I wasn't necessarily commenting from the perspective of mainly having it as a rental, rather the focus being on as an independent owner op or own content producer. Don't need to spend $5K, there are $1.5K new tripods I'd feel fine about using a secondhand Arri Alexa Classic with. Likewise super curious myself, at the very least the next chance I'm on a shoot with an Arri Alexa Classic (but who knows when that is) I will bring along my SxS/SD adapters to give them a spin and try my luck.

Because it is a recorder too. And cheap.

I bet one of the Chinese brands will emerge as a major player in the mirrorless world. Such as Yi, Kinefinity, or DJI. Or maybe some Chinese brand will surprise us out of the blue like Aputure and make a camera. Or even more likely, it could be a new brand name we have not even heard of.

Makes a LOT more sense. So that it doesn't harm the Christmas sales.

That certainly is not the kind of "low light" scenario where a GH5/G80/etc would be unacceptable. Check out the Feelworld F570 (or F550) 5" is ok ish for pulling focus, but bigger is better. This is why 7" or large is ideal for a 1st AC. While 5" ish or less is ideal for a cam op.

Is it really that important? Unless you get a resolution boost (like with the a7S mk1) or a bit depth boost (such as GH4 or F3), then I don't see the point. Not a compromise I'd lean towards. And this why I struggle to see why people would prefer Sony over a Panasonic G80/G85. (ditto it kinda applies to the next tier up too, GH5 vs a7S/A7R series) Exactly!

Problem is whenever it finally finally comes out, then it will likely be priced similar to a Panasonic EVA1 / Sony FS5. But with some weird crippling... perhaps the bloated 4K codec of the 5Dmk4? Or some other weird drawbacks. Exactly. Which is why I'd love to have a Fujinon MK18-55mm T2.9 & MK50-135mm T2.9 (and for the occasional high speed use, my cheap Rokinon Cine DS lenses could be used) But even with their "cheap" prices it would still sadly be only dreaming for me to have them one day. (btw, they work on not just E mount, but FZ mount too! Could be used with my Sony PMW-F3) However if I was to refocus on camera work, instead of the sound department, then I'd give serious thought to buying it.

Of Sigma's zooms... that is only the 24-35, so yeah it covers full frame, but it is only one

Or the D500/D7500? (or surely the next update of the D5x00 series will get 4K?) Do you find it still tends to be sharper than a Canon Rebel though?

Lucky I don't live in Italy! ha (not that it even comes within even a million miles of being defamation anyway)

Thanks for the warning Anaconda_! (pity, as I kinda enjoyed Nightcrawler) Won't waste my time with this.

No waveforms. No SDI. Kinda lacking in the "pro features department" :-/ Very rough rule of thumb to consider: AC => use 7 inch (or bigger) Op => use 5 inch (or smaller) Edit: Hmmm... been looking into this out of curiosity, and the 5.7" HDMI monitor which is the Feelworld F570 is very tempting. Yes, it is very bare bones, and lacks features I wish it had, but at only US$190 with free shipping, it looks like quite the steal!

Wouldn't a XC10 with an EF mount (& thus S35 sensor) be simply a C100mk3?
-
GH5S = "S" for stills! ;-) That three way split is probably the only way we'll see NDs put into a GH series body?! :-/
-
If you're incapable of doing some very basic math on the fly, then you have bigger problems in your life than using MFT vs S35 Why is Luke handing the camera with his hands? ;-) Is this a hint it is going to be a light field camera? :-P

Netflix Original Series: "Shot in the Dark": https://www.netflix.com/au/title/80171561 Quote: "you never hope for someone to die but it makes for a better story"...

Oscar SoundTech Lavs is the usual low budget recommendation. It is a non-issue. And as you can see the reviewer in the end goes with Sony, as they're the way of the Future. (G3 really needs to be updated to a G4 I reckon)

By the time it has filled pre orders, and you can buy a "GH5S" off the shelf, then the GH5 original will pretty much have been around for an entire year. Which is on the short end of a product life cycle, but by no means totally unreasonable or unprecedented. It is not just Fuji who will release a $2K APS-C mirrorless camera, but sometime in the next year (or so) then we can expect Nikon will release an APS-C mirrorless camera in around that price point. Now it might be a flop like their N1 mirrorless system, but also it might be massively massively popular because well it is Nikon. Then you also have Canon, who might surprise us in waking from their slumber with a better EOS-M series camera. So Panasonic faces a few threats, most probably will not pan out and will disappoint, but only one of them needs to be a hit (such as a mirrorless D5x00 with the insides of a NX1) and then Panasonic could be in trouble. I have been thinking this myself for a long time, and I'm kinda hoping it is the Dec15 date which is wrong rather than the coming GH5S news which is wrong. Please drink too much

I'd rather have one Fujinon zoom than 4x Veydra Also Sigma's 18-35 & 50-100 don't cover full frame.
-
Do a google search ;-) You'll find some ways....

The AF100 was fairly "expensive", yet nothing at that price level has come out since. So there is plenty of possible price increases still possible for the MFT ecosystem! (plus the DJI MFT raw camera is much more expensive than the GH5)
-
Absolutely. (just look at the AF100, or any of the E mount series camcorders with NDs)
-
Just been watching the doco "Some Nudity Required", Jim Wynorski is featured in that too. Wow. As stupid as it would be for me to get another, it tempts me to get both! Have 3x F3! :-P
-
For that price just get a Sony PMW-F3 or FS700 instead!
