  1. Hi all, as I have Panasonic G6 the battery life is not the thing a like about it and what is more I shoot documentary in remote areas with no electricity... I came across this battery solution on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVA8kvEwb4k that gives at least 10 hours of recording! The thing is that this is for Panasonic GH2 that has the same battery as G6 ( 7,2 V) but the power station has 9V. I noticed that the charger for G6 has output 8,4V so do you think that 9V will not cause any damage if I do the same for G6? Thanx a lot!
  2. I think that RAW is only for a specialized work with a lots of SDcard storage or SSD discs and very fast post processing gear. For documentary shooting it is not a good option and many people will stay with H.264. May be in near future it will be better solved out for me as a non professional shooter.
  3. I agree that in the most of situations G6 looks videoish but I believe if good lenses are used (Panasonic 25mm f 1,4 or some Canon FD), sharpness is decreased to -5 and I do some grading in post so I thing that the result will be really good and comparable to GH3. Of course it is incomparable to RAW from 5D but considering the money and all gear around it is one of the best choices untill the BMD will do something better for documentary purposes than BMPCC :-)
  4. It unbelievable how good is 700 USD Panasonic G6 doing against 3500 USD Canon 5D MarkIII: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu2iscZIaMg
  5. The video looks great! I just want to ask about the best settings for postproduction. I put all down to -5 (sharpness, brihgtness, NR...) but I am not sure if it is ok. May be there should be something set differently what are the suggestions?
  6.   Thank you very much for your reply! It really helped me to make decision. 3 days ago I bought SD card Sony 94Mbps went to local Panasonic store and tried to shoot some footage from both GH3 (50MBps) and G6 (24MBps AVCHD). After I made some grading in Sony Vegas and projected on my 165cm plasma TV Pananasonic TX -P65VT60. The difference is hardly noticable, I saw better edges of leafs on trees that was in longer distance from the shooting point but as you write it is not what worth so much extra money. For me it is better to invest the spare money to better lenses as Panasonic 25mm F 1,4 because the body will be outdated in 2 years but the lens will keep it's value much longer. As I shoot documentaries in remote areas with no acces to elektricity it is one the most important things the battery life. I know that battery life of GH3 is outstanding but I read that G6 could be better, I wonder how much time the battery keeps running in G6 if shooting 50% EVF and 50% LCD? Thanx for reply!
  7. Hi all,   I am between Panasonic G6 and GH3 , my lenses: Canon FD 50mm 1,8, Canon FD 85MM 1,8, Panasonic 25mm F 1,4. I know the differences between G6 and GH3 but for film look video is there really so big difference when grading filmed material in terms of higher bitrate of GH3? Do you notice anything significant in two the same graded videos one from G6 and one from GH3? And last question is the difference so big that it worth the extra money for GH3 body? I grade video manually in Sony Vegas.   Thank you all for your replies!!! :-)
  8. Hi,   I am about to buy Panasonic GH3 and pana 35-100mm F2,8 seems too expensive to me... so my question is if this metabone speedbooster will work with Nikon MF 35-70mm f3,5 AIS mounted on GH3?   Thanx a lot!
