The Tascam DR10C series is only sold in some markets (such as the UK) with the headphone output option, as Zaxcom and their army of lawyers stopped Tascam from selling it in the USA. Thus Tascam had to go back to the drawing board and release a newly designed product: the Tascam DR10L! (basically the same thing, but without a headphone output. Maybe the "L" stands for "Less"? ha!) However... this feature missing is not such a big deal as you might think, as very obviously you can't monitor the audio via that headphone jack while the talent is wearing it!! ha ***EXCEPT***..... if you're passing it through to a TX so then you can monitor it wireless, on your recorder. Thus the Tascam DR10C is acting as a back up recording (which is what Zaxcom hated, and they claim to have a patent on), in case of wireless interference. Errr.... I don't even remember making my first post in this thread!! :-o whoops But nah, everything was all good the morning after.

If you can't monitor the audio, and have someone dedicated to that, then I recommend you keep the lavieres visible and on the outside. Will make the risk of clothing noise (as there is quite a fine art to the placement of hidden microphones) much much lower. Rode: My first ever wireless was a RodeLink, as it had just came out, and was by far the cheapest option on the market (which would give you acceptable results). Which I really regret.... as the TX packs are hell bulky! RodeLinks are still a solid buy if you're shooting in a niche which doesn't care about hiding the TX away from the camera. Saramonic: I used to be quite keen on these.... as it got a few good reviews, and is EXTREMELY cheap. However my own personal experience with it has been disappointing, as it broke quickly. Sennheiser: G3 is the default answer to the question of "what no/low budget wireless should I get?" I feel however this a flawed answer, which only gets repeated over and over, because it has been repeated over and over before in the past..... and so the cycle continues!! Sony: The Sony UWP-D11 is the best very low priced option you can buy brand new. It is almost identically priced to the Sennheiser G3, but in basically every way it is a little better and more refined. Although in the end, the performance gap between the G3 and UWP-D11 isn't that great, and they're both broadly speaking in the same category. (to step out of that group you'd need to leap up to spending on Lectrosonics/Zaxcom/etc). A bonus feature of using a Sony UWP-D11 is you can use it with a multi shoe interface adapter to have it feed into the camera directly without cables with some Sony cameras. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1079814-REG/sony_smad_p3_multi_interface_shoe_adapter.html

Ohhhh.... I got tagged! :-) But it is nearly 6am on a Saturday... I've been drinking all night, I'll reply properly when I next log in! :-) As I might be kinda every so slightly in trouble with the GF due to the girls I brought home... I used to be such a big fan of Saramonic for its utterly crazy insanely good value for money! But then I had my Saramonic fail on me.... so I dunno. Sony UWP-D11 secondhand on eBay are so utterly dirt cheap, why settle for anything less?? Plus the DR10L is a pretty damn sweet kit if you're going to use lavs but won't bother to monitor those either..... :-/

C200 can't do XAVCS, as it is a Canon camera! C200 is a very weird beast at the moment, that can do raw *or* a very low end codec. With absolutely no middle ground in between!

Needs to be a WOODEN stake however!

If you wait for the a7S mk3 then the Panasonic G90 or even GH6 will not be far away.... so of course you should wait for Panasonic's better implementation! But by then the a7S mk4 won't be far away..... Where does this endless circle of madness end??? :-o I reckon you should just buy a Panasonic G80 (which is a very fine camera!! Better than just a GH4), then shoot the hell out of it for a couple of years, then come back here and you'll have a much better idea of what you want to get next :-)

Yeah, but I'm a business person first, artist second. I need to pay rent, eat, have a family one day, and build up savings for the future. Which isn't easy when filmmaking can be a very expensive business with fluctuating work!
-
Wonder how many more decades they'll be in Beta for...
-
Neither. Get yourself a Panasonic G80
-
V mount or BP-U60 is another common option
-
Just buy a Sony FS700 @ $2K for slow motion instead :-P
-
Just get yourself a RX100 II dirt cheap, and keep the other money saved up for when the RX100 XVII comes out next year after next.

Wait for the D750 mk2! Or buy now a D500 / D7500 Fully ?% agree that Nikon should have released the DL18-50!! Would have been a massively kick as camera for real estate or drones.
-
Cheapest? Good? Yeahhhhh..... you have a bit of a contradiction there!! Oh wait, it gets worse.... :-o It is going to be an on camera mic?!?! Sorry, that is only ever going to make this even worse :-/ That should only ever just be for reference on a scratch track. As mic placement matters even more than what microphone you use! & putting it on top of the camera is a damn bad place to put it. But if you are looking for a very affordable microphone that is incredible bang for your buck then I recommend the Aputure Deity.

Sucks so bad the Panasonic EVA1 lacks a Locking Micro Four Thirds Mount (like a baby made from the union of the JVC LS300 & Sony FS7 mk2 mounts). Panasonic has blown a massive opportunity to provide an upgrade path for their GH users as they progress through their career, & was an opportunity to grow Panasonic GH5 sales at the same time. However credit can be given to Panasonic for blasting out of the water the C200 which Canon just announced, but that fact should surprise exactly no one.

Nope, 4.6K sensor never came to the "big" URSA (much to the annoyance of their owners!!). And the BMD 4K sensor is a big step back from any of their other sensors (heck, I'd rather use a Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera than a BMPC4K!).
-
There are tonnes of little details that the C300 mk2 has which always will make it more worthwhile than the C200 for some small subsection of shooters, Features such as Time Code for instance.

Is your BMCC a MFT mount or EF mount? As if MFT you can add a focal reducer, if it is EF then you are out of luck! I'd suggest you look closely at: The new Panasonic Varicam when it gets announced in a few days time. Canon C200 BMD URSA Mini 4.6K Pro Secondhand FS700 + Atomos Recorder of Convergent Design Sony PMW-F3 (very nice, dirt cheap, but not 4K) RED ONE JVC LS300

True, I could see a fair few Raven pre orders disappearing. Even though a Raven would probably have a total cost of ownership of close to double a C200!

Modified Lenses / Accessories that produce unique flares & bokeh

This is rather unique bokeh: http://www.43rumors.com/how-to-get-the-square-bokeh-with-a-weird-cheap-lens/ -
Canon C200 and Panasonic rival camera to fight it out at CineGear Expo
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Don't get mount and sensor size mixed up. My dream is it is a locking MFT mount!
