Canon is screwing up so very badly that I fear even fanbodys might soon need to stop being blind to Canon's failings. Canon fanboys might soon be an endangered species on EOSHD! Let him stay, we can show our tolerance towards poor discriminated and endangered minorities.

Wish more cameras would offer 2K as an option We need more than just the boring old UHD / 1080 / 720 resolutions in the usual 16:9! Give us ALL THE OPTIONS in aspect ratios and frame rates

But neither the Panasonic or Sony will make you a cup of coffee, and there will be hundred page threads about how come they can cook you dinner but can't do something as simple as make you a cup of coffee??

Yup, the odds of seeing a ML hack is roughly the same as the odds combined of a new Samsung body, Sony, or Panasonic body getting hacked. (after all the excitement of a GH2, basically everything non-ML died away. Aside from some bits and bobs, like NikonHacker doing a few things, or the now dead NX1, or G7 etc get time unlocked, etc) So basically the odds are not non-existent, but they are slim.

Sadly I've seen nothing about this ?

Can we all just have a big f***ing laugh about this...

Many $$$$$$$$$$$$ of savings right there! -
f1.4 vs f1.8 isn't really a massively big deal, especially as the f1.8 will be sharp wide open. You need to ignore all the photographers, they care about completely different things to what us filmmakers want. Single card slot? Not a big deal for us! Go for Nikon then! Not exciting on paper?? Depends on your perspective. First ever affordable 4K 10bit vistavision camera is plenty exciting for many people. And timecode etc will be gravy on top. Someone is feeling wildly optomistic tonight.

To summarize. if we ignore: This big missing spec. This other big missing spec. This lack lasture spec. This omission. And a few other odds and ends. Then.... Canon made a "pretty darn good camera" which beats many others from 2015!

The best thing Nikon could do next is license their new Z mount to a third party to specifically build an EF adapter. (as would be weird for Nikon to do that themselves! But would be bold of them to do so.... wouldn't mind them if they did! :-o ) Not just the 5Dmk2 Look at the 5Dmk3 vs the D800 or D750, Canon is waaaaaay behind as a stills camera. Or *any* Canon APS-C vs a D5x00/D7x00/D500!

There are F1.4 lenses with a T stop of T1.5 True. Might be the only feature from the EOS R I wish others had? Perfect then to keep you locked to EOS R system! Oh, maybe that Canon's plan.... Anyway that f2 FF zoom is heavy and MASSIVE .

Why the camera press need to grow a pair of balls

Canon. -
Ha! But wait.... ! They have a firmware update coming for silent shooting This kinda smells like Canon feels threatened by the Nikon Z7/Z6 (and Sony & the rest) and felt forced to rush something out, even though it wasn't ready to Canon's standards.

When I die, I want Canon to lower my casket at my funeral so they can let me down one last time.

YouTube earnings have turned into a pittance. Affiliates and their own products/merch would be their main ways. "No Such Thing as a Free Lunch" It is a common theme that as the supply of jobs for journalists tries up, they've shifted to marketing instead. If the threshold to inviting people was "would they sell two cameras?" then even nobodies like me would get an invite! But of course that would never happen. Canon's threshold of how much influence a person has over sales is much higher than that. -

The profit margin on a camera is nowhere near that big. -

It does seem like a waaaaaaaaay over the top expensive by Canon to me, when anywhere on Continental America would've been cheaper to do! (it would have been even cheaper to run two events simultaneously, East Cost and West Cost, to save flying people over from one side of the USA to the other) But of course Canon is company about making a profit, thus they must have figured out that these "journalists" would give back to Canon more value than it costs to fly them to Hawaii. -
Sound Devices MixPre3 or something like the Panasonic DMW-XLR1, or if being super ultra frugal.... the Tascam DR60Dmk2 That would be a most hilarious troll (and classic Canon!) if they gave us 10bit 422 over HDMI but limited it to 1080!! Key point there is the variable ND adapter won't arrive until February 2019! Ah well Same as Nikon :-/ Ah well, at least no one has an advantage here. I wonder which will be unlocked first by a third party figuring it out on their own?

And cine Zooms too! Fuji's own 18-55 and 50-135 T2.9! I am still utterly amazed that people don't understand this. Take a photo: snip out a "crop" of the pic. Is the exposure the same as with the "full" picture? OF COURSE IT IS!

Perfect timing by Atomos with the the Nikon Z6/Z7 and Canon EOS R are just around the corner. Have my fingers they'll offer SDI in the near future! Perfect then to use with a Sony FS700
