Nikon Z7 is at EOSHD HQ - better video than Sony?

Wait what, Ken Rockwell switched to Canon??? Madness -
I really really should do this myself, as it is a smart idea, but I'm lazy.... however it would also be so simple to do.

Why the camera press need to grow a pair of balls

I'm not stopping! Neither should Andrew Just we can pick a different (and better) path than Wolfcrow has been doing over the years -
Waxy skin is a quick and cheap make up artist

By the time smartphones truly catch up, then APS-C sensor design will have leaped forward themselves many times over. And yeah, I too don't see APS-C being dumped for Medium Format. As Medium Format still means very large and bulky lenses, no matter how small you make the body. And APS-C will always keep an edge in that area. (this is also why I reckon MFT still has a shot at surviving into the future in the long term) How did you get that pic of me? Remember how in the earliest days of digital DSLRs that they put a "crop sensor" inside the early DSLRs? But that was merely a temporary stepping stone until "full frame sensors" because technically possible/affordable. I believe the same is happening now with digital medium format. That it is only a matter of time until they put a bigger sensor behind their current mount.

Used to own a cyclocross bike! Wish I still had it. Got drunk last year and lost it.... I'd get a cyclocross bike again if I saw a bargain priced one again. Purchased another bicycle today, just a cheapie with Alu frame + carbon fork + Tiagra groupset.

Trying to keep my hopes in check! Guessing a DX mirrorless (with the specs I'm hoping for) around the D7500 price is much much more likely than one priced nearer a D5600 price. (but if so, that would be awesome!) -
If a lack of 4K is not a deal breaker for you (maaaaaaaybe? You're shooting with a FS5 after all, not a FS7 which is what I'd go with if 4K was really important) then perhaps consider even the a6000 which is dirt cheap but shoots nice 1080 XAVC-S (better actually than the a6500/a6300!). Or even the a7Smk1 is cheap on eBay now (and if you've got a recorder already, you'll have your 4K as a bonus).

You're going to ask for a loaner, or you have a friend who is getting one you can borrow?

I'm 100% sure if you're top of the wedding game in London you'll be getting more than £3k/wedding!

That is my attitude about the Z7 discussions, it is all absolutely fascinating because it gives an insight as to what the Z6 will be. Which is the camera that will be of most interest to many videographers here on EOSHD over the Z7 (unless they're either a hardcore photographer as well, and/or just want the latest right now and can't wait. Or just are Mr Moneybags!) But I'm holding out hopes Nikon won't ignore DX mirrorless. Because an APS-C Z6 for $1.2K? (D7500 pricing, but mirrorless and updated with full sensor 4K read out and 10bit output with N Log) Yes please. -
Go for GH5/GH5S, the multi aspect ratio sensor will almost almost give you similar FoV to what APS-C gives you

Thinking about timecode was also very impressive. Although still waiting to see a bit more details, like how is it being jammed? Sounds like I need to buy another Nikon -
And in my view it is even less likely the 1D C will get ML

This is true for Sony FE cameras. But the likes of Nikon Z mount should have the potential for a FF camera with IBIS just as good as Panasonic/Olympus.

That was beautiful. When he said "a hunt only succeeds once every 20 times" it made me think, they might very well have filmed twenty of these polar beer hunts before finally getting this clip which made the edit!

Bingo. And the same could be said about film producers as about books. Producers know their audiences, they know what it takes with a production to get a certain type of movie made, they know what is hot or not in the market at the moment, etc... and they're looking for writers/directors/stories which match this interlocked mesh of needs/wants they have. Been somewhat trying to make this point with a few of my friends lately.

We were discussing this in another thread recently, but if a person wants the "hand held look" without too much over the top "bad" shake, then they should seriously look into getting an EasyRig. That is how the pros do that motion look.

The on going saga is still on going..... now they want me to come over and do it for them. :-/ Seriously? And what point should I just charge them for post production services. (I didn't charge for the Tentacles btw, just threw it in as a bonus) Why can't they just sync it up the old fashioned away by hand?? (or with PluralEyes) Well nope, they can't even figure out how to do that! Seriously.... It is always nice to dream! Anyway, the BMMCC made some very nice refinements over the BMPCC which means if I saw a Micro for US$500 (welllllll.... prior to the BMPCC4K coming out that is) then I'd have snapped it up: 1) longer battery life 2) bigger HDMI port 3) 60fps slow motion 4) timecode And more! Any one of those could be a big reason for a person to prefer the Micro over the Pocket, and together, they make for a very compelling case!
