  1. Nooooooooooooooooooo............ don't do that! I very much greatly enjoy reading JB's contributions. And I'm 100% certain that in the future I'll find myself going back and reading them again when I'm looking something up.
  2. From Cinema5D themselves.... Although I think the reason they said recently is because they changed their test methodology? Anyway, they so often get things so very wrong, that I'd take anything they do with a very big grain of salt!
  3. Lucky break then that Brexit happened ?
  4. Would be even better if someone other than Cinema5D did it....
  5. I understood a few words, like when he said "ISO". But I'll have to get my gf to explain the rest
  6. Was that DR701D a recorder that Panasonic had there to test with the GH5S, or had someone else brought along the Tascam?
  7. I have been watching and really enjoying the TV series "The Resident", and this was ages before I even realized that @John Brawley is the DoP for it!! (which I discovered thanks to his postings to EOSHD right here)
  8. As a freelancer myself, I need to get much more into the habit of doing this myself as well. But I'm too shy? And not even too sure how to word it and go about it. Because it absolutely will make a difference. Often it is less what you know but who you know. There are soundies (and true in other crew positions too), who have much less technical expertise than me, worse gear, or less experience, yet they seem to get more work than me.
  9. This. I'd recommend Andrew you just write them a polite note saying "hey, I'd like to get a hands on demo of the BMPCC4K soon in the near future for a preview on my site EOSHD", I'm bet they're very likely to reply back with "sure!" and let you come down to have a play around with it for a couple of hours at their HQ. You never know until you just ask. As it very likely was just an honest mistake to exclude you. Probably the event was organized by clueless marketing folks who wouldn't recognise an appropriate filmmaking expert if it was thrown at them, and instead invited portrait photographers and smartphone reviewers. Because they're all the same to them. Edit: ah never mind, I caught up and read the other posts which came later on.
  10. Ah yes, my bad, should have been referring to only the C300 mk1 there.
  11. I didn't know this: https://www.nippon.com/en/features/c00511/ Fujifilm makes cosmetics/skincare as well! They entered this area and leveraged their decades of experience in making skin tones look beautiful. I've used 13 batteries in a single day as an AC on a music video with a BMPCC
  12. Yes exactly, how is a camera meant to read your mind and know which face to follow? So this is perfectly good performance for automatic focus
  13. 50 Mbps 422 codec That is almost merely all that "broadcast codec" means. Which is what the C300mk1 did, and the EOS R Even though the Sony PMW-F3 is a "better" camera technically in what it can do than a C300mk1, this big missing feature of no internal "broadcast codec" is one of the reason it wasn't as successful as the C300mk1 (and is a reason why you can now buy the F3 so much cheaper than a C300).

  15. Store the gorillapod separately in the bag from the camera. If questioned, say the gorillapod is a sex toy.
  16. I feel like that is a reasonable analysis. Canon might have gradually slipped behind everyone else, not just externally with the products they're shipping but slipped behind internally in terms of what their R&D teams are capable of. Thus Canon might not even be capable of matching the competition spec for spec in every area. Thus why they "gave" C log and external 10bit 422 as it was the last cards left holding to offer.
  17. That is true all the way down.... many people own a 5D when a 70D could serve their needs perfectly well. And plenty of 70D owners who don't do anything with it that a Canon Rebel couldn't do. And ditto many Rebel owners who might as well have just stuck with their smartphone! Or they could have rented a GH5, and put that spare money into renting lights etc and paying their crew Was DoP on a shoot earlier this year in which the director had already arranged renting a RED Weapon, am glad I talked him into instead using 2x Sony PMW-F3 and hiring lights + crew. I'm guilty of this too! Not just cameras, but buying more sound gear than I really truly "need" right now.
  18. You totally could! If your style is locked off shots, straight to camera in your home.
  19. Usually it is the recorder/monitor combos which get super hot
  20. No. How hot is yours? Boiling eggs on it hot?
  21. I'm bad at math. What is double of almost nothing?
  22. Exactly, so as we see more and more great Z7 videos that only gets me excited for the Z6! Cheap *and* better. Win-win.
  23. It is not just the excellent B Cam options to use alongside their cinema cameras, but also it provides a natural upgrade path for their users. Got an a6300? Then upgrade to the a7Smk2 But have a M50, where do you go, nowhere really? Have a 80D, does it really make sense to buy a 5Dmk4?! This is also the flaw Panasonic made by not having a smooth upgrade path from G7 to GH5 to EVA1, the simple fix is bring out an EVA1 MFT
