After watching a lot of videos, G9 AF is not that good. In many cases it fails even more than GH5 when tracking. My minimum acceptable level for video AF is A6500, or A9.
-
PRECISELY. But well, at least if they could put a PHASE DETECTION AF like on the Sony A7RIII/A9 I would be happy. That would be much better than their shitty CDAF. Dual Pixel AF of course would be the best. But honestly A9 AF on gimbal is completely usable, unlike GH5 AF which is the deal breaker on this camera for me. If the GH5s is a GH5 with good video AF this is all I ask and need. If they bring 4K120fps and more well I will definitely TAKE it, but hopefully they don't sell that for $5K.
-
The fact that Pana did not asked you to highlight the AF feature does not mean you do not know if this new GH5 has a Phase Detection Autofocus
-
Same here. Only thing missing for my use. @Neumann Films is going to answer us if that's the case

Your hat better be a pancake then

Awesome. Please good video DPAF and I AM IN. Only thing missing in the GH5 for me. Then it's gonna be GH5s / A7SIII battle with the A7SIII being a full frame GH5. But honestly for video, sensor size above M43 do not make as much as a difference for my use like in photo.

HANDS DOWN the D750 over the 5D3 for stills. Dynamic range on the 5D3 is a joke. Your canon lens are a no problem situation. Just easily sell them and buy used nikon lens instead. I do not understand why all the internet makes a big deal about being invested already to a lens system. You are not being married to your lenses guys..... I have changed 4-5 times of "system" and selling a few lenses has never been an issue.

4K60P + A9 AF optimized for video + better IBIS is all I need. Dual SD, better battery and so on is a GIVEN considering A7RIII. If they bring 10bit and so on it is bonus.. I am just afraid that they bring all ergonomics improvement and AF of the A7RIII together with 10 bit and call it an upgrade. 4K60P is the feature I am the least sure about but the most important one. Don't include that and I will have to get a G9 instead...

Depends on your need. I guess for 95% of filmmakers, GH5 is definitely better. I am in the market for a 4K60p small camera and not more than $2K. The pros of GH5 over G9 for video you mentionned: VLOG: I do not use it in 4K60p 8bit HLG: N/A in 4K60 ALLI and 10bit : N/A Unlimited recording time: I never record for more than 1min 6K anamorphic: N/A for 4K60p Master Pedestal: never used that G9 on the other hand has Better AF / Better IBIS and less expensive. I will take that any day thanks. Again, depends on what you need.
-
I will pick it over GH5 too. Better stabilisation. Better AF in video according to first tests. And I am shooting 100% 4K60p. AND less expensive
-
Lol, forgot to mention I have nothing to do with this video or youtube channel. But above that, I forgot some people here definitely have a problem.
-
Interesting video. I am sure people could do great things with this little camera. It doesn’t show it can replace a GH5 but it shows you can do great things with it, and if you need 4K60p in good light outside for a specific shot, even Pro commercial, the iPhone would do great.

Canon C200 as workhorse. You will love the AF for all your projects, image quality and ergonomics. 1DXII for 4K60P and stills. 16-35 + 24-70 + 70-200 that you can use on both cameras and you are all set. Accessories are easy.

Clearly, but I would be surprised that we have to wait till April. NAB is clearly the latest that it is gonna be announced.
-
NAB 2018 is too late. They need to compete with PANA. My prediction is A7SIII will get same improvements as A7RIII: dual slot, battery, good AF, ... + 4K60P + 10 bit. In which case I would rather get it than the GH5. The PDAF from the A9 for video + GH5 video specs + Full Frame is absolute winner for me. Paired with A7RIII for photography and you are all set.

? Nikon D850 packs tons of more things for many photographs than Nikon D5. And it uses D5 AF. Yet it is so less expensive. A9 is expensive because aiming at D5 and 1DX with extreme speed and shooting burst. There is no reason why A7SIII should cost 4500$ just because it gets the same battery as A9 and AF. See above exemple. Especially when the amazing GH5 costs 1999. Your comment is as irrelevant as it gets.
-
If it is a FF GH5 with all features (AF, battery life...) of A9 for 3500 I am in. If it has less spec (no 4k60p..) and/or costs as much as A9 no thank you they can keep it.

And here is the full leak http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:v1cACqk9IgUJ:nofilmschool.com/2017/10/detailed-look-35mm-zenmuse-x7-dji+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=br 6K 30p , 4K 60P, PL mount, compatible with future gimbal... No mention of AF and so on.
-
When you google it you find a deleted article from today from nofilmschool in google cache 6K and DL Mount ....
-
Amazing. If only you could mount that to a Phantom sized drone... would be the perfect video package for me since I do gimbal and aerial work mainly. This and a D850 on the side for stills as well as non gimbal tripod video work = as good as it gets. hope it comes with good AF.

Lot better image quality (colors + lowlight + clarity) on the D850 VS A7R2 and GH5. Apparently AF in video is also better than those two. Impressive.

Panasonic GH5 Review and exclusive first look at Version 2.0 firmware
wolf33d replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
It's just too bad there is no 10bit and no All i for 4k60p. I film everything at 60p to have the luxury to slowdown in post a shot I did not know I would slow down when shooting. Using this camera for 4k60p only and not benefitting from All I and from 10bit is such a shame. -
Stills camera = 100 times less good than D850 (less dynamic range, less mpx, less good AF system ( and -4ev on the D850), no BSI sensor, less features like the new focus stacking,...) Video camera = horribly not efficient codec, super high video file size for 1.7 crop (not S35 actually) and basically no video specs at all VS let's say a GH5. All that for a premium price tag. Anyone in this word who does not own any lens, I see 0 reason to buy a Canon 5D when looking to get FF. If you are going to shoot stills you buy the D850, if video only probably something like GH5 or A7SII and if you shoot both you will probably go to Sony.
-
You bet. D850 is actually 25 grams heavier, and more than 1kg with battery and SD.

Thanks for pointing out the difference between analysis of facts in the first quote, and rumor prediction based on my ass-hair in the second quote You just won a medal for that
