  1. Yeah I wasn't bothering to correct that, I'm giving them the benefit of doubt they know about top secret new lens under development ;-)
  2. Ha! But more seriously, if a person wants a very strong projector at a low cost maybe buy a cheapie then swap out for a stronger LED themselves?? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-DIY-1080p-HD-projector-120W-high-lumen-10000-10-7-diy-replace-projector-led/32816906185.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.137.57f51530x2qXXa&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_4_10065_10344_10068_10547_10342_10343_10340_10548_10341_10084_10083_10618_10307_5722315_10313_10059_10534_100031_10103_441_10624_442_10623_10622_10621_10620_10142,searchweb201603_25,ppcSwitch_5&algo_expid=4864ef99-5476-4392-b1d5-5a8b444dcd01-18&algo_pvid=4864ef99-5476-4392-b1d5-5a8b444dcd01&priceBeautifyAB=0
  3. Wonder if we'll still be seeing features shot on a RED ONE in a decade from now? Any one here in this forum have first hand experience with the first version? I know the M sensor is a lot worse than MX, but would be interesting to hear more in the context of 2018
  4. I'm still hanging out to hope a 5" Aputure monitor comes out this year.
  5. I was so tempted by this when the KS launched. Glad I showed some will power! :-D

    NX2 rumors

If I was in the market for a new camera I'd be in too! Although to be fair I should drive a stake through my G.A.S..... and just quit with the cycle of buying cameras, but it is tough to stop! However $2.5K could go half way towards say buying a Sound Devices 688 True, even a 4/3" crop of the existing NX1 APS-C 28megapixel sensor could be interesting to MFT manufacturers (Panasonic/Olympus/DJI/BMD/Yi/&more). I think this is the best chance for a "NX2" (be it merely a prototype, or something they sell as a limited release), is purely as an advertising tool for Samsung's cellphones (to showcase the processor) and/or to other camera manufactures (to tempt them to buy the sensor). But I'm skeptical the ROI is there for the R&D for a whole new camera (unless just merely a rough and ready test bed prototype) just as a marketing tool.
  7. It gives a substantial reach advantage, I'd go for that if I was doing run&gun event/doco work.
  8. Hitting up Amazon suggests the answer is no: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st_price-asc-rank?keywords=10000+lumens+projector&fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A300334%2Ck%3A10000+lumens+projector%2Cp_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A3235178011&qid=1517926773&sort=price-asc-rank (although, there is only one on Amazon with that level of rated brightness, and it is the most expensive one! Over $20K)
  9. Kinda wish I had a GH2 with ETC mode to use it with:
  10. And if any one feels like buying one, there is a Sony F23 for under US$3K on ebay right now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-F23-Cinealta-Digital-Cinema-Camera/282528230666

    NX2 rumors

So long as Nikon also has great usability (waveforms like GH5 has would be nice, and ability to punch in for focus while recording, that sort of stuff) and launches with an excellent Nikon F / "New_Mount" adapter, then this camera will be a rock star and sell like hotcakes. As the Nikon name still has a substantial amount of pulling power.
  12. I'd make the counterpoint that it is easier for a cinema camera which appeals to a niche market to thrive and remain viable than a mass market stills consumer camera.
  13. Any one considering the RED ONE in 2018?!

    NX2 rumors

I haven't heard this? Sources? Yeah, I would rate as another slim possibility is the "NX2" never gets sold but just was a test bed for development of a new APS-C sensor to sell to Canon / Nikon (or heck even Fujifilm, or Pentax? Maybe maybe even a small player like BMD or Kinefinity etc) Yeah but my hope is the "NX2" is a prototype they at least bother to put out to market, even if it is without any supporting new lenses or any high street stock supply etc...

    NX2 rumors

The only hope for this happening is if Samsung decides it is a good idea to do a limited release to showcase the power of the Samsung processor, purely as a promotional tool to promote Samsung smartphone sales! An unlikely but not impossible scenario.
  16. The only hope for this happening is if Samsung decides it is a good idea to do a limited release to showcase the power of the Samsung processor, purely as a promotional tool to promote Samsung smartphone sales! An unlikely but not impossible scenario. At least with UWA lenses the DoF is so deep it isn't unreasonable to just use a manual focus lens instead of a native lens with AF. So out of all the lenses for Samsung NX system to miss out on, this is the least of a person's worries. Phew
  17. And the F23 is even older than the F35, and I'm pretty sure the F23 had slog.
  18. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe this: https://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/good-true-high-end-samsung-aps-c-camera-based-exynos-9810-soc/
  19. Yes, but 2/3" is still small! I guess I should have mentioned the few 1" ones out there, that at least is nice.
  20. "NX500, 5Dmk3 killer?" What drugs are they on, doesn't need to "kill" a camera much much more expensive, just needs to "kill" say the Canon 70D! Which the NX500 totally does.
  21. Indeed, NAB is not far away as it is in early April. But then once NAB rolls round, and IF a camera is released which blows our socks off (next to zero chance that is from Samsung), we might very well have a few months to wait until it ships? Then unless you want to take the big risk of being an early adopter, you have a few more months to wait out to see independent reviews published and read user reports of it in practice. By this point in time, oh hey, 2019 NAB maybe isn't that far away.... and so the cycle carries on forever! Yeah I saw that too :-/ If not for EOSHD's forums I'd probably never have taken a serious look at the NX1! (leading to purchasing a NX300 dirt cheap, thinking I might next buy a NX1 and keep the NX300 as a dirt cheap B cam on the side. Although that never panned out)
  22. Oh :-( Didn't notice that until just now. May I ask why not?
  23. The EVA1 has a magnesium frame underneath (not cheap, but tough! And very lightweight metal for its strength), then plastic coverings to even further reduce the weight. All in all making for one incredibly lightweight cinema camera in the hand! And one you shouldn't need to worry about how "tough" it is.
  24. Gee, is a complete mystery why this got a downvote from a mod! :-P But @jonpais is completely right, to do tests you need to do them scientifically and controlled conditions to reduce as many variables as possible
  25. I prefer the handling of the C100 over the F3. But the C100 and F3 are in two different categories as cameras. When you comparing F3 vs C300, then the F3 nudges ahead by a nose for its handling. But I fully admit this is very subjective, and varies from person to person. Even with the same person, their views can change from job to job! Depending on the needs/style of the shoot. Note: genlock and timecode are two different things. Just in case maybe you might be confusing the two?
