Saw today the refurbished D7000 go for a crazy low price of US$349, very very tempted to get one myself!! But I think I'll keep on rocking along with the D90 for stills. And resist the temptation to upgrade for at least another 6 months. Obviously not so great for video, but if you're a Nikon stills shooter that is one hell of a deal!

Radical thought: I hope BMD is saving all the reject 4.6K sensors (which I believe are just ever so slightly too large for the m4/3 mount??) to instead deliver a cut down 4K version of the 4.6K sensor in a new URSA Mini 4K (with 4.6K DR & ISO) MFT! :-D

looks like they will be having a much much wider "beta" testing than usual with their trickle out shipping I would agree hardware is in its final form. They just want to nail down firmware before opening up to the masses and the reviews of it hit the web. clearly they are riding a lot on this with high hopes a want to get it just right and perfect before it goes into wide release

I wouldn't bother with fixing an older entry level Nikon/Canon DSLR, as it would cost more to fix than it is really worth. So that factor is a non-issue.

A nifty device on eBay from orpheus_c, it uses the cage's handgrip as a large battery to power your Sony camera. Allowing for much longer run times than what you'd usually get from your FW-50 batteries alone. Better handling? LOL, joking surely. A single lens or two is not a reason to basis an entire camera body decision on! Especially when it is just a kit lens and a nifty fifty. When Nikon do massively has the lead in low light, dynamic range, and resolution, it would seem silly to get a 700D. Anyway.... I still don't clearly see the rationalization behind getting either of them, you've got a Sony camera before... can't you get one again? Even if it isn't an A6000, but an A5100 (or even a NEX-5N). Plus your logic for a second camera doesn't seem too strong... as you already have one. And if you do happen to have something go bad with it, you can always just replace it. Being without one for a week or two in the process is no great loss, as you're not using it professionally. (and even if you were... there would always be the option to rent) Neither does getting a 700D/D5200 as a "cheaper" camera for casual use instead of the A6000 make much sense either, as the A6000 is already very cheap and barely much more expensive than a 700D/D5200! If that was the logic, I'd suggest instead getting a Sony NEX-5N or Panasonic GH1 / GX1. Or pick up a cheap secondhand P&S such as Panasonic LX7 or Sony RX100 mk1.

Also interesting to note that the D500 started development at the same time the Panasonic GH4 was released (as GH4 was the first ever ILC with 4K), in early 2014.

D5200 vs 700D is not even a contest, go with D5200 every time. But I really think the answer here is *not* to buy another camera! You've already got a nice one with the A6000 Just use better what you already have. Or if you have a burning itch that you MUST SPEND MONEY (I understand... happens to all of us :-/ ), then spend it instead on something else than a new camera body, such as: lenses, focal reducer audio, lights etc

For 99% of us here, what the D5 can or can not do specifically does not matter to us. Because I won't be buying one any time soon, or even in the next 5yrs (maybe maybe by then it might have dropped in price low enough to buy one on a laugh. For instance I almost purchased a D2Hs for the hell of it recently). Instead what is so very significant about the D5 announcement is what it represents for video from Nikon, that they're bringing out 4K video the masses. Unlike Canon there is no restricting it only to their ultra high priced C line up, instead *EVERY* pro sports/journalist/etc photographer with a D5 will also be able to do 4K clips. Same can't be said for the 1D X users. Even more so, Nikon has added 4K video to their APS-C level camera. (could you see Canon doing that?? nah). Nikon hasn't been shy in putting better video into their lower end cameras than their models above it (remember the D5200 being a better choice than the D800? http://www.eoshd.com/2013/02/is-the-cheap-nikon-d5200-a-better-option-than-d800-for-video-no-moire-aliasing-and-good-detail/ ), so I wouldn't be surprised if the D7300/D5600 gets 4K as well. (maybe even the D3400?? Though maybe that is too low end... might need to wait for the D7x00/D5x00 to get it first). D620 could arrive this year with 4K as well. And for the poor Canon fan boys this is good news as well, as just maybe maybe this might prompt Canon to finally add 4K to their line up DSLRs! (other than their C range) Because no matter how many cameras Sony/Panasonic/Samsung add 4K to, well... Canon probably doesn't care too much (incorrectly so), as they don't recognise them as their direct competition. But Nikon is their direct competition, if anything will make Canon feel compelled to respond it is this, just like what happened when Nikon brought out the D90 and changed all our lives. Thus we should all be quite excited by the D5/D500 announcement! As it will cause a ripple that will create a bigger impact than many of us expect.

And that hopefully is why we have Samsung's deal with Nikon! ;-)

Yup, one of the more exciting things about this announcement is what it bodes for the future of other Nikon DSLRs!! :-S

Almost thought the day would never happen, but the "mythical" Nikon D400 has now been announced at long last! (but named "D500" now instead, to mirror the FX D5 announced at the same time) And once again Nikon is first, just like they were first with an HD DSLR, they're now first with a 4K DSLR (unless you want to count the utterly ridiculously priced Canon 1D C from Canon :-/ ).

Ebrahim Saadawi, rather than a "BMCC v2". Just release a BMD URSA Mini 2.5K MFT! Don't need to touch or change a thing, and if it sells for the same price as the URSA Mini 4K EF already does, then I'm sure the URSA Mini 4K 2.5K MFT will be a hit!! But yes, if they can make it be a little cheaper than US$3K (as after all the BMCC is cheaper than the BMPC4K, so I assume the sensor is cheaper), and give it 60fps like the BMMCC (and internal ND filters?? ha, now I really am dreaming!!), then that would be even better. In fact that is my top prediction for cameras to be announced at NAB 2016: URSA Mini 2.5K MFT!

Wrong, Sony does it with their RX10 mk2. Full sensor read out (20.2MP) that is down sampled to 4K

Only a hundred bucks for a Nikon F adapter and now my camera feels like a rock solid Nikon F native mount camera! I really like the concept of the underlying FZ mount

Came across an unboxing video: Way smaller than the Sony CineAltas (which I see as the main other competition in the low low budget PL lens category).

Pity the Sony F3 didn't get a mention in the value for money section For me it is the stand out model in that segment in (end of) 2016!
