It's just too bad there is no 10bit and no All i for 4k60p. I film everything at 60p to have the luxury to slowdown in post a shot I did not know I would slow down when shooting. Using this camera for 4k60p only and not benefitting from All I and from 10bit is such a shame.

Stills camera = 100 times less good than D850 (less dynamic range, less mpx, less good AF system ( and -4ev on the D850), no BSI sensor, less features like the new focus stacking,...) Video camera = horribly not efficient codec, super high video file size for 1.7 crop (not S35 actually) and basically no video specs at all VS let's say a GH5. All that for a premium price tag. Anyone in this word who does not own any lens, I see 0 reason to buy a Canon 5D when looking to get FF. If you are going to shoot stills you buy the D850, if video only probably something like GH5 or A7SII and if you shoot both you will probably go to Sony.

You bet. D850 is actually 25 grams heavier, and more than 1kg with battery and SD.

THANK YOU NIKON for releasing a great Camera at a decent price unlike the Canon 5D joke at joking price. Unfortunately there is 0 point for me to buy DSLR when A7RIII will be the same camera but twice lighter, IBIS, better video AF, better video specs. But Thanks to you, Sony will release a superb A7RIII that won't cost 4000$ and therefore the A7SIII will be priced good also. However Nikon, if you were to release a Mirrorless version of this D850, with IBIS and Canon like DPAF yet compatible with existing Nikon lens without adaptor. THEN we could talk properly.

It has been confirmed no evf and more than 8fps which considering the mpx suggests a very high speed camera. Good for video

A7iii is due late this year and a7riii in 2018. If they did that because of A7RIIi, I wonder how long before the D850 comes... Anyway next year there is also the MLC coming. Let's see

Nobody knows for 10bit. I would say unlikely to avoid competition with FS5+.. GH5 is not going to be difficult to re-sell IMO.

When I do a travel video I have like 400-500 clips from different things. I keep maybe 50 of them in the edit. Very hard sometimes when you have a keeper yet you cant keep it. But who cares.

GH5 hands down Had the 5DIII. To many hassles to deal with especially with RAW. GH5 image is great.

Well for sure it is going to be here in less than a year. Latest rumors are A7III with 4K in Q4 2017. I expect the A7SIII to arrive at the same time or in the next few months after that. With the latest tech like it has been done on the RX100 and the A99II, I expect the A7SIII to shoot 4K60p and 180-240p FHD. It will probably be what the A7Sii is to the GH4. So basically a Full Frame GH5. However in the past, the A7S was seriously lacking VS Panasonic in built, battery life, ergonomics, ... IF the A7SIII keeps the same body as A9 (dual SD, way better battery, better ergonomics) and its video AF (which is to say better than the GH5) then I see few reason to buy the GH5 VS the A7SIII. Except if you do need a camera now. Then like me you can just buy stuff for projects and re-sell after. I have been doing that for a while, waiting for a worthwile camera to keep which has never been the case yet.

Do not forget that Nikon just officially announced they are making a high end Mirrorless camera now. Also let's see what the D820 brings in a few weeks.

Some here can guess which year we will finally have a right camera? I mean, PROS from some manufacturers are CONS from others. Sony = poor ergonomics which is a Pro of Canon and vice versa and that goes for every pros and cons. Since years I have been begging for 1 manufacturer to bring those Pros together. Truly Camera market is the most disappointing industry in the world. Canon, give us a FF mirrorless with rotating multitouch screen + PDAF + EF Mount + usual colors and ergonomics + GH5 video specs and be done with it. No one on this planet having more than 2K to spare and interested in photo + video would buy anything else. Sony would be instantly dead. So what are you waiting ?

You are true. The thing is that if you look at 100 random photographers, the majority of them are not geeks. They are the contrary of geeks most of the time. Artistic people, anti technology guys and so on. That is why they buy Canon and not an NX with Android. Just look at your forum, I commented a topic the other day where everyone was saying how 8K is pointless and wont ever be needed. I was commenting how much we heard that for 4K before and for high mega pixels stills camera. And guess what, those same people on the forum are probably the most geek video/photographers out there. That says a lot.... Because of the type of people that are in video and photography today, companies like Canon serving the same old tech for years while every other single electronic product is more advanced for a tenth of the price are doing so because this is what customers want. Because those customers are anti tech guys. And that kills it for the few like me, who are geeks and want the latest tech while still being into photo and video from an artistic point of view. Damn.
