you think Samsung will announce a high end camcorder tomorrow? I highly doubt it!! But I too hope so :-)
-
Not the first sanveer, lots of people fly BMPCCs too
-
I think sticking with the Samsung NX1 is wise, keep the budget for elsewhere instead.
-
Nifty, we've got free grading software and now we've got more affordable panels coming too.
-
I've been suggesting for a while now that an FS1 is just around the corner, nice to see I'm right! I blogged my thoughts on it last month: http://ironfilm.co.nz/sony-fs100-discontinued-sony-fs1-coming-soon/
-
Ohhhh..... looks like I could be right and there is a "Sony FS1" (as I've been calling it) coming along! I hope so. A good little B cam younger brother companion to the FS7. http://ironfilm.co.nz/sony-fs100-discontinued-sony-fs1-coming-soon/
-
I already purchased one before the F3 price drop ;-) For the low low low price of US$1.2K! The photo of mine is in the blog post there.
-
I agree the max capabilities of the FS700 is really nice. But I'm skeptical if it is really worth it for a person who is starting from scratch and doesn't own an FS700. As you're left with a total cost only a couple of grand less than the way more friendly Spmy FS7 to shoot with. I know which I'd personally rather have!
-
Another big price drop on the Sony FS700 down to US$4K (comes with a free metabones adapter too!): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1010153-REG/sony_nex_fs700r_4k_nxcam_super_35mm.html (was $6k when it dropped in September last year, and just last June it dropped to $5k) Hope that leads to a big drop on the second hand market! (Because I wouldn't mind buying one cheap next year....) Still believe the PMW-F3 was a better buy for me personally :-) http://ironfilm.co.nz/dream-camera/ Newshooter just blogged about it too: http://www.newsshooter.com/2015/09/02/fancy-a-s35-sensor-camera-with-a-great-image-xlr-audio-sdi-and-hdmi-outputs-444-colour-pl-mount-and-built-in-nd-filters-for-under-4k-read-on/

Wondering if that LUT from camerabag could be shared?
-
Think that means 3 stop increase? (If 200% increase means one stop etc)
-
It is a pity you got the Canon EF mount version, otherwise you could've got the vastly vastly cheaper RJ Lens Turbo instead like I do.
-
With V Log I suppose it probably will
-
Just don't! a) why reward a company which has had such a terrible attitude to their consumers for filmmaking? Canon more or less accidentally stumbled into this niche, then ignored the HDSLR enthusiasts b) invest in Nikon F Mount lenses instead which will leave you with greater flexibility of choices and cheaper adapters As for cameras, what kind of documentary films and what kind of short films? And which of the two are more important to you? (As they can have conflicting needs) Also, what is your background coming into this? For instance a BMPCC or Samsung NX1 are both absolutely FANTASTIC cameras, arguably each the best in class for their niche. Yet at the same time.... they're not really for everybody, especially if they're new to this. While a Panasonic GH4 / G7 or Sony RX10mk2 or Sony X70 / AX100 could be far better more general purpose choices.
-
You say "lens" singular, when it should be "lenses" plural. I really believe a person should be spending more on lenses than on the camera body. So that means sub $1k for the body. Thus a Panasonic G6/G7, Sony A5100/A6000 or maybe a Samsung NX1 at a stretch (BMPCC ends up much more expensive with rigging/batteries/cards).
-
Sad face :-( Also means if they bring out this new camera, it might be even longer until we see a real update and a GH5? BEST outcome is they do release free firmware for GH4 too eventually, and this "GH4R" is just a minor version marking being done for marketing reasons as by releasing a "new" one it will pick up extra press coverage for them
-
Canon pricing strikes once again!!
-
Looks to be spring operated for the extra axis, skeptical as to how that will function well.
-
Nah, just get a Sony A6000 instead. Or even better... Dont get a camera at all!! ;-) Wait for the Sony A6100/A7000/A7smk2 to come or to see a big drop in A7s used prices. Just say pass on an A7!
-
Just wait for the Pentax 645Z to drop in price and will be $4k soon enough.
-
Bargain with those lenses! Easily worth a grand each, thus you got the camera for less than two grand :-)
-
Total budget is only US$2k? Exactly how much is that meant to cover.... ?? If you're starting from scratch you should set your eyes far lower than any of those cameras which you mentioned in your subject line (except perhaps the A6000, some amazing bargains can be found with the A6000. Or even go with the A5100). Example how it can all add up once you start pricing it out properly: http://ironfilm.co.nz/a-priced-out-gear-kit-for-a-newbie-to-filmmaking-using-the-panasonic-gh2/

"Christmas" Or early next year.
-
Have you already used skateboards beforehand?
-
Thumb control for orientation of the camera? Like the came single Edit: ah only one axis of the camera at a time: http://cheesycam.com/came-tv-came-single-pilotfly-h1-nebula-4000-comparisons/
