32bit is not having a major widespread impact. I wouldn't call that "revolutionary". But the Zoom F8? It brought pro level quality and feature sets waaaaaaaaay down into the sub $1K market. That's incredible.
-
Yes, I reckon this is the GH5S sensor being reused inside a 2nd camera body. Glad to see SDI and TC BNC! Pity it is only 420 internal?? At least Panasonic is being smart about it, and making it be compatible with their existing Panasonic DMW-XLR1 XLR Microphone Adapter.

Wonder what the Nikon Z6mk2 (and Nikon Z5 / Panasonic S5) will do to the Nikon Z6mk1 pricing on eBay, might make it even as cheap as a Panasonic G9 is? Hmmmm.....
-
Amazing! Everything? Been a lead actress on a show too? If they can afford FS7/C300/Alexa/REDs, then surely they can afford the Canon C70....
-
If it is going for the "small boxy" form factor I hope that it has SDI! (as well has full size HDMI)
-
The Zoom F8 was a revolution for low/no budget indie filmmakers when it comes to the sound department, like the D90/GH1/5Dmk2 was for low/no budget indie DoPs.
-
Good points! Treat the Nikon Z5 as a FF stills camera, but also.... a S35 filming camera.
-
That's what you want to feel in your camera! Did you hear about the Komodo which got stolen at gunpoint? If he'd had an S5 instead, then he could have fought back!
-
I'd hope the typical pro Greek DoP is doing better than 15K Euros per year! That's worse than the average income for Greece.
-
That's awesome! Been pretty busy myself in recent weeks with sound work (did a shoot for Saatchi & Saatchi yesterday, went out onto the water with Team NZ!), and a bit of LX Assist work too on Music Videos / TVCs. Glad I've got today empty! I needed the break.
-
No SDI?? :-/ Better at least have a BNC Timecode input!
-
Wow, that is very lost! How is shooting life going for you in Auckland at the moment under Level 2?
-
We get the same with audio recorders too! haha Even though the Sound Devices 6 Series is really old, if measured in "camera years" that is. (although people kinda have point about how quickly the MixPre Gen2 came out after the OG MixPre recorders)
-
Are you doing this full time? Or is it just a part time thing and something else is your real money earner? As if you're doing this full time, even at the super low budget end, and you're only getting say $25K/yr, then it is still easy to justify owning a C70. (or similar) Let's say you have the C70 for just three years, the C70 is only $3.5K extra than a Panasonic GH5 (or a7mk3, or Z6, or whatever). On a per year basis you're only spending an extra $1K-ish!! Even only really low revenue of just $25K/yr that's still easily justifiable to buy a C70.

"Emperor's New Clothes" is a good analogy! I'll be always thinking of this in the future next time someone is making claims about so called "Full Frame" and is unable to back up those claims.

Damn you Caleb! 😂🤣ðŸ˜

Bring it out for RF mount too. Plenty of C70 shooters would be happy to give up 20mm on the long end if they can go to 24mm on the wide end. (as 50mm tele is kinda doable for a general purpose S35 zoom, but 28mm max wide end is seriously pushing it!)
-
Yes, I wish this stayed unlocked for a bit longer (a whole 24hrs would be good). Is nicer to just add something to a post a few minutes later rather than create a whole new post. Also I wish the posts would auto merge like they used to do! For instance I posted this comment almost instantly after my previous one yet rather than merging these two together, it had them be two separate posts. Yes! Agreed! Any color but blue please...
-
yes, also dimmer colored themes makes it easier to get yourself to bed in a timely mind rather than the bright lights fooling your brain into thinking it is daytime to be awake for! (although I already use f.lux) Thank you! Better contrast between text and background helps a lot of readability.
-
You can see how easily a camera can justify having a price an extra two grand higher (convenience factor + quality VND cost + spares + adapters) just simply by having internal NDs, let alone any other additional feature in the C70!
-
Not just the S1H but the GH5S as well! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg-dPBmY1rc

Almost everyone shooting with an ARRI (except perhaps the AMIRA) is shooting with a crew, they'll have someone else doing the sound, at least a 1st AC (if not a 2nd too, and perhaps more). Odds are decent there will be a Gaffer/Grip there too. They have the man power to handle the extra hassle. While the FS7/C300 is great for OMB or small crews, that need to move fast.
-
Of course! Hire professionals. But yes, even if you're doing it OMB and handling audio yourself, a camera like a Sony FS7 *is* easier to use for audio than a Canon EOS M50. Now I'm not saying you couldn't get just as "acceptable" audio on a M50 as a FS7 in ideal conditions, but I am saying the FS7 makes your life easier. (which means less mistakes and screw ups) This difference might only be small, it might only make your life 5% easier (although the likes of NDs, SDI, waveforms, and more, makes your life easier by far more than just 5%!), but if you've got thousands of dollars of client's money riding on this shoot and you not screwing up the audio, then that 5% difference starts to really matter a lot to you! And suddenly the difference between renting an M50 or a FS7 now feels like nothing at all.

Nothing controversial there, that isn't even surprising to me. It is just how this forum leans, in terms of the average poster, we're not ARRI owners.
