  1. 444 is twelve bit Sigma 18-50 f2.8 is cheap and lightweight
  2. . This would be a great idea, or even an EX1 plus dirt cheap a5100 secondhand! Means you might find your events more interesting to edit too. And might move up to a higher class of events that you film. Kinefinity Terra 5K, whenever it ships....
  3. Riadnasla, neither the SxS or FZ should be an issue!! As a Nikon F to FZ adapter is cheap, & Nikon F lenses are cheap and plentiful. Ditto SxS adapters to use SD cards inside them :-)
  4. Yes, it would be a reference to the FS5's internal 1080. That is how I read it.
  5. hahahaha, nah that would never happen! :-D
  6. You would get the 3x F5 "sometime" (2019) in the future for the 4K.... but not a FS7 in the mix? & might it. But also might it not be even more logical to get instead 3x C500 for the 4K multicam as you are already a third of the way there?!
  7. Strip the F3 way way down. Just use it with internal batteries and the recorder as your monitor. Then it can become pretty lightweight and a pleasure to use when you are going solo as just yourself as the crew. I too went the same pattern of at first having it heavily built up and intimidating, but ditched that eventually as too much effort without a proper crew. Instead of selling your F3, why not have two cameras?! (great for interviews too!) Get yourself an a6500 or a secondhand a7S mk1 on the cheap, for your glidecam to match with the F3
  8. Put the camera, & everything else (external battery, audio pre amp, etc), as far back on your shoulder as you can.
  9. oh wow, that is quite a few F3 cameras you have collected now! Do have three 7Q+ as well?
  10. People on reduser band together all the time for group discounts. (Not for something like a GH5 though... that couldn't happen) Can't see why not EOSHD could do this as well in a similar manner? Just don't let anyone from Cairo organise it....
  11. Welllllllll then.... let's just mention some cameras from 2025 then!! GH10 any one? ;-)
  12. KineMINI 4K "battle tested" (read: refurbished) were going for $3K last year? I'd undoubtedly go for that in your situation if you can't afford a Kinefinity Terra, & don't care about other stuff such as size. Otherwise you could get a secondhand Sony FS700 (as you're not counting the cost of extra stuff.... such as an external recorder to tap into the FS700 raw). Other options I'd consider is Sony PMW-F3, BMD Micro Cinema Camera, and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe the URSA Mini 4K. Plus of course the GH5, but wait for it to be selling first for a month or two. What do you mean "lacking in resolution"? Or is 1080 not enough is what you mean? That is kinda my plan. Get the FS5 once they show up cheap secondhand. I kinda want the 10bit 4K internal of the FS7 however..... but the variable ND and small compact size of the FS5 is tempting. Or a Kinefinity Terra if they show up "battle tested" in the future. Would you mind please linking to your reduser post on the F35? :-)
  13. +1 vote D5500 -1 vote T2i Heh, I need to shoot more again with my D5200.
  14. Almost certainly will not be good enough.
  15. Kisaha, audio preferences can be very subjective. And circumstances vary from shoot to shoot also which one is "better". So I don't say it is so clear cut which of the Audio Technica or Audix is "better". I agree Curtis Judd is not an expert specialist soundie (but there are very few of those on YouTube! Matt Price is the only independent one on YT who regularly updates), he is just a videographer generalist, but he is the best regular one of those on YouTube for audio info.
  16. Audio-Technica AT4053b is a solid choice too. Is the one that Curtis Judd chose.
  17. TURN OFF the air conditioning! ME64 is more a videographer's microphone, while an Audix / AT / Oktova (which are all popular options) are entry level indie ones.
  18. True, to justify sub forums you need to not only be big enough right now to justify the expansion, but big enough that even after taking a hit in visitor numbers that it would still make sense for extra sub forums.
  19. Nicely put summary of an explanation! Of both the "why", and the history. How do you get started on that ladder towards being a DIT earning $1K+/day? Say you're working mostly in some other role, how would you transition across? That is nothing! I've seen it go on eBay for thousands and thousands cheaper! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arri-ALEXA-EV-PLUS-CAMERA-/152090525191 I bet the day Arri starts shipping lots of a new Alexa 4K camera with a new chip in it, then these older ones will drop fast even further in price! Only biggest downside to them is you HAVE TO shoot with PL lenses :-/ I think you've got zero other options!! :-( :-/ Aside from the new Arri Alexa Mini (which is still very expensive), and that one can swap out to have other mounts than PL.
  20. Also chose ProRes, not raw: http://bosfcpug.org/zak-bagans-produces-new-film-sympathy-said-the-shark-shot-on-blackmagic-pocket-cinema-cameras/ ProRes and raw are surprisingly close, worthwhile considering ProRes instead for the practical benefits: Other interesting points from that article: Better than RED! :-D And surprisingly close to an Arri Alexa. https://chazcreative.wordpress.com/2014/07/27/is-the-black-magic-cinema-camera-an-alexa-killer/
  21. No HDMI inputs on them Maybe once USB-C becomes mainstream we might see some options using that as an input?!
  22. Sub forums is ok, but I think the traffic here at EOSHD would need to triple to justify thinking about expanding out.
  23. That bulk is why I have gone from one extreme (bulked up F3 even more than in my profile pic here!) to the other extreme... and using my F3 in the most stripped down and minimal manner that I can!
  24. Andy Less (one of the mods here), shot a feature film with a handful of Panasonic G7 cameras: Though if I was shooting a feature, I'd spend the little bit extra for a G80 (and try to twist the producer's arm to get a GH5 as well....).
