People think there will be a C50??? What will that be, a C200 without raw?
-
That comment aged badly!

Nooooooooooo........... the image got removed! 😞 Anybody have a copy?

Am pleasantly pleased and surprised (as the C100/C200 never had this) that the new Canon C70 has Timecode I/O. Although I bet most C70 buyers would wish that BNC connector was for HD-SDI instead of TC!

Don't believe it is possible to shoot 4:3 with the Sony F3 Neither could you desqueeze it in camera. Get another monitor to do that specifically?

Yes, a "G9mk2" won't happen until after the GH6 (perhaps a whole year or longer after a GH6).

Yeah I don't understand some of the pricing on eBay right now. I've been following closely the prices of G7/G85/G9/GH5 for a while, waiting for the big drop. The new releases are not doing it. (GH5S? That isn't pushing down the original GH5 prices. G95? Snoozefest! G100? Even worse! The Panasonic L Mount cameras? They're not impacting Panasonic MFT pricing on eBay. Olympus cameras? Ditto) The biggest economic crisis of our generation is not doing it. Not even the slow progress of time is making them depreciate down. As we're seeing some prices pop back up again? It isn't making sense. And I'm seeing it with other products too, like I'd have expected to see Lectrosonics SR (especially 600MHz band) drop down to US$700ish each as I was getting them for around that price already last year. But instead, the cheapest on eBay right now is $1K! It does.

Blackmagic casually announces 12K URSA Mini Pro Camera
IronFilm replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
That is INCREDIBLE. For 99% of us we don't need global shutter. -
The GH5 has indeed been their biggest competitor to their a7Smk2. How bad would Panasonic's first generation PDAF be? Vs how good their current autofocus (which is getting pretty decent with the Panasonic G9) would be in a couple more generations? Does make much sense for Panasonic to go after PDAF, even if that was an option Sony(Canon?) would allow them to take.

Did it come with any extras?

Compared to where they were trending to, they've basically nearly tripled vs what they would've been.

Impressed with the range of the SD-Remote App for the Sound Devices 833.

Panasonic G9 (or even Olympus, if you don't mind missing out on 10bit, or wishing to wait/gamble on the future raw video from Olympus??) or Nikon Z5 (yes, I said "Z5", not Z6) are both definitely worth checking out. Fujifilm are worth taking a look at too, such as X-T3 or X-T4 Panasonic/Olympus would give you the better bang for your buck.

I don't think you are wrong at all, and rather that it is indeed very important how you make the client feels, and this factor shouldn't be ignored. Disagree though that the EVA1 "looks like a 90's camcorder". Wish it has a MFT option, a true AF100 successor... finally! But with the launch of L Mount, it seems that ship has finally sailed for good, and now will never ever happen. This is why it is a tough sell to be convinced to buy anything other than a FS7 (or maaaaybe a C300mk2), because the FS7 is by far the most requested camera in the low/mid range of work.

Just give plenty of SDI outputs, with full individual control over each, and let people use their own preferred monitors.

HDMI is 8bit only.

Likely companies had already done all the development they could for the R5/R6/a7Smk3 (especially the a7Smk3! Seeing as how it had already been delayed). They could fine tune it a little, but otherwise, why delay it until after the pandemic? (which is when exactly?? 2021??? Possibly. But honestly nobody could even rule out it being 2022....) Canon and Sony don't want to risk launching their cameras much later into the future, when there might be stiffer competition, and instead of creating a big splash with their launch, these now "outdated" cameras would land with a thud.

That's "F2.8 equivalent" by the usual Super 35mm standard. S35 F2.8 DoF is plenty fast enough for shallow DoF for many filmmaking purposes.

No, it will have to be a MFT camera! Maaaaybe they will repackage an almost identical camera, into the same body but with an L Mount and using a bigger APS-C cut of the sensor wafer. Might be logical from the perspective of minimal extra R&D to make another camera model, but I hope not as would confusing their ("kind of") simple branding they've got currently of MFT vs FF by introducing a new range in between.
