What I can tell you is that I have used the 2 latest Crane gimbal. One of them (the latest) is heavier cause it can take higher playload. I could not care less of having a ONE HAND gimbal that can take 7 lbs playload. It is totally illogic to have that load + gimbal weight, 10 lbs total in 1 hand. One cannot film more than 2 min with that. the other crane gimbal is perfect ration weight/playload. The reason I got interest for DJI: - build quality - tons of features (focus ring could be great with the future BM camera) - DJI has an historical record of buttery smooth gimbal (n1 criteria for me) But if it is as heavy as these 2 guys say... Forget it I am gonna go with the moza aircross or buy again the Crane which was on sale for 399. I am waiting for the A7SIII / BM at this point so not much in a hurry.

Seems way too heavy. Too bad...

I have known that from the day I started photography. BUT as you say, 1.2 and 1.4 on FF cannot be replicated on M43 and i do not agree there is a big difference between a FF 1.4 and 2.0. Also I don’t agree with DR in stills. Giant leap between M43 and FF, and yes I have owned a GH4, GH5 and Olympus as well as FF DSLRs and A7RII. Massive real world difference. In fact as you say super 35 is not bad. A Nikon D7200 for exemple boasts a very good usable DR better even that some FF like Canon shit. But M43, not at all. For video DR is less impacted. In fact FF is not crazy important for me in video especially because having a 1.4 look in video is pretty hard to manage. I returned the GH5 not because of M43, but because of that god damn shitty AF. GH5 with great AF is all I need for video and I guess it’s gonna be a A7S3 i would not mind paying less for body and lens and loose FF. Again, for video only.

Sony A7 III first impressions - what is going on with metering in video?
wolf33d replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
A7SIII with Prores RAW would rip off the market. Will not happen though. Best we can expect is 4k60p and 4k30p 10 bit like the GH5. And that would be great because it would add FF and great AF, two things highly missing on the GH5. -
New footage? Did we get some already that I missed?
-
Not true. He uses most of the time AF, especially when on gimbal. the case of Brandon is more a proof that AF is amazing for video, than the contrary.
-
Any official footage published yet? Why is BM not publishing an advertisement video 100% shot on this camera, like everyone else, I do not get it? Would love to see what this camera is capable of in 4K60p. Would love to play with some ProRes footage too from it. Would love to demo it actually, if BM can send me a unit or 2..!

Amazing debate guys on wether or not BM make people pay for resolve and about camera bodies... Seriously..
-
Why PC users? Resolve is on Mac. I tried it, don't like it at all so not an option for me. On Mac you have the option to use Premiere, Resolve or FCPX whatever suits you best, for years.
-
Damn it. I really like Apple products and software i really do. But they are a real PITFA when it comes to open. On the other hand DJI supports prores raw as others do also so no excuse for BM. They are probably looking at what people say now

This codec is a game changer. I hope Blackmagic will update the Pocket with it. I feel sorry for the Apple haters that use PC. I have used Premiere for a couple of projects and feel your pain! Can’t wait to cut through 4K raw like butter as it is usually with ProRes
-
Wow just discovered Prores Raw. This code is huge game changer for me, speed editing and low weight of prores with raw color grading opportunity. Wonder why they did not put that in this camera... maybe soft update
-
I would love to see footage from this one. Why is there no footage yet?
-
I preordered. I hope it boosts Sony to release better than 4K60p 8 bit on A7siii though... This thing is magnificent but that AF...... Same camera with Canon DPAF I would pay double the price easily. I love the screen, the recording formats... image will be gorgeous. No IBIS means Gimbal and Gimbal means continuous AF. Never right...
-
AF?
-
Wonderful. Thank you for helping me understand better the type of population and their arguments who gets fooled by Canon. God forbid you and your gorgeous 5DIV screen....

With DPREVIEW: - The EOS M50 offers 4K video and Dual Pixel CMOS AF, but not at the same time. Is there a technical reason for this limitation? "With the EOS 5D Mark IV, we do offer 4K video and Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus, so technically it is feasible. But given the position of the M50 in the lineup, we can’t include all of the features available in a product like the 5D IV. Given the position of the product, we wanted to achieve the optimal balance [of features] in a camera in that range." We all knew Canon was crippling its products. Now is another proof. How can they dare sell you completely crippled shits for so much money? And people buy that. What a ridiculous company. I am speechless.

Great review. 1080p120 is so much better than on GH5... details in 4K too.

The A7III is a lot cleaner at 51 000 ISO than the GH5 is at 6400 ISO ... Also cleaner than the A7RIII. And the surprise is that the FF mode is a lot cleaner than the APSC mode ! I would say 51000 ISO is definitely usable on the A7III, and 12800 is perfect, which is insane. Really? So entry level FF was a lot less than 2000$ before? I dont think so. And is the A7III entry level specs? I dont think so. Fact is, this camera is a bargain for what it offers VS anything on the market. Your comment is simply irrelevant.

Edit: wrong topic
-
I do not see the issue. If they plan well no pbm. worst case they can announce it with a shipping date 2-3 month later
-
Why ? A7III at cp+, a7sIII at NAB. Fully logical.
-
I am hopping for the following: SAME Camera as A7III with same sensor but: + weather sealing and A7RIII screen/viewfinder (this is a given...) + 4k60p + 1080-240p + 10 bit Keeping the same A7III sensor is great: Makes it cheaper for Sony, gives us A7III-like image quality for stills (12mp not good enough for me) and most important allows for APSC video mode. Having 2 lenses in one is just great. Put a 20 or 24mm on that and you get a very wide + standard 35mm, and put a light 50mm prime and you get a useful standard 50mm + a portrait lens 75mm. This gives you 24/35/50/75mm covered with just 2 lenses. How amazing is that? For me, this would blow the GH5. Just make it Sony! Oh, and the only potential issue with my spec list would be Rolling Shutter with the 24mpx..... Hopefully they can sort that out.

Absolutely not. The sigma versions have complete AF tweak dedicated to Sony (officially announced). That’s a big enough point to go direct.

You are wrong. A9 sensor is not BSI (see official Sony specs). That’s why they claim 15 stops of DR with A7III. It will have better IQ than A9 for sure. You are also wrong with the measurement between A9 and RIII. Check DXO as well as real world comparison on Dpreview.
