  1. Would be a 10 track recorder priced somewhere between the MixPre-6 and 633, I assume. Further competition to the Zoom F8! (as while the MixPre-6 is great, there are still many reasons why people might prefer an F8 instead) http://ironfilm.co.nz/leaked-is-a-new-sound-devices-mixpre-10t-coming-soon/
  2. Wait... didn't I just do that? Or do you mean you DO want a comment with that video? Ok, here it is (as the post can't be edited now): "What a BUMMER that Panasonic won't let more footage from the EVA1 to be shown! Instead we were just left to listen to them describe it :-/ :-( " Same! Always amusing to watch.
  3. We already have a form of this in my country. 16 year olds are not allowed to vote. Lots of other certain classes of people are also not allowed to vote, such as prisoners, or people in a mental ward. Does that mean I don't live in a democracy here in NZ? No, of course not! Would be silly to try and claim this isn't a country with democracy. (although yes, arguments could be made around it being more or less democractic when it comes to including or excluding a 16yo or a prisoner)
  4. It carries on existing as the stills camera which Sony targets to videographers. If you shoot video, you want it. What planet are you living on? Most camcorders/compacts do *not* have an electronic variable ND. With the FS5 and FS7 mk2 being a couple of notable exceptions. I agree with you about the a7 and a7R series. Not going to happen! But there is a very slim chance an a7S successor might! However, it is probably a similarly slim low odds as it getting 10bits :-/
  5. Actually the FS700 doesn't output 10bit, it outputs raw that the recorder can then downconvert to 10bit ProRes files.
  6. I wouldn't. Sounds like you're a good influence! :-)
  7. The effort to produce a good 2hr long episode means you might as well make a feature film instead!!
  8. "One lens for life" is even more silly than the one camera for life thread!! No way. I'd be tempted to just pick a f/2.8 mid range zoom. But nah, going to go edgy and say the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 in Nikon F mount. Got to pick a DSLR lens, and not say a fancy high end PL lens, as I will want it not just for filming but stills too. As it is my ONLY lens, for life. And the f1.8 is a nice boost over f2.8, though giving up reach :-/ Oh well.
  9. Majority of what? The majority of humans (not even the majority of humans in the USA) certainly didn't vote for Hillary *or* Trump!! No, what is meant is the majority of the electoral college. That was the "rules of the game" which I referred to earlier. And following the rule of law, that is what the president won. Oh, and I just described this as well: So on both counts, yes, democracy.
  10. But who really needs a mechanical shutter in the a7S anyway?? The a7 and a7R series can keep their mechanical shutters! But let the a7S series go purely electronic shutter only, so that they can gain a big leap forward over the competition Panasonic (Canon/Nikon are not even competition now) by implementing the variable ND feature from the FS5 into the a7S mk3!! :-o Yes, I'd rather have that ND built in than take the 10bit from the GH5 (but, each to their own). It is the only way I can see the a7S mk3 realistically leap frogging in front of the GH5 (as I doubt the a7S mk3 will get 10bit).
  11. There are many many many forms of democracy. There isn't only *one* type, which is your definition. USA has a form of representative democracy.
  12. The a7S mk3 will be announced the moment you receive delivery of your newly purchased a7S mk2
  13. You just described the Sony FS700 Available for around US$2.5K secondhand.
  14. Exactly. This question is so vague and broad that it makes it tough to realistically answer, not without some more context/limitations to it, to narrow down the options. However.... I think there could be a reasonable chance that the Panasonic EVA1 might still be my "one camera for life if forced to choose at gunpoint". But it won't still hold that position in five years time, not a chance. Because just look at the time which was pre-EVA1 announcement. Well gee, if you look around at all the options, I think I might be forced to pick going with the Sony FS7 with an XDCA back? And this would have held true for a few years as my #1 choice, ever since the FS7 was released. (when the Panasonic Varicam LT came out, it would have tempted me to switch my choice away from the FS7. But if I'm stuck with only one camera then I think I'd prefer having the option of the smaller FS7 bare body) As ideally I'd have wanted a FS5/C100 camera with FS7 specs, but no such thing existed. But now it does..... the EVA1? Anyway, not saying the EVA1 will be my "one camera for life if forced to choose at gunpoint" next year as well. Or even that it is likely, just that it is very possible. You really would pick the GH2 over the GH5, as your only camera for the rest of your life? Are you feeling ok, is everything alright, are you not going to live much longer?
  15. Wellllllll........... isn't even the concept of "one camera for life" rather hypothetical itself?! I can understand where someone one would come in being forced to pick "one camera for life" that they might risk it all on one camera like the Panasonic EVA1. As frankly there is no camera I'd like to be stuck with permanently for life! Either any that are currently out, or announced but not yet released. Panasonic EVA1 (even if the image quality is "only as good" as a GH5) is perhaps the closest camera to a "one camera for life" if I was forced to pick one with a gun held to my head!! Because it is a bit smaller than a FS7, and much smaller than a F5/F55, which is an important quality if it is my ONLY camera. As I'd need to be able to use it on little mini micro shoots, where it is just me by myself. It has low end options, mid range, and high end options. That is important, if it is my ONLY camera. Unlike the C200, which has top end recording and low end, but nothing in between! It has time code. Which the C200, FS5, and FS7 lacks (welll.... FS7 has it, but only if you add the XDCA back, which makes it much bulkier). Anyway, those are just a few points quickly, explaining why I think it is kinda reasonable if a person mentioned the Panasonic EVA1. Although I think that the "one camera for life" does not yet exist. So I just mentioned a personal example of my Sony PMW-F3 & BMPCC that I can probably see myself using them for quite a while longer still (but not forever!! An upgrade will eventually happen).
  16. Why, because you think the election was a fraud? Ah I see. Well, everyone had to play to the rules of the game. And then do their best to succeed. If the election was under a difference rule set & instead about winning the popular vote, then I'm a 100% certain that Hillary and Trump (and the rest of the candidates as well, and their parties) would have campaigned very *very* VERY differently! And then who could predict what the result would have been instead?? Not me.
  17. Yup, agreed. And if a person is going to make a 44:23 long short film, then they'd better just go the whole hog and make a feature film!!
  18. Actually, the firmware update for the F3 wasn't US$900 but US$3,800 for s-log!! Crazy huh? It dropped down to US$900 for the update when the F3 needed to be more competitive in price against the new C300. Yeah, if you look back how far we've gone in 20yrs, or even just 10yrs, it makes it tough to predict what it will be like in another 20yrs! Let alone for the rest of time lifetime (which hope will be much longer than 20yrs!). Even though I expect the pace of technology to slow down for videography, just like it has slowed down for stills guys. (and so we see even the top notch guys skipping an upgrade cycle or two) But even in the stills world, you can see a big change across 10yrs, and a massive change across 20yrs. Well sh*t, my thousands and thousands of dollars in my lens investments is going to turn into pennies on the dollar?? Welll... it isn't going to happen within the next 5yrs! :-) Or I hazard even ten years. But in 25yrs, we might not see today's lenses the same way we see 25yr old lenses today. (I'd love to shoot on 25yr old Nikkors! And a nice collection can be quite valuable, but might a collection today's Sigma ART lenses be worth much much *much* less in 25yrs than we'd guess it would now?)
  19. I think my Sony PMW-F3 / BMPCC combo will likely last me until at least into 2019. Hopefully longer! (and I've already had them for a couple of years) However that is very far short of "for life". As eventually I will not be able to hold out forever, and I'll get a 4K cinema camera.
  20. I think FS700 and FS7 are different sensors??? And the FS7 is using the F5 sensor But yes, FS700 and FS5 share the same sensor.
  21. The tripod and RED 18-85mm PL lens are a couple of things that came with the R1 MX sale which really makes it a good deal! Probably right about the C300 image vs C100 image, however do remember the "pros" on reduser are also a hell of a lot of amateurs too....
  22. Sony and Sennheiser does have really high end wireless equipment, but by that point you're paying more or less the same price as if getting Lectrosonics/Zaxcom/Wisycom wireless. Yet will you be able to perform better, or get more work, or better paying work with the highest end Sennheiser/Sony wireless? I doubt it, as they won't have the brand recognition for being high end wireless that Lectrosonics has. As for P03D not being true diversity it.... it is! :-) Maybe you heard that it only uses one antenna when you switch off one of the outputs? (to save battery power, as it turns off half the circuity in the receiver) And yes, that is true. But when both are running, then it has true diversity. (thus I'd probably never switch off the second half of the circuitry, if I only wanted to receive one, then I'd just use a standard single transmitter instead!) Yes, Wisycom would be a solid choice to go with! Don't seem to be one of the most popular choices however, especially outside Europe. If I was in Europe, I'd also seriously be considering the new Audio Ltd A10: http://jwsoundgroup.net/index.php?/topic/29641-new-audio-ltd-ddx1010/ http://audioltd.com/a10-introduction/ http://www.soundkit.co.uk/product/9004362/audio-ltd-a10-dual-receiver-slot-version http://www.proavl-asia.com/product-news/?RID=dXT6Gld4a0 They look seriously seriously impressive. The transmitter can be controlled remotely via bluetooth and an iPhone or Android. http://audioltd.com/a10/a10-remote/
  23. if you know one of the talent in particular is certain to abuse the fvck out of your lavs, and production won't cover costs for your gear, then just give them a shitty chinese ebay lav on their transmitter instead! They seem to be the best option on the market if you're looking for something significantly better than your stock lav mics, but cheaper than say a Tram TR50 So basically you're suggesting instead of one stock lav: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/608098-REG/Sony_ECM_V1BMP_ECM_V1BMP_Electret_Condenser_Lavalier.html To instead get a different, but better stock lav: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/161264-REG/Sony_ECM_77BMP_ECM_77BMP_Lavalier_Mic_with.html Hmmmm... is it worth it though, vs just getting a Tram or Countryman? I'd rather go with one of those last two options. Or save a bundle and get OST lavs! (which are meant to be 95% of the quality at less than half the price) http://www.oscarsoundtech.com/services.html
