EOSHD Opinion - The Sony A6400 is an absolute turkey
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
NZ is bloody hot at the moment! And Sony has such a bad rep with overheating, I remember my Sony a5100 overheating after each gimbal take even during winter time at night! -
EOSHD Opinion - The Sony A6400 is an absolute turkey

I feel (I say "feel" because I never owned a NX1) that the rolling shutter wasn't the deal breaker that most people made it out to be. As rolling shutter is only truly terrible in a scene for some kinds of certain shots, so you'd shoot 4K most of the time then switch over to 1080 (for which the NX1 has some of the best rolling shutter performance on the planet!) for those specific shots which need it (perhaps a fight scene which is going to have heaps of crazy whip pans). -
That is what I was saying too. Yeah the Aputure/Deity wireless will be substantially more expensive, but you're getting two channels of wireless. So on a "per channel" basis, then it won't be costing that much more.
-
OUCH!! That would be a major deal breaker for many of us. Also bad news. $350 is too expensive??? What the hell. I've got wireless which is TEN TIMES that

I expect fewer sales for their GS camera than they're expecting. Because there are not "many" people who want a Global Shutter camera above all else as their holy grail, there are only very few, but these few are very vocal online and fool people into thinking it is more important than it really is. Well you'd still be needing plenty of lights if a person got the Digital Bolex instead.

Not such a great idea when you consider the total cost of a GH4 + Ninja V
-
Interesting speculation if it is the GH4 sensor, got any reasoning behind that?? They have after all already used the GH4 sensor in their Z Cam E1 cameras. And I guess if they put in a beefier processor into the camera that would enable it to handle 10bit 4K internal l The smaller one is the E2C, the bigger one is the E2 The E2 is still Z Cam's "top camera".

It is EXTREMELY RARE to even have a global sensor cinema 4K camera, in fact what notable ones exist.... only the Sony F55 (VERY expensive!) and the flawed BMPC4K So if someone brings out a low low priced Global Shutter 4K cinema camera then I'm perfectly ok if it is a compromise or there, such as a S16 sensor (merely the same as my BMPCC has). Although honestly I wish the rabid global shutter internet deskjockey fanboys had never managed to convince Z Cam in the first instance that a global shutter camera is a worthwhile project, as I'd have rather Z Cam had directed their limited R&D elsewhere. Arguably you can use the Z Cam straight out of the box (not counting media or lens, which most cameras don't come with), assuming you have a smartphone (as nearly everyone does).

I'm the furthest thing from a SJW And in that post he was saying in the hypothetical example that you gave, then that would be ''criminal'' to do. Maybe because you actively try to not learn anything more about them? Other than coming into this thread to post negative things about them. "Most would agree...." that BMD is more likely to go bust than replace ARRI as the next cinema standard. As you said, "that's just the nature of the business". ARRI is a bloody tough bastard to knock off the top (but it will I presume happen one day")

Nikon Z9 and Z5 plus affordable 4K shooting D5700 in the works?
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Plenty of buyers like myself of the D5x00 who have extensive experience with DSLRs but just want a budget priced body -
Yes I'd imagine many people who buy a Kinefinity from outside China research the hell out of it, so stay fairly committed to the camera for a while before selling it. Plus the general thinness of the market, means there is less chances for super crazy low priced deals.

No. The GH3 is better. Basically the GH series got better with every generation, as you'd expect. Eh? The Zoom F4 goes on sale for US$350 And the Tascam DR60D can be found for $150ish Pop an external battery on top (I use a BP-U30) and shoot in ProRes and the BMPCC is a joy to easily shoot with. The FS5 is really tiny for a S35 camcorder, you might find it no more awkward than using the likes of a 5D / 1D C type camera for filming with. EOSHD did a blog post which showed GH4 vs G7 in lowlight and the G7 was better.
-
Define "a very good deal"? As I'd probably lean slightly towards a G6 over a GH3, and I'd very strongly prefer a G7 over a GH3. Thus any "deal" on a GH3 would have to be cheaper than either of those, and substantially so.

You can pick up a RED SCARLET MX for a song these days. A brain is like what four or three thousand bucks?? However I reckon that the likes of say a Panasonic GH5S / BMPCC4K would be a more capable camera That is why on the grey market , "refurbished" cameras , and on sale the GH5 has dropped to US$1.5K ish (and the GH5S has seen a similar relative price drop as well ) I suspect another factor is how badly set up modern TVs are by default. Every time I go over to one of the chick's I'm seeing to watch Netflix with her, I'm struck by just how awful her brand new TV looks! And I feel compelled to tweak with her settings... which she kinda hates and often turns it back to the defaults after I leave ?? Is one of the reasons why from the start most of my lens investments has been in Nikon F mount
-
It is a common misconception that the C100 outputs 10bit, it doesn't. (and the guy has errors in his article) The F3 has for years now been extremely affordable! :-)
-
Interesting ,wasn't aware the GH5 (but not GH5S? ha! Seeing as it has no IBIS) did that. I also assume one of the many mics built into the BMPCC4K is there for a similar noise reduction purpose.

I own cameras of various ages from almost all the brands! Nikon , Canon, Panasonic, Sony, BMD, Fujifilm, Pentax, Minolta, Yi, GoPro, Samsung, Kodak, etc

EOSHD Opinion - The Sony A6400 is an absolute turkey
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Don't forget how Canon mistreats EF-S Vs EF, unlike Nikon who lets you happily swap between DX and FX lenses to the max extent. -
With one of those guns that everyone should own.
-
The C100 does not output 10bit Get a Sony PMW-F3 for that ? You mean the Sony PMW-F3 was....
-
Or alternatively I hope Nikon finally finally makes a cinema class camera! With a Z mount of course. Imagine a Z6 with SDI outputs, TC I/O, XLR, and ND filters.

EOSHD Opinion - The Sony A6400 is an absolute turkey
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Exactly! Did it? I don't remember , although I recall the a5100 being better than the a6000 which is why I got it. Huh?? Nikon is arguably leading the pack right now, it is everyone else who needs to catch up!! Or are you meaning that Nikon needs to "catch up" by offering an affordable DX mirrorless? Well, I could not agree more!
