  1. Yup, agreed. Go either Panasonic G7 or G80 depending on exactly how tight your budget is. Plus a RJ Lens Turbo or similar, plus a few older Nikon F mount lenses.
  2. I'd love for Samyang to make something like an 17-90mm T4 lens!! But that will keep on being just a dream....
  3. Think I'll go with this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/PRO-3-4m-Combo-Stand-Tripod-load-40kg-for-Spotlight-5K-HMI-4K-M40/32796936968.html They have lots of other interesting stuff too: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Lighting-Effect-Modification/1293354_506740207.html?spm=2114.12010608.0.0.ksA7rn https://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Light-stand-Clamp/1293354_503701757.html?spm=2114.12010608.0.0.ksA7rn
  4. I agree with Turboguard, and you already have a great camera for now with the BMPCC. Sounds like your biggest issue right now is focus, and with the poor screen on the back of the BMPCC that is not too surprising (although I've often done little shoots with just the stripped down BMPCC and nothing else!). So I recommend that first of all, before buying any new camera, get yourself a nice external monitor, such as this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1251089-REG/aputure_vs_5_on_camera_monitor.html Or this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1224295-REG/smallhd_mon_701_lite_701_lite_7_hdmi.html Or this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1153980-REG/smallhd_mon_501_501_hdmi_full_hd.html
  5. Ordering from B&H isn't really an option for these extremely heavy items when you live overseas :-/
  6. In Canada all Sound Grips get a flat $10/day.
  7. As I already do sound seriously, I'd like to get into the lucrative career of sound gripping, thus looking at grip gear to get... specifically these combo stands on Aliexpress (sorry, I can't afford anything better on my $10/day rate!). Anybody tried them before, what do they think of them? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4m-studio-Combo-Stand-Tripod-Load-20kg-for-Light-2k-5k-HMI-Compact-Par-1-2k/32265490574.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/PRO-3-4m-Combo-Stand-Tripod-load-40kg-for-Spotlight-5K-HMI-4K-M40/32796936968.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4m-Studio-Combo-Stand-Tripod-Load-20kg-for-Light-2k-5k-HMI-Compact-Par-1-2k/32596647221.html
  8. Any users of the Lilliput Q5 here?
  9. Dual image stabilization. Go get the Panasonic lens.
  10. oh yes, I reckon Panasonic still offers the best bang for buck. But even they're increasing their prices!
  11. Nope. And you kinda show you don't know what you're talking about when you refer to a non existent camera.... the "a6100"!
  12. Considering that the a5100 has Sony's very successful 24 megapixel sensor plus XAVCS, I'd say the Canon is almost certainly a step down in video quality from an a5100 (I owned one). I wouldn't move backwards and hitch your cart the dying Canon. Either stick with Sony, or buy Panasonic.
  13. Panasonic GH5 plus secondhand G7 (dirt dirt cheap! & always handy to have in the edit a second locked off shot, if you stick the G7 on a tripod and let it run)
  14. A smart move by Pentax (until they gave in and brought out a FF... Hmm) and FujiFilm to just have APS-C and Medium Format. As the future is 1" compacts for those who want ultra portability. APS-C for those who want lens choice flexibility but are budget (or size) constrained. And Medium Format for those who the sky is the limit. So called "Full Frame" will hopefully die away as it gets squeezed in by APS-C/MFT on one side and Medium Format on the other side. Unless Sony is successful in entrenching their FE camera/lens range in time before Medium Format arrives as a truly affordable option (relative to an a7R or a9 series etc).
  15. Very tempted by the Sony FS700 myself! Those are impressively low prices it is dropping down to. I think for the low budget feature (features?) I'm shooting this year I'll advocate getting the FS700 for A cam, my F3 for B cam, & a6500 for small action / gimbal shots.
  16. Not surprised if they release a pro video camera after releasing their premium cinema lenses with their Fuji X mount as an option.
  17. A right of Yi 4K action cameras is a good combo for high quality but low cost 360VR option
  18. So many 7 inch options, so few good 5 inch options :-/
  19. I've noticed the C500 PL is selling even cheaper than than EF mount, if you're lucky enough to own PL lenses to use with the bargain C500.
  20. Exactly! I use entirely Nikon F mount lenses on my F3. Except the lenses don't even need an aperture ring. As even very cheap adapters can control the aperture. One of the beautiful things about using the Nikon F mount system :-) That way I can use modern DX lenses such as the wonderful Sigma 18-35 f1.8!! :-D And not be stuck with using older lenses such as FD mount that never made wider focal lengths. Exactly. Or Tokina lenses for Nikon, & so on etc with other third parties for Nikon. That first link is surprisingly affordable. Still is multiple times the price of the Nikon F adapter however!
  21. I've noticed that, is pretty crazy cheap for sure!! Kinda wonder if right now is the optimal time to buy an Arri Alexa Classic. From a financial perspective. As they've had their big price drop, but should still relevant and in demand as rental / owner op items for a little while longer yet???
