  1. They also had a leap forward in resolution, which could be also what you are noticing.
  2. Paid upgrade for the Sony X70 too to get 4K. Same with the PMW-F5, same principle... at two drastically different ends of the market!
  3. It should, both PAL and NTSC cameras have 24p
  4. Is awful when google results get messed up with bad misinformation :-/ Like many of us, I rely so much upon google every day!
  5. Odyessy 7Q+ is very pricey! Could the Atomos Shogun doing FSraw to ProRes HQ 4K be close enough to nearly as good?
  6. WOW! :-o I see you used other cameras than just the 1D C on this, what else were those?
  7. C300 mk2 also lacks the processing power the FS5 has and suffers from similar weird output restrictions. Had to deal with a C300 mk2's bizarreness on a shoot last week.
  8. Surprised this is not mentioned more often, this is big news I reckon! Does the new firmware updates for the G7/GX80/etc disable this by any chance??? I hope not!!

I think even at $800 an AF100 is overpriced. I've seen it go for less. Hold out for a $500 special to make it worthwhile. Otherwise might as well get FS100 / F3 / FS700 for not really that much more
  10. Is a medium format focal reducer coming? :-D
  11. lol! Hey mercer, is your password "mercer"?
  12. Is amusing how we don't trust photos these days, as they can so easily be photoshopped, but would believe video. One day soon in the near-ish future the day will arrive where we won't even believe videos! As it will be too easy for the common man to fake them too.
  13. Do you need 4K? Do you need slow motion (beyond 1080 60fps that is)? No? If so, then get a Sony PMW-F3. Goes for next to nothing secondhand. I own one, will be shooting a feature film this year with it (hopefully with two at once if we can squeeze buying a 2nd F3 into the budget). Get these lenses (all in Nikon F mount of course): Tokina 11-20mm f2.8 Tokina 28-70mm f2.8 Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 Nikon 50mm f1.8D (could swap out for the Sigma 18-35mm f.18 & Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 pair, but would cost quite a lot more, but either choice is reasonable) You might think you've got plenty left in your $8K budget... but with tripod/recorder/media/accessories/audio/lighting/etc... that will very quickly disappear! If you do "need" 4K or slow motion, then get a secondhand Sony FS700 instead. Third camera I'll mention to consider, is the BMD Micro Cinema Camera, is a wonderful little beast (like a BMPCC v2.0!).
  14. How can a person be a son, nephew, and a grandson all at once?!?!
  15. Which will likely never happen. Thus the thread should remain. And as many people have pointed out, it is best to keep the thread up to help prevent future such scams from occurring.
  16. FS700 has 4K and 240fps, which are massive leaps beyond what 5Dmk3 or BMD Cinema Cameras (Micro, Pocket, or Original) can do. And with a recorder I'd say its image quality is indeed totally in the same ballpark (of course which is better than the other is debatable and subjective... so no point going down that path, but we can all agree they're within the same ballpark as each other). Having built in ND filters, easy access buttons on the body, SDI out, dual record, etc are all genuine benefits that help you during a production that 5Dmk3/GH4/BMMCC all lack. And as for the F3, well it is just so dirt cheap, why not? (as cheap ish as a new BMMCC! Less than a 5Dmk3!) Yes you can always hire in another camera, but when an F3 is the same price as one or two rentals, or the FS700 is only the price of a few rentals too, why not just purchase and pocket the rental fees yourself?
  17. Clients when paying the big bucks sometimes want to see a "big impressive camera" on set (not one their nephew has), so you might consider getting a Sony PMW-F3 (or even an FS700) as they've been going dirt dirt cheap secondhand.
  18. Aputure FineHD VS-2 is even cheaper, and is a greater than FHD monitor. But a BMD VA is a solid choice too. if you can spend more than a SmallHD 502 would be ideal. You'll want way way more than just one lens??? What do you already have? Consider getting a cage as well: http://woodencamera.com/Micro-Cage-BMMCC-BMMSC.html Consider the Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC instead, as the versatility in going from 15 to 30mm will be worth it, plus it is just as fast at f2.8
  19. The potato is starting to give off a funny smell, and it has this white fuzz covering it all over. Am thinking that just maybe I should consider starting to think about at some point upgrading my potato? What to though? Maybe get a rock? Would be more durable and should be better future proofed as the rock is much more durable.
  20. No. I only use a potato for my filming. If you don't want it, would you mind selling it? I could pay asap, I'm at my local Western Union branch right now.
  21. Very close! But no. It was this one (that it linked to near the end of the article): http://therumpus.net/2016/05/the-great-film-festival-swindle/
  22. Do new Convergent Design 7Q+ recorders come with the FSraw license already or do you still have to pay separately for that?
  23. Still so so soooo many unanswered questions!! Did ES Senior ever really direct any films? How many others have been scammed and not reported it yet?
  24. I'm willing to be very generous and say either ES accidentally put a zero at the start or Jim accidentally forgot a zero at the start of his. Hope you took a MJ break.
