The flip out screen is the hint for vloggers. That is one thing that I hope Nikon/Sony respond to! It trully is helpful for vlogging

Surprise surprise, the Nikon Z6 is still a better and cheaper camera for us filmmakers than the newly announced Canon EOS R! Sure, it gained 10bit output and log (just like the Nikon Z6), but it basically is still a Canon 5Dmk4 (which means an awful crop, so why bother buying a FF camera in the first place? And no IBIS!).
-
That kinda used to the be filming scenario with how easily Canon DSLRs and Sony mirrorless used to heat up.... Anyway, I got Andrew's analogy easily enough. He was pointing that Canon video shooters are meant to put up with something the still's shooters of Canon never would put up with for even one photo!

You can add to that list: Failing to leverage the success of their MFT, and large base of GH buyers who are looking to move on up, by screwing up the Panasonic EVA1 launch by only offering it with a competitor's mount. Exactly. At least Nikon allows DX lenses on their FX cameras. Additionally I'd care a LOT LESS about a crop if it is on a mirrorless mount (than if it is on a DSLR mount).

A well polished 1hr long scripted film is going to take much much longer than merely 10hours of post production in total. I dunno, maybe if you put a sidecar on that motorcycle? ? People also buy them for their ergonomics and consistency. Which a focal reducer doesn't exactly change. (or well, at least no more than a straight adapter would if used consistently)

I wonder if BMD will ever offer built in NR or sharpening? For users who wanted SOOC footage closer to what they desire.

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
IronFilm replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
Agreed, it would be devastating for the MFT Ecosystem as a whole if Panasonic announced a new mount. Going medium format might be the one exception when it comes to introducing a new mount. As the gap from MFT to Medium Format could be a large enough gap to keep them seperated out as two very different lines. -
Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
IronFilm replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
I agree, in this declining market it is madness to see three new mounts pop up in as many weeks! LOL! Maybe with new epic pixel shift tech to market it as "higher resolution"? :-P But yeah, that is a no go. However I'd still like to see the GH5S sensor in a cheaper body. -

A teeny teeny tiny percentage of big budget feature films are shot on vistavision sized sensors. -
Simple solution: Tentacle Sync E

2030? Someone is feeling optimistic. That is only twelve years away!

A little. Is why I wished they had a more flexible cord. On the upside, it means they're more durable! And will surely last long? Guess it is a compromise trade off. They're compatible.
-
I'm happy with them, except I wish they'd used a more flexible cable. They're $75 unterminated, then another $19 for the Sony end

You've covered a good chunk of the popular options already. OST Lavs like Kisaha said is another, also keep out the Countryman B3 as well. Voice Technology is another brand too to take a look at.

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???

What the hell Panasonic?? Noooo... stick with making awesome MFT cameras! -
So stupid, as if BMD was dumb enough to fake footage, they wouldn't use another small camera to create this fake "awesome footage", they'd use a big ARRI ALEXA or their own UMP! A very good idea! But probably wouldn't shut up those who just want something to complain about.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yup, the fact a compact 5" and very affordable 4K recorder is coming out at the same time does significantly increase the appeal of the Z6! Those are pretty good points Robert, and could explain some of the reactions we've seen. -
A new mount seems like a very dumb idea for them, as it means abandoning EF-M! (can't it do FF??) Would mean starting from scratch, and leaving their many EF-M owners stranded. I can't see them doing that. Not unless the EF-M mount can't support FF (which would have been a dumb dumb mistake indeed!), and/or if they're doing a big bold gamble such as a new mount which can support both FF and MF! :-o (however having no entry level APS-C cameras for the bulk of their sales and for newbies to dip their toes in, would likely be a far too risky strategy) That infringes upon my patent for autodriving flying pigs!

What do you love about it? The low base ISO (that you really can't go up from) however raises a lot of practical issues when shooting with it for most people.
-
And that is exactly why every production should ideally have a sound professional on set managing timecode, as you never knew when a shot might be too windy, too wide, too far away, or through a window, and thus the scratch mic has no relevance at all to the audio that was recorded.

Very excited to have got my new Tentacle Sync E timecode boxes:
-
Offer him $5, that is what it is worth.

Maybe does something else with their APS-C f2.8 tele zoom, perhaps make it 35-100mm f2.8? Or 50-200 f2.8?

Finally finally, after an initial failed attempted, I have purchased and got a SLR Magic 8mm f4 lens: Will be a fantastic lens I'm sure for my future vlogs, will mean it is easier for me to keep everything in frame even when handheld filming myself and trying to concentrate also on speaking etc
