Okay so if Canon is class leading in ND adapters, I think I should be giving up too. Yes there are 2-3 areas where Canon shines such as DPAF. If All other cameras would be GH5 AF level that would be a big point. Fact is Sony, Fuji and Nikon now have fantastic video AF. They catch up quickly in the 2-3 points where Canon shines. For where Canon is behind, they are 5 years behind and they do not catch up. That's the difference and that's why it's not acceptable. It's acceptable to not be perfect in all aspects as you say no camera is perfect. Selling the R for $2200 with those extreme limitations is not acceptable for me. Even for photography only, the 5DIV/ EOS R sensor catches up with 5y old Sony sensor.

True. But if all the people unhappy with what canon offers would yell online like we do, Canon would be forcing to move at some point. Also, thousands of people not member in Eoshd forum read those pages, lots of them beginners and not necessarily knowing well the cameras and seeking advice.

Not fair enough. This is ridiculous. As ridiculous as Peter Mckinon videos on Youtube. The guy says he is leaving his 1DX2 and switching to the EOS R, and that the limitations (no FH 120p, wait who shoots 720p?, big 4K crop,...) will actually force him to push his creativity. Most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. It goes as far as this to defend Canon. The fact is, pro or not pro, reliability or not, usability or not, those specs are unacceptable. Using a 2y old sensor is not acceptable especially when it was far behind the competition 2y ago. 1.7x crop is not acceptable, no one does that. In all interviews Canon answer they could not do no crop. Well every manufacturer on the planet can except them. 3y old FF camera can do 120p in FHD but Canon say they could not with the EOS R. This is a joke, people should buy 0 EOS R to shake this freaking company and make them think about releasing something decent. Ok I understand, they have other advantages like ergonomics and so on. This does not and cannot justify the above. They do not need 4K120P RAW sure, just DECENT spec. Even if they have the lowest spec of the competition. But staying 5 years behind is so ridiculous. Stop defending what can't be.

True. Especially keep in mind that the Pana MF is a rip off cause it uses a small medium format sensor. Sony is making way larger true MF ones. Too little difference between a D850 sensor and the fuji 50mpx sensor in my opinion. No gain in DR, no really gain in mpx, much more expensive and bigger so useless. But with 100mpx bigger MF sensor you start to have real advantages with twice de mpx, better DR and even thiner DoF for more 3D look. Once MF are at this standard of sensor size and mpx for $3000 which means in 5 years, I will happily switch. Right now the best of all words is FF for me. Real DR / mpx advantage over APSC and reasonable size (Sony A7,...).

THIS + why DFD AF when they know it's not as good as DPAF in video? Please throw shit on Canon on my behalf.

Cool, thanks for reporting. Ordered mine via their $100 off when you trade in an old camera. I literally bough a $10 10 year old compact camera, sent it (prepaid label) to GoPro and I am getting it for $299. This rocks.

Cool. @OliKMIA are you able to use the LUT they uploaded in their "download" page for the Mavic 2 Pro ? With color final on FCPX, it says the lut file has an error.

Panasonic and Sigma ones will be normal priced. Just the Leica will be expensive. Anyway, 2019 is gonna be exciting. We know at least 1 FF mirrorless will be 4K60fps now. Let’s see the A7SIII -

Announced. The camera I have been waiting for. except for AF :(( -
Worst bullish I have seen in a long time. I liked this guy videos, but now I will be more carefull. T - First of all, the sharpness on the MP2 should be turned to +1 because they have turned down the digital sharpness compared to previous drone. - Secondly, the guy uses AF which is known to suck. Just go MF and click on infinity symbol and all your footages will look sharp and no focus issue. Someone tells him? - Third and MOST important: the diffraction on the MP2 is enormous past F5.6. Best sharpness is achieved at 2.8, and best corner sharpness at F/4. Sweet overall spot is F/4. Shoot in either manual either aperture priority and always between 2.8 and F4. I am sure the aperture was higher in his shot. Do the 3 steps above, re-compare, and the guy will order again the Mavic. When you put out videos like this for the world and you are popular you should do the work properly. Picture from the Pro 2 from this weekend. Shot in JPG.

Why bother with the GH5, XT3 and pocket stuff when 24mpx / 48mpx Panasonic 4K60P FF cameras come tomorrow? Because they will ship in March yeah I know. Still I don't bother with anything else. Except A7S III because the Pana AF will suck.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

The 28-75 is terrific. Terrific IQ and price, for the weight of a F4. For me it makes it the best lens I have ever used. I can travel and go in the mountain with a light set up. When Tamron releases a E mount 15-28 that is also very light it will be the first real combo beating by a big margin the DSLR combo in term of weight. When you see the IQ/weight of the Sony 12-24 compared to DSLRs you start to understand the benefit of short flange distance for wide angle lenses. Having a 2.8 wide angle + standard zoom at such weight + the low weight of mirrorless body is a real plus for me. The 24-70 F4 I don't even touch it. Why not use a GH5 with 12-35mm then? gives you same DoF, better light .... The point of FF in video is chasing some specific looks. F4 on FF is an absurdity for me. You have all the cons. Except for stills where in the case of landscape you shoot at F11 anyway and benefit a lot from higher DR and so on. But in 8 bit video, well not so much. -
I agree. I shot my Cuba video with RX100 as well, and A7R II. I also had the RX100 on the crane. Very good combo indeed for traveling. As you say it is missing in low light but I also found difficult to have nice DoF for portraits. For most people shots I used the A7R II for this reason. So which lenses did you use on the A7III? As for the video you can find it here:
-
Very nice video! I enjoyed GO Cuba as well which at this time inspired my with my own Cuba video. Technical questions: Did you use a gimbal? Seems like the RX100 was not used much? What lenses on A7III, and order of use/preference? Why do you upload the video in FHD only?

This is sooo hilarious. But so true...

No need for rating, would always be (T0). Edit: someone made the joke Well, I am actually not joking -
Screen capture from yesterday EDIT: Wow why does this image looks sooo contrasty and over-graded while on my computer it's normal ?! Same one with color grade but at 20% and with 0 contrast added. Still look awful. Some knows why is that?
-
What model have you ? I had the exact same view for all my gopros except the 6. Very pleased when I watch the footage. Very usable and as always as you say you use it when no other tool will do. I mean what else am I gonna use for a situation like this from yesterday, a GH5 strapped on my chest?
-
Just because you said something positive about me I did it ; It's 0.85KG on the scale . @Emanuel BTW no one speaks about this on the web but did you notice ??? Price rise on DJI.com, in US and also Europe. 50$ more for the drone, 60$ more the fly more pack, ND filters, batteries, everything is more expensive. I thought about Trump taxes at first but since the rise also happens in EUR I do not know... Anyway happy I got it for the previous price. Very surprising still.

BS clickbait. Of course there is no quality improvement on a basic image between normal and log. The point of log is not better quality, the point is being able to grade the way you want and not fall appart thanks to 10 bit. Ask the guy to take a difficult scene with sun, and do a heavy grade in both and we will see.... If you do not need to grade the footage there is no point in shooting log indeed.
