor isn't capable of 4K in any form? A D5700 like body with a Z Mount and a D500 sensor all for the low price of $500 is a camera I'd be keen to see announced. Eventually DSLRs will disappear. APS-C cameras are the biggest selling segment in the camera market. Would be supremely foolish to give that up just because they're moving to mirrorless! Thus logic dictates that Nikon will be certain to introduce a DX Z mount camera. Unless you think they'll be making sub $500 FX cameras in the near ish future?? I highly doubt it! DX cameras are needed for the mass market, and to help bring in new blood into the Nikon ecosystem to support Nikon into the future. No way on earth is Nikon giving that. It is not a matter of "if" Nikon makes a mirrorless DX camera, but "when"

It was America's "Got Talent": Although he has performed in Britain as well: He is a kiwi btw! His real name is not TapeFace but "Sam Willis"

If you're living somewhere that is big enough to have a college, then I'm sure there is a local film scene. Perhaps not a busy professional film scene, but at least a local indie/hobbyist film scene you could hook up with. What about the art department at your college, any film students there? Volunteer to help with them.

Wait for a Nikon Z DX camera before leaping in, that would be even more affordable than a Z5

It is the same problem that video game creators have! Thus they learn to guide/nudge the player (or viewer, in the case of VR) in the direction they want

Noisy. But each person's critical standards of what they'll put up with will vary. Uh oh! Even worse news for your sound department :-P I'm not a fan of generators. But unfortunately they seem to be a necessary evil.

On the vast majority of stills cameras you're capped at 8bit output over HDMI, so there is almost barely any point dealing with the cost/hassle Thus even if he meant something else than what he actually said, that still is terrible advice to give. lol

Ugh. Did a whole feature film with two of those....

Always handy to have spare cables at hand during a shoot, they're dodgy things.

There isn't much difference between 85mm and 87mm, but 16mm vs 18mm is very noticeable! Each mm at the wide end has a bigger impact If going to shoot usually with the Ninja then you could next time around save $$ and get a X-T30 with it instead of a X-T3!

To expect even 10bit HD from a C100 mk3 is I feel too overly optimistic about Canon Translation:

What/when do you reckon the Samsung NX1 lost its crown to? The Fujifilm X-T3? What a dream! Imagine simply if the D500 had the NX1 video horsepower.

The Marantz one seems to be a copy of the version one of the old Rode Blimp, and it costs less than a hundred fifty bucks! There is no good reason to not get one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1302687-REG/marantz_professional_zp_1_blimp_style_microphone_windscreen.html (exception... unless you already own something better! I'll accept that excuse. Is kinda my reason why I didn't buy a Marantz Blimp. As I already own a Rode and Rycote one, and my next one will probably be something like a Cinela or Cyclone instead than a Marantz!)

If you're using adapted lenses, then AF doesn't matter. If you have support tools (easyrig/tripod/dolly/etc) then IBIS doesn't matter either (plus the extra hefty of the camera helps with stability) I've just finished up several days of doing the sound for a film, and the DoP was shooting on an Arri Mini he owned. Am sure he wasn't worried about the lack of IBIS or AF when he purchased it a year and a half ago, or even today! (interestingly enough, his previous camera was a FS700! And before that a 5Dmk2) For this DoP, he got a lot of work back in the day due to owning a FS700 that could do 240fps You can use end or mid trigger so that you still are capturing the perfect slices of moments in time :-)

Dedos are one of the industry standards. But Aputure and CAME-TV make cheaper alternatives as well if you're looking to save a buck

False. So very very very false. On multiple levels. Just flat out false.

Mostly I'm using a zeppelin (and no, the foam is not kept on the mic itself once inside the zeppelin). But sometimes I'll use something like a Rode WS6 if there is almost no wind outdoors.
