How are you using your F4? Are you using it as a sound recordist in a bag? As if so I'd be very anti towards using V mount batteries (even though it seems the majority of my friends locally are doing that approach?!?! Crazy....). as got to keep that weight down! This is what I love about how lightweight a small BP-30 battery is, in that it can power my F4 for almost an entire day. The battery plate I used years ago seems to not be available any longer, but it is very almost identical to this one: http://www.hawkwoods.co.uk/Prods/Product/HB-C1 That is my emergency back up plan (as I own plenty of NP-F batteries a well), which thankfully I've never needed to do (although I've tested it out, and does work as I'd expect). Although I'm not using the Neewer model, but some other cheap chinese knock off which does have a D tap built in (that the Neewer lacks), thus I can run that D Tap straight to Hirose without needing any of those other V mount products you listed. (they'd be good for a cart build, but not a bag!!)

AJA tried and failed. BMD did so successfully. So there is a mixed record of recorder manufacturers getting into the camera business by adding on a sensor to their recorders. And the market is much more competitive now than when BMD started out!

I think the only battle tested bodies Kinefinity has offered is the KineMINI, and that was years ago

A History of the Kinefinity company (google translate is your friend!): https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/kfL34lPKCA4ZO0f9VbBfWw Another article which is in English though, worth a read: http://kinecommunity.com/kinefinity-past-present-future/

Great news for the original F8 owners: https://www.zoom.co.jp/news/F8_update

There are zillions of different youtube channels, you can find whatever you like. You can also find anything you don't like! So just ignore them You want some great cinematography discussion channels? Then check out some like these: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnw2-4hXY26-W2w9Ja9GBvw https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtTjh6GOn218KbjhF8mtFLA https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-Ya9gBlwOhRwtloTn1hvbA https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt7_XcAZ6vyc0j55qWDrjZQ What sound channels instead? Then sub to these ones: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtHYM50mRY7o-VMGhEDzOnw https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqtCwfDs0b8xhEl6WhwhmqA https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0vDTntQjs8RD4F6XRlducA https://www.youtube.com/c/SoundSpeeding ? Don't want to watch Jake Paul's videos? I have a very simple solution for you: don't! Easy. I'd rather watch a good 6 minute video than one which drags it out to 12 minutes. Many people make there videos be a bit longer than 10 minutes by a bit, as you get more ad revenue once it is longer than 10 minutes.

Kids these days would rather have a pic with Casey Neistat than Will Smith:

Possibly is old news to many here, but this was news to me, an entire magazine edition devoted to anamorphic lenses: http://www.fdtimes.com/pdfs/articles/anamorphic/FDTimes-Anamorphic-Special-May2015.pdf This was also a good watch:

I'm sure you mean the F55 and not the FS5 As there is a MASSIVE difference between the two. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?356731-Sense-8 Edit: gah, I replied too soon.... as Ben pointed out. This is also why some people prefer to write them easy as Fs-5 vs F-55, so as to make the difference crystal clear.

Ok, now it is getting to be connected. But was very very very slow, unlike the first time I connected. Annnnnnndddd.... now I'm back to being unable to connect. Seeing as I can't see the user panel, I can't recall what the default WiFi password was either, was it 12345678 I think?
-
Well this is annoying, and a reset doesn't fix this either.

Hopefully a few DX zooms too! Nikon really dropped the ball with their DX lenses for DSLRs (as Thom often buzzes about), hopefully they won't do this again for mirrorless

I'd still happily buy a cheap Nikon D750/D7500/D500/D850/D810/D800/D7100/D7200 if I see one on sale at a very attractive price, there is still lots of life left in the Nikon F ecosystem! I'm surprised Sony never put an APS-C sensor in an a7 body! A Sony "a7000" semi pro camera

The old Samsung NX300 is still getting good use on shoots! :-) Not a dead system yet. I used my NX300 for this vlog for my youtube channel. Was about using an Atomos Shogun Inferno on this shoot I did to tap into the "slow motion" 60fps from our Sony PMW-F3 cameras for this dance scene, it came out beautifully: The most shit audio ever in the world. but that is because the room we were in sucked. This was just using the NX300 audio. I wished it had an audio 3.5mm jack!
-
Clear as mud! But yeah, I think it will be beefier with the ergonomics that NX1 users liked rather than the awkwardness of the early Sony products

One of the reasons I love Kinefinity! They've got their ecosystem as open as possible, compared to RED. Use any batteries you like in their Kinegrip, use any media you like to record to, etc ProRes 4K Raw with the FS700 is what really tempts me in

Sometimes I'm tempted to go shoot an entire feature film improvised with only a rough outline, but that is just because I'm lazy and I need to find a script writer to partner with! It was an on camera mic? (oh wait, maybe maybe there was one lav) Nearly 10 minutes is quite a long short film to do in only 6hrs, I'd keep it more compact. From my skim over your film I feel it would benefit from snappier cuts? But then again a couple of weeks ago I shot around 20 pages of script in only a single day :-o Shit
-
The key point I felt @ONimbus' had was to take the mic off your camera, so you can get it in closer! The rest of it is just mere details after that point, relatively speaking. Which you can't do if shooting solo. (well.... you can run lavs on everyone, but that has their own unique hassles, plus the costs of each wireless channel) Although sometimes, with care, you can boom shots in a film even if shooting solo! :-o I did this little short film with a friend: The whole thing was done over one Saturday night at his house. He directed, and played *BOTH* actors, while I did camera/lighting/sound all at once! A C-Stand helped a lot to boom in the mic closer while I focused on the camera. Oh, and I did this shoot while drinking and getting drunk for a saturday night out in town! ? Was just a casual fun get together with a friend, and we made a film in a few hours by ourselves.
-
@OzNimbus oh hey, I've been watching some of your videos beforehand! Nice to bump into you on EOSHD :-) Say hi if you ever cross the ditch to NZ! ? I have my own small shitty youtube channel myself: https://www.youtube.com/c/SoundSpeeding

Tonnes of people shoot at 1080/2K with a 4K camera. At a wild guess I'd say well under half of the shoots I'm on are done at 4K But raw 1080 would be a substantial crop I'd rather use the full sensor to shoot at 1080 ProRes HQ

New thread time please! :-) There was a good little thread over in dvxuser recently about how to promote a non-4K camera to clients in this 4K world: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?361174-Pitching-F35-to-clients-production-companies I would like to see more discussions around how we don't have to shoot 4K all the time

Although some careers have been damaged by questionable allegations regarding personal choices in the past that were socially acceptable at the time, I think we can all agree that any movement which results in overdue justice like this is well-worth the price: https://babylonbee.com/news/kevin-costner-kicked-off-project-after-allegations-surface-that-he-starred-in-waterworld/
