Ah darn, the 1000fps option for the RX10mk2 is only at 1,136x384 resolution! :-o But 250fps is doable at nearly FHD. http://www.sony.net/Products/di/en-us/products/ht7k/specifications.html?contentsTop=1

Both the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 and the Rokinons are of course available in Nikon F mount, which naturally is what I recommend you get them in (and is what I own mine in: http://ironfilm.co.nz/rokinon-cine-lenses/ ).

I doubt an AF200 is coming.... :-/ Sadly, but I still keep on hoping there will be a DVX200 with an interchangeable lens mount coming.

Stumbled across this. Nice video here from an URSA: Given it is done in low light it is looking good. Additionally is great seeing a video with flashing lights not suffering from the strobing you get from a rolling shutter.

It is amazing how well the GH1 holds up in 2015! I started out on one years ago, got a second one this year. And plan on getting a few more for multi camera wedding shoots.

Arri price drop???? (Think he means AJA....)
-
M100, first say what your needs are.

What I dislike about the F35 most:1) spare parts / repairs / reliability. It still is going to cost you like a quarter million dollar camera will. Is like owning a Rolls Royce, even if you get an older model for cheap, it will still make you broke via upkeep. 2) the sheer size of it! Even though its price has got smaller, its size hasn't. You still ideally want the full size crew that a film with a budget for a $250,000 camera would command. Even an URSA Mini would be smaller and easier to work with a small crew (and personally, an URSA Mini seems like about the max size I'd go for). Personally what gets me more excited is my US$150 Panasonic GH1 bodies and looking forward to getting a Panasonic AF100 later this year for hopefully far south of US$1k.

What is some tips for search terms to use on eBay for finding 110 lenses, or how should I go about buying them on the cheap?

Their sensor choice is quite understandable. As I presume they wanted to make a Super 35mm camera. What super 35mm sensors are their available on the open market that they could have used? The choices are few indeed! Otherwise BMD and Apertus Axiom would be using them. AJA Cion's issue is BMD (and to a somewhat lesser extent, Sony FS7) have spoiled us! Imagine a world without BMD, we'd all be lusting hard after the AJA Cion! It appears AJA tried to aim for the upper end of the "affordable market" (if that phrase makes any sense, i.e. cheaper than Arri, and even cheaper than RED. But above DSLR/BMD). But perhaps found that to be a bit of an awkward no man's land, pros won't take a risk on them just to save a penny but they're too expensive for amateurs/semi-pros to take a punt on (especially when it has a PL mount!). Thus they're cutting their loses for now (but doubt they'll find much successor competing at the cheaper price point of BMD's turf!). Maybe they'll try again at that price point in the market with a V2, or maybe aim for a total different segment.

I agree, I doubt I'll be able to see this as a better buy than the much cheaper URSA Mini 4.6K but I wish Kinefinity well and hope they keep on making more! As I eagerly look forward to what their next iteration is.

Excellent AJA dropped their price. As it faced a hard sell otherwise. Even after the price drop I can't imagine a person going for a Cion over the much cheaper URSA-M 4K or the presumably much better URSA-M 4.6K for the same price. I did a quick estimate recently how much it would cost for me to get the URSA Mini: body: US$5k evf: US$1.5k storage media: US$2k+ shoulder kit and battery plate: US$0.5k the few EF lenses I'll list next, total: US$1k V mount batteries: US$0.5k+ Total cost: easily US$10.5k+ (not including shipping, or taxes!) So for lenses I'd get a very few native EF mount lenses, while the bulk of my shooting would be with my existing Nikon mount lenses (as I've got a Rokinon Cine DS set, plus heaps more). But there are times when native mount lenses come in handy (AF & IS is handy for R&G for instance), so I could get these for US$1k on the second hand market easily: Canon 24-105mm f/4L for general run and gun shooting, plus the Yongnuo 35mm f/2 and Canon 50mm f/1.8 because they're very cheap general purpose fast primes. And the Canon 24mm f/2.8 STM because it is dirt cheap, and an extremely handy wide pancake lens for gimbal use (24-105mm is too long I expect to fit on many small gimbals, as the sheer size of the URSA-M is already stretching the capacity of many of them).

Remember also the GH4 has a small crop in 4K relative to m4/3

Do you want manual or TTL?
-
I went with the Roxsen focal reducer (they're a reseller/distributor for RJ I believe), because I need to use my Nikon G series lenses on it. But I'd also recommend the Mitakon focal reducer too.

Blackmagic Design is getting better and better at shipping their cameras in a timely manner. I expect we'll see them in much less than a year from now. I believe them when they say it will ship in July when it comes to the URSA Mini 4K and BMMCC. As those two should need the least prep to be ready. The 4.6K sensor however.... I wouldn't be too surprised if that one slips by a few months. Simply because it is their first time making their own sensor.

DAMN YOU..... I'm a kiwi! :-D
-
Is fine, I use the same kind of thing with my NX300 and other mirrorless cameras. However that won't work with Nikon G series lenses. But will be fine with the older ones. (and obviously focus will be MF)
-
Nooo.... don't get them in m4/3 mount! The safest bet is to get them in Nikon F mount. I went into a bit more detail as to why when I purchased my set: http://ironfilm.co.nz/rokinon-cine-lenses/

While I agree with your general comments about DSLR sales trending down and the market fragmenting, Canon is still so big that even if the 5Dmk4 is a sales "flop" for Canon, that still means it sells many many more than most of its competitors would.
-
Do we even need to speculate about the Canon 5Dmk4? As it is sooo easy to predict: 1) they'll sell bucket loads of it. (thanks to their marketing machine, their size, and retail presence, and idiot friends giving recommendations to their mates while not having a clue....) 2) but tech spec gear heads like ourselves who actually know their sh*t will be very very disappointed in what a flop it is.
-
Yes, just go with the original Tokina 11-16mm for Nikon F mount and get rid of your other UWA.

http://***URL removed***/articles/3706732844/samsung-releases-nx1-firmware-update-with-improvements-for-both-photo-and-video> "Count Up: Rec run / automatic restart when shooting / Free run" That looks like a really big thing for me!! I'd have much rather wished it got rid entirely of the video time limit, but that is the next best! :-D Could somebody test this out for me? Also remind me, the NX1 does still have focus peaking and focus assist and histograms will recording?

B&H said it is the same sensor as is in the GX7 and LX100, and lots and lots of people use the LX100 as a 4K B cam to their GH4. So I'd say if you're comfortable already using an LX100 as your B cam, then you'll have no problem with the G7 matching :-) I wonder when the NX50 will come out?? That might not have the awful NX500 cropping, and have an external mic input, and make it a decent cheaper competitor vs the Panasonic G7

"Good" news, G7's HD has no limit. But the 4K does have a 30 minute limit. Not PAL/NTSC switchable. But live HDMI does work. https://twitter.com/cpgphotos/status/600334936298672128https://twitter.com/cpgphotos/status/600334852538392576
