It could be you ?

Don't list UMP either. Don't have AMIRA. Lots of things they don't list. Varicam LT of course hasn't been selling like say a FS7 or Alexa Mini, but they've still found their niche! And I'm sure Panasonic has no regrets about it. I've got a friend who owns one. And NZ's biggest / longest running TV show is being shot with 3x Varicam S35, and lots of other shoots. C300mk1 historically has been a more popular rental option than FS5, so no wonder producers/DP/directors would often feel more comfortable just renting C300 yet again than experimenting with a FS5

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

Do you mean they developed other FF mirrorless but didn't release it or even announce it? No and no -
Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???

Darn it, I miss out on all the good juicy gossip while I'm away working! -
Nikon Z7 is at EOSHD HQ - better video than Sony?
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Of course, because Sony is a FF sensor squeezed into an APS-C mount -
I'm happy to wait for the G85 successor, hopefully will happen in the next 6 months No. The FS5 is similar to the EVA1 in size. But the EVA1 waaaay outdoes the FS5 in quality/specs in most areas.

What lenses do they have? If just a kit lens, then I feel there is no reason to stick with Canon. Get them a Panasonic G85 instead

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???

Hahaha! Very very true. Maybe they're busy playing YouTube 3D Chess while poor little me is still playing 2D Checkers. -

Yes. -
That is a drastically wide range of cameras you've listed there. Almost like they're just randomly thrown together. FS5 vs F5, totally different categories! C100 vs C300, totally different categories! Ditto the Kinefinity MAVO LF being in a totally different category to most of those. Not just AJA CION vs BMPC4K, but also later on BMD reused the sensor inside the original URSA and later the URSA Mini 4K. And we can see how BMD has taken that same sensor they first used in the BMPC4K and pushed it even further the capabilities in the URSA Mini 4K (still wouldn't ever take it though over a UM 4.6K!)

I'm disappointed that the very vocal global shutter religious fanatics online have mislead Z Cam to waste their R&D resources on such a poor return for them. No Yes No. You could even ask the question: Is a global shutter camera really even necessary for 99% of professional filmmaking/videography? Answer: No.

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
IronFilm replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
Exactly. How useful is it? And if MFT gives the performance we need, then do we need to go extreme with FF sensors? Look at the stills world, APS-C sensors already give all the photographic performance that 99% of us need (More people realizing that is what Fujifilm is betting on. With MF for the 1%, and the rich doctors/dentists/lawyers/hipsters) -
Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???

YouTubers get double value out of it! They can do the first video, then a SECOND VIDEO about why the first video was wrong ? Exactly. YouTube rewards people for going big on predictions/claims, rather than more nuanced mild views. They're sometimes even daily. Or at least multiple times a week. All in all the Northups play "The YouTube Game" really really well (& I do admire them for that, they've got 100,000x more success than my YT channel will ever have), but part of that is pushing hard to where the edges are (like predicting MFT will die! ha), however sometimes that means going too far by accident.... which is what they did with that video. No, but the GH5S illustrates how the gap is and will be closer than many others think. Will be interesting to see how far ahead the a7Smk3 pushes ahead when (if?) it launches. There isn't always a simple linear relationship between things in life. A 100ft bridge isn't simply 10x harder than a 10ft bridge. A 100,000 list isn't simply 10x faster to sort than a 1,000,000 list. If there was, we'd all be shooting with sensors of size 1ft x 1ft No, BIGGER!! Technology will nearly always benefit in the smaller sensor first. As smaller sensors are easier/cheaper to build than big large wafers of silicon. -
Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
IronFilm replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
I wasn't necessarily saying that in a hardcore bad way..... (neither a good way? Lukewarm?) As yes I respect him for his channel size and the hard work he puts into that. I know it isn't easy! Just I'm highlighting the fact when he says "MFT IS GOING TO DIE!!!!" you should take it with a big grain of salt, as very likely a big part of that reason is for the views..... Oh yes, much better than some other channels. He is actually a guy I watch more often than not. -
Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???

Or Nikon Z7 + Z6 Or Fujifilm X-Pro3 + X-H2 (if those two get an update in 2019? Maybe) -
Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
IronFilm replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
Modern lenses already resolve way more than we need for 4K video. This point you raised is almost irrelevant for us. They can duplicate a lot of tech across the camera ranges. Nearly all the main players are supporting at least two sensor sizes with their ILCs: Nikon/Canon/Pentax/Sony/FujiFilm/Leica/etc.... Sigma/Olympus/Panasonic were the odd ones out here. But now Sigma(probably?) and Panasonic will be joining the rest and having two different sensor sizes at once. (will be curious if Olympus stays focused purely on only the one sensor size: MFT. Or if they'll join L mount, or something else? I suspect they'll stay with MFT, but L mount odds are not too far behind, with anything else being unlikely) You mean Tony "The Clickbait King" Northup? Two whole stops? Don't just judge the noise of the image. Consider when the color accuracy with the image fulls apart. Panasonic holds up better, while Sony goes yuck at high ISOs. Then try pushing around in the grade the 10bit image of the Panasonic vs the 8bit of the Sony, then see how quickly your "two stops better" Sony image falls apart. Then remember also you need to stop down your lens two stops to have the same working DoF as the GH5S, unless you hate your 1st AC?? The real life difference is much smaller between a GH5S and a7Smk2, I'd even argue the GH5S is better in lowlight to shoot with. -
a) no proof has been given as to what sensor is being used & b) there are a billion other factors which go into the image than merely what sensor is used! And on top of that there are a billion other factors which go into a camera choice than just the image.

The answer can be summed up in three letter: "FS7" Even in nearly 2019 the FS7 is a tough bugger to knock off the throne Plus even if tomorrow a new camera was launched which thrashed the FS7 in every aspect then people are still slow to change and are stuck in their ways Especially non-technical producers and directors (and even cam ops!) Was just reading in a dvxuser forum thread a guy who got the C300 mk1 when it first launched then sold it and got a FS7 when it first launched (what good timing with each!) And he mentioned how for the first six months people were still only ever asking for the C300

IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Sure, I agree. But @Castorp brought up F4 primes and I was giving that as an example that I'd find F4 pancakes interesting. Although you're right, F2.8 might give you a whole stop more but at not much more of a weight/size penalty -
Oh yes, the RED ONE M (before it got the new MX sensor) was pretty bad, although my friend still shoots quite a lot with it! Sure, for indie filmmakers and little corporate shooters who don't care about all the flaws the C200 has vs the C700. Such as: no 10bit codec, no SDI/HDMI at once (WTF???), no TC, etc No. For YOU personally then the MAVO LF is unable to justify its price. And on that point I fully agree with you. It doesn't sound like it is the right camera for you. But I still claim the MAVO LF has a place in the market for filmmakers who want a very high end specced camera for a drastically lower price. (just like BMD does with their cameras such as the UMP, which has many many fans on this forum) Check out my post over in the Z Cam E2 thread. ProRes already exists right now in the Z Cam E2.

If I saw the G85 with its kit lens for $450 then I'd surely jump on that. But will likely take until 2019 for that to happen
-
Saw a discussion about this on Facebook in the EVA1 owners group, some are quite sad at how far the prices of EVA1 have fallen recently! As a non-EVA1 owner this however is good news :-P
-
Do you have proof? Could be made my Panasonic or Samsung instead. Who knows.

Over on PV Forums then @eatstoomuchjam reports that with a little hacking he can already record ProRes HQ 4K on his Z Cam E2. Just needs a flag to be enabled in the existing firmware. So ProRes is already 100% ready to go on the E2, but Z Cam is waiting before enabling it.... probably just the final rubber stamping approval from Apple.
