  1. In fact, I loved the completely outside of the box thinking of this camera, like the Z-Cams: the body only contains the basics, and you choose how to configure the grips and accessories. Ok, Z-Cam and Blackmagic have small cameras like this, but it is a first for a hybrid (although we have to see the stills performance). You want a very small camera for a jacket pocket? Done. Need a bigger grip, to use with heavier lenses? There will be 2 available. And with no upper cameras to protect, looks like they go berserk with the specs. And last, the thing is DAMN PRETTY, reminded me the Agfa Optima Sensor.
  2. Just put a Tony Northrup video, any living being looks like a deer in the headlights trying to understand it. But not for more than 30 seconds - it is animal cruelty, brain damages could occur.
  3. If you use an external recorder, better be careful. https://www.mu-43.com/threads/major-problem-with-firmware-3-0-omd-em1-mkii-and-hdmi-out-audio.104674/
  4. The "best" part was that the monitor does not include the stand, and the stand costs...US$ 999,00. Yep, an aluminum stand pricier than a Galaxy S10+.
  5. Very scarce info from the press releases. And...no mention of IBIS could be a bad sign.
  6. Yep, looks like that the firmware will be free for existing customers, and new ones until September 30th. https://www.newsshooter.com/2019/06/01/panasonic-lumix-s1-dmw-sfu2-software-upgrade-key/
  7. If Fuji had implemented IBIS in the XT3 / XT30, probably would sell all my m43 gear and jumped to them. Have to see how the OIS in their lenses works in handheld, though. What was your impressions? But for me the dealbreaker in the Xt30 was the 10/15 minutes movie limit. I don't shoot interviews or documentary, but like to record live concerts, and some songs lasts more than 10 minutes (was an issue when the LX100 was my first 4k camera). 30 or even 20 minutes would be perfect - hope that when the XT-3 / XT-30 sales slows down Fuji could unlock it with a firmware update. Have both the GX85 and the E-M10 III, still have to make a comparison. But for stills, the E-M10 III is fucking amazing, best jpg colors that I've ever seeing in a m43 camera (and VERY different from most of the other Olympuses, there is something different there). No crop in 4k is great in the E-m10 III too, and the EVF is VERY good, could get critical focus only with enlarged view, no peaking needed. But the GX85 with the Cinelike-D unlocked (eternal thanks to @BTM_Pix) with Leeming Lut applied have very good colors. The XT-30 EVF is even smaller than the GX85 one, is that correct?
  8. Had one E-M5 MK II, but when shooting concerts it was my stills camera. Once tried with the 1.x firmware, and did not like the footage. But prior to return it to Olympus (the authorized service here literally destroyed the camera trying to fix a...bad EVF sensor), made a quick test with the firmware that improved the video modes and it was MUCH better. But the E-M10 MK III is even better.
  9. Can't say it is a cinematic image (is a very personal taste concept), but the E-M10 MK III have a VERY different color science from all the other Olympus cameras (the E-M1 MK II could have the same colors, since the E-M10 III uses the same chipset). Noted it after shooting some stills of my daughter - best skintones that I've saw in JPG from m4/3 (and this is my 7th m4/3 body), destroyed the ones on my Fuji X100S. Much warmer tones, looks a lot like Canon colors. Then I've gone to DPReview and Imaging Resource, used their test comparison tools, and noted the same - warmer tones than all the Panasonics, and different from a lot of other Olympus cameras (Pen F, E-M5 II, E-M1 MK I, previous E-M10 versions). There is something different in that little beast. If Oly did not had cripple their firmware (a lot for stills, a little for video), I could say that it is the hidden gem of the current Oly bodies.
  10. They could hurt enterprises, but China don't have much more margin to manouver. They already taxed some American goods, but they are on the limit of their trade surplus. The Orange Dumbass knows that, that's why they are raising the stakes.
  11. ARM suspended business with Huawei. Now they are REALLY fucked. https://www.anandtech.com/show/14373/report-arm-suspends-business-with-huawei
  12. L Rumours confirmed that it is a Cine L Mount camera, not the GH6.
  13. I've mentioned in some places (even commenting in one post here in EOSHD, I think) that my dream MFT camera would be one with the GH5s sensor with options to turn on or off the Quad-Bayer (like these 40-48mp smartphones are doing). You would have 40mp stills option to work with good light, 10mp to work with low light, and maybe (don't know if it is possible because of the Quad Bayer arrangement) a 20mp with some kind of interpolation. And for video, the excellent 4k of the GH5s / BMPCC 4k. Put is on a camera with IBIS, and the deal is done. Maybe is the plan for the GH6. And a GX10 like this (even with a 30min 4l record limit) would sell like hotcakes.
  14. Indeed, the sensor looks not a regular 4/3 - in fact looks like it have a 16:9 aspect. Is it the case, @DaveAltizer?
  15. Newsshooter made some footage with a prototype in Las Vegas. https://www.newsshooter.com/2019/04/08/we-take-sharps-upcoming-8k-micro-four-thirds-camera-for-a-spin/ Interestingly, Sharp says that the sensor is not QuadBayer, and it is a 33mp new sensor made by them. As expected, it is not a low light camera.
  16. As I said...Panasonic is so predictable. Only added V-Log L, headphone jack and 1080p120. Same crop as the GX9 - stupid move, as 10bit modes, 4K60 and other better specs would be enough for segmentation between this and the GH5 / G9. Will be a good camera, as the G80 was; but if you don't need weather sealing and/or IBIS, the XT-30 is a much better camera.
  17. Guys, don't raise too much your expectations. The G85 was a GX85 in a "DSLR" body, better EVF, weather sealing, Dual IS 2, flip screen and mic input. The absence of the 6k Photo Mode, for me, tells that this camera is the same - a GX9 with the same improvements. Hence, the same 1,22x crop over the MFTs 2x crop, and the same video specs, same DFD AF. Price will probably US$ 899 - clashes with the XT-30, which is arguably a better video camera; probably Panasonic will bet that IBIS and weather sealing will be enough. Hope that I'm wrong, but after the LX200, I see Panasonic not spending a dime in reasearch for the new MFT cameras until the GH6.
  18. A case when the director is always a dick.
  19. Not often, for sure. But I like to shoot concerts, and some jams and 2 connected songs exceed this limit (have a LX100 with 15 min limit and sometimes had some troubles with it). And probably the limit is not because of heat - I guess that the XT-3 does not have heat problems and have the same chipset. 30 min would be a good limit - this I believe that could comes in a future firmware upgrade, when the XT-3 sales decline. But if Atomos could release a Ninja Star 4k, it would be a HELL of a combo - cheap and powerful.
  20. Funny is that Tony loves to shoot 4k60 in it's GH5, and dismiss it in the S1 cameras.
  21. For hobbyists like me, only the 10 min limit (and the lack of IBIS) is a serious problem. Could have the XT-100 lcd hinge, too. But looks like and amazing value. GX85-GX9, in the same price point, have 100Mbps 4K, more crop, much worse AF - only have IBIS as advantage.
  22. If this was not a Sony sensor, probably by now Panasonic would say explicitly, or "leaked" it in some way. Especially if made by them in Towerjazz. No word for the camera maker = usually is a Sony sensor.
