Exactly, the GH5 is having a long run there sitting in the throne! This might be the best reasonable suggestion I've seen for the BMPCC4K since its announcement! Fair point. I do indeed hate how they twist around. Shot a music event tonight with my original BMPCC, and oh man does that screen sometimes suck to get good focus/exposure with! The bigger screen (and higher resolution I assume, and better quality) would have been so nice! And if only it tilted.... as titling is so very very often useful, not just for vlogging with!

"they haven't used it in any previous camera" ("they" referring of course to BMD) What interview are you referring to? Please share.
-
Guesses at how many hundreds of pages long it will be by then?!
-
Grant filmed and showed footage he'd just taken, all done LIVE during their announcement. Because the current cameras shown are not the final weight. They'll be a few hundreds of grams even lighter?
-
Now it is "361 people have added it to their basket"! :-o x0.71 isn't much, works with normal MFT cameras just fine BMD is privately held. (and I reckon is a major factor in why they can push so hard to be innovative like this)
-
I'd assume so, I'd be gutted if you can't! Also the 3.5mm is a stereo input, thus I hope all three channels can be recorded at once! That would be awesome.
-
Or just limit it to only tripod shots. It can't be worse than what RED ONE shooters had to deal with! Remember how awful RED-DRIVEs were. True, Canon EOS is burred six feet under by this point in time it is so dead.

You joke, but.... https://www.provideocoalition.com/bulletx-c-47

Arguably better.... the FS5 doesn't do 4K 10bit internal.
-
He was meaning they could already film with it in the lab, but they can't take it outdoors into the open to film with because it is an unannounced camera!!! Of course now everyone knows about it, they're quite free to take it out into public to have a play around with filming with the BMPCC4K rather than staying confined to the insides of a lab.
-
Well in the interview I remembered watching he said "by us" or similar words to that effect.
-
Looks fine to me! The camera isn't the one which is on camera, model level good looks are not needed! The BMPCC4K is not S16, it is an "oversized" MFT sensor.
-
They meant never used by any other camera from BMD. Not that it never been used by anyone ever before.

Been reading around comments elsewhere. And found it strange how some people are saying USB-C drives are "expensive". Yes, please tell me more about how a 128gig drive which costs less than forty bucks is "almost as expensive as a CFast card"! https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-128GB-Type-C-SDDDC2-128G-G46/dp/B01EZ0X55C/ And heck, if you're just doing a basic shot on a tripod that is running for ages (say a locked off shot at an event) you could get a FOUR TERABYTE harddrive for less than US$170: https://www.amazon.com/G-Technology-G-DRIVE-USB-C-External-0G05666/dp/B06ZY3N7QC/ This is indeed a major feature by BMD! I remember when I first purchased my original BMPCC I had to spend a small fortune on fast enough and big enough SD cards. Ditto SSD prices when the BMCC first launched, or CFast prices when the big URSA first launched.

Isn't S16 in the new BMPCC4K, so "same" as Terra4K/GH5S/ZCamE2
-
Wellllll..... heh, I never thought the MixPres were quite as appealing for value for money as the F4/F8 anyway. So this doesn't change that, it just further extends Zoom value for money dominance in the low end.
-
A Zoom rep is here in this video talking about the Zoom F8n, a "sneak peak": The recorder is still a few months away ("July"), and details are not yet concrete (price is looking to be twelve hundred dollars). But some specs we can expect: Updated GUI Selectable line/mic input New battery slot Look ahead limiters Better headphone Amp! Improved voltage range for Hirose inputs Anticipated July delivery with pricing around US$1200
-
Exactly.
-
I'd assume it would be.

Well the BMPCC was a "cinema camera", thus external power/audio/screen is essential if you want high quality. Just like if you used an Arri / RED / etc! I don't get why people didn't get this. Instead expecting something completely different. However it appears BMD really took this criticism to heat, and have greatly improved the audio and internal battery life. However the audio in even the original BMPCC isn't that awful if just for casual usage, a lot of my vlog videos are audio straight into the BMPCC with no editing. https://www.youtube.com/c/SoundSpeeding

https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/api/print/ca/products/blackmagicpocketcinemacamera/techspecs/W-CIN-12?filename=blackmagic-pocket-cinema-camera-4k-techspecs.pdf Stoked that the BMPCC4K is going to support timecode input on the 3.5mm just like the BMD Micro Cinema Camera also does. This would be the third MFT camera with TC input supported! http://ironfilm.co.nz/leaked-the-specs-of-the-panasonic-gh5s-finally-we-get-the-first-stills-camera-with-timecode-i-o/

Well the Kinefinity Terra 4K / GH5S / BMPCC4K are suspected to share the same sensor. Then it is up to the camera manufacturer as to who gets the most out of it.

I'm seeing online people sell their URSA Minis and GH5/GH5S for a BMPCC4K instead. It is happening! Bit premature though as won't ship until September
-
This was true at launch for each. As a5100 had XAVCS and a6000 didn't But later the a6000 got a firmware update for XAVCS Oh and btw just like many Sony mirorless the a5100 overheats easily. Just get a cheap G7 (or Maybe G80 for the IBIS) while you wait for a BMPCC4K. Once you consider the license price of Resolve, it is the same price as the original BMPCC!
