Full frame snobs and other photographers will still prefer the A7 mk2 over the A6300. You think the D750 will do better?
-
Touch screen on the A5100 with face tracking is mean as! Why not?? I'd rather spend more on lenses than the body, as that is what will last longer.

At loooooong last the very long awaited Sony A6300 has been announced (along with 3 sweet sweet lenses, that Sony E mount desperately needs). These specs in particular are juicy: new 24MP BSI sensor (yay, BSI!) 11fps 4D focus 4K 30fps video (no pixel binning 14 stops dynamic range, 100MPS) S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log-3 and S-Gamut3/S-Log3 profiles 1080p120 slow motion Under US$1k (I think this price is quite reasonable compared to what a GH4 or NX1 was when first released. Yes, I'd like it to be less! So I can wait, once a sale arrives or it shows up secondhand/refurbished that should shave off a few hundred dollars fo rme) Weather sealed body 422 over HDMI Switchable NTSC/PAL (phew!! Thank goodness for that) 14bit photos Mic jack input. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1222744-REG/sony_ilce6300_b_alpha_a63000_mirrorless_digital.html I no longer want a Sony A7s mk1 secondhand (which is a similar, or greater, price), I think I'll hold out on seeing this A6300 go on sale instead! :-D

nah don't call it "pulling a Nikon" They simply were not ready to implement it back when they announced it. But longer length recordings will be coming from Nikon in a future firmware update

People often go searching around for a "solution" to all their problems by buying another camera body. Often that isn't wise. Especially when they've already got a very solid camera body that is recent. And they're not doing this professionally. Stick with your NX1!!! Wait another generation or two before upgrading. Then get the NX3 or GH6 or whatever. Until then, if you must, get things which will last longer than a camera body for a few months. Such as a couple of redheads and an LED panel with V mount batteries. Or a Came-TV Mini 2. Or a small set of fast Rokinons in Nikon F mount. Any of these would last you longer, be more useful, won't depreciate as fast, and be cheaper than an A7s mk2!

Nikon 14-140mm VR?? Eh?
-
just got a five hundred drop in price too!
-
GH4 is still a solid camera. So I'd say there are two options: A) bump your budget to get a FS7 or URSA Mini4.6K (they're about roughly the same price) B) or just wait... FS5 might get its bugs ironed out. JVC LS300 just dropped in price, it might reach a "too good a price to resist" point. Or something else might get released.... a GH5/NX2/VaricamMini/FS1/NikonCinema/BMPCC4K/WhoKnowsWhat/etc!

Panasonic has a 12-35mm f/2.8 and 35-100mm f/2.8 already But you'll need to keep on swapping back and forth between the two, plus they're expensive to buy both. To make a lens with a great range you will need to increase size and cost substantially, or be a slower f-stop. I'd rather keep the cost low! Thus why I proposed a Panasonic 14-90mm f/4 be created, could be a great little run and gun lens for the AF200 to compete against the likes of a FS7/FS5 or C100/C300 with their 18-105mm f/4 (or 28-135mm f/4) and the 24-105mm f/4 Given the existence already of the Nikon 24-120 f/4 for Full Frame and the Sony 18-105mm /f4 for APS-C, I believe a 14-90mm f/4 should be very achievable for the 4/3" sized sensor.

Maybe a gimbal version that is less clunky and more self contained?? All Panasonic needs to do is release a DVX200 without the lens on it (a plain MFT mount instead) and 422 10bit 4K/UHD internal. Heaps and heaps of GH2/GH3/GH4 and AF100 owners would be very very excited over this! Surely Panasonic could do it at the same price too (a little over US$4k) as the current DVX200 because they won't need to make a lens for it. (but would be very nice if they developed a 14-90mm f/4 to go with it (like how Sony has a 18-105mm f/4 as the kit lens for the FS5, or Canon & Sigma has their 24-105mm f/4 lens, and Nikon has their 24-120mm f/4 lens) This would make it a very serious challenger then in the entry mid market!! (vs Sony FS5 or Canon C100 mk1/mk2 or anything from BMD) They wouldn't have to even do anything else than remove the lens and give 10bit 4K! However these extras would be nice... cream on top of an already delicious dish: a) allow up to 60fps for 4K and not just 60fps for UHD (seems strange that it can do 60fps UHD but only 24p for 4K!!) b) an extra SDI out or two, as only having one SDI out is cutting it a bit thin. c) full sensor for 4K/UHD (no crop, like FHD). d) the complete set of tools: focus peaking / histograms / zebras / waveforms / vectorscope e) can load custom LUTs (for internal recording or the VF or to apply over the HDMI/SDI out) If it does all of a/b/c/d/e then Panasonic could even be nipping at the heals of FS7 and C300 mk2. (wouldn't be able to beat them, but would be able to provide a large chunk of their functionality at a significantly lower cost)

I've had 2x FujiFilm XF1 cameras (two because one I took out drinking... the other got broken by a friend on set by accident), because I reckon at only US$150 each they do provide the best value point and shoot experience!! (and RX100 is just too pricey, though I want one!! Maybe in another year or two, when the RX100 mk1 drops even further in price) And now I'm onto my third FujiFilm!! A FujiFilm XQ1, which i got for the usual price I pay for an XF1. Gaining WiFi is nice :-D

When in doubt... get a cheaper body, especially when it is a 50% different.
-
They skip the APS-C RX and go straight to a FF RX unfortunately.
-
GoPro! ;-)
-
just like with Canon ;-)
-
Using a Ninja with the C100 will still be only 8bit files. The URSA 4K doesn't excite me too much, it is the 4.6K I drool over. Though I went for the heaps cheaper option (you can get it for US$1500 now) of a Sony PMW-F3. With an Atomos Samurai Blade I get 10bit 422 from it (can even do 12bit 444 with it if you use another recorder, such as the PIX-E5. And 60fps FHD slow motion, which the C100 mk1 can't do). This puts it waaaay ahead of either C100, and at a much lower price.

Nikon D5 versus Canon 1D C for cinematic 4K video - which wins?
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Great news! Have a link to that? -
Haha! True. Well BMD is the exception here though. But for the rest of them a basic box means it is a fancy camera which will need expensive rigging and a team of ACs to run it. Vs a camera like the FS5 / DX200 is more "grab and go" as it is. Hope this is more at FS5 / DVX200 pricing but I'm almost certain it is not. We've got a while to wait before they bring out a Varicam with a MFT mount!! If it will even ever happen.
-
From the image it looks like it will still be a beasty / boxy camera in the well over $10k price point. Sadly this won't be what us AF100 fans are seeking.
-
Yes I hope they keep on announcing cameras then shipping then six months later over the other option of not announcing them at all! Looking forward to whatever crazy new cameras they announce at NAB 2016 that I wouldn't have even thought of before!
