wolf33d got a reaction from Emanuel in Sony's new "pro level" APS-C
If it is an XT3 but with IBIS it would be interesting. Then after that the A7S III will be same but FF ..

wolf33d got a reaction from jonpais in Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
Not really. At least they got more light.
F/4 is slow, and not bokelicious. And it is still heavy and big because it's FF. Really, I don't see the point of F/4 on FF.
Try the 28-75mm 2.8 tamron on A7III. With video APSC crop it goes to 105mm as well, it's cheaper, better, faster, lighter. And to have equivalent DoF on M43 you would need a 14-35 F1.4 !! Which does not exist. Here you have the real advantage of FF. Not with a garbage 24-70mm F4. I would rather have a GH5 with 12-35mm 2.8 then. More light, way lighter... almost same DoF

wolf33d got a reaction from Gregormannschaft in Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless talk hots up
Not fair enough. This is ridiculous. As ridiculous as Peter Mckinon videos on Youtube. The guy says he is leaving his 1DX2 and switching to the EOS R, and that the limitations (no FH 120p, wait who shoots 720p?, big 4K crop,...) will actually force him to push his creativity.
Most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. It goes as far as this to defend Canon.
The fact is, pro or not pro, reliability or not, usability or not, those specs are unacceptable. Using a 2y old sensor is not acceptable especially when it was far behind the competition 2y ago.
1.7x crop is not acceptable, no one does that. In all interviews Canon answer they could not do no crop. Well every manufacturer on the planet can except them. 3y old FF camera can do 120p in FHD but Canon say they could not with the EOS R. This is a joke, people should buy 0 EOS R to shake this freaking company and make them think about releasing something decent.
Ok I understand, they have other advantages like ergonomics and so on. This does not and cannot justify the above. They do not need 4K120P RAW sure, just DECENT spec. Even if they have the lowest spec of the competition. But staying 5 years behind is so ridiculous.
Stop defending what can't be.

wolf33d reacted to Robert Collins in DJI Mavic Pro II
I have always found this guy very reliable when it comes to Mavic videos, so I think this one is worth a look....
Word of caution: He is flogging some neat video noise profiles and some D Log LUTs for the Mavic 2, so if you find that sort of thing irritating in youtube videos, it is best avoided...

wolf33d got a reaction from Inazuma in Zeiss ZX1
This is what I am talking about. When I say this japanese industry does not innovate at all.
Bigger screen, ssd, integrated lightroom and direct share. This should be in our mirrorless cameras for 2 years.
No they will keep the same button layout and design and screen as 10y ago.
This camera will be probably niche and expensive, but bravo Zeiss.

THIS + why DFD AF when they know it's not as good as DPAF in video?
Please throw shit on Canon on my behalf.

wolf33d got a reaction from graphicnatured in GoPro Hero 7 with Hypersmooth stabilization
Cool, thanks for reporting.
Ordered mine via their $100 off when you trade in an old camera. I literally bough a $10 10 year old compact camera, sent it (prepaid label) to GoPro and I am getting it for $299. This rocks.

wolf33d got a reaction from OliKMIA in DJI Mavic Pro II
Cool. @OliKMIA are you able to use the LUT they uploaded in their "download" page for the Mavic 2 Pro ? With color final on FCPX, it says the lut file has an error.

wolf33d got a reaction from Emanuel in DJI Mavic Pro II
Just because you said something positive about me I did it ; It's 0.85KG on the scale . @Emanuel
BTW no one speaks about this on the web but did you notice ???
Price rise on DJI.com, in US and also Europe. 50$ more for the drone, 60$ more the fly more pack, ND filters, batteries, everything is more expensive. I thought about Trump taxes at first but since the rise also happens in EUR I do not know... Anyway happy I got it for the previous price.
Very surprising still.

wolf33d got a reaction from Lenscamera in Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
Panasonic and Sigma ones will be normal priced. Just the Leica will be expensive.
Anyway, 2019 is gonna be exciting. We know at least 1 FF mirrorless will be 4K60fps now. Let’s see the A7SIII

wolf33d got a reaction from Robert Collins in DJI Mavic Pro II
Worst bullish I have seen in a long time. I liked this guy videos, but now I will be more carefull. T
- First of all, the sharpness on the MP2 should be turned to +1 because they have turned down the digital sharpness compared to previous drone.
- Secondly, the guy uses AF which is known to suck. Just go MF and click on infinity symbol and all your footages will look sharp and no focus issue. Someone tells him?
- Third and MOST important: the diffraction on the MP2 is enormous past F5.6. Best sharpness is achieved at 2.8, and best corner sharpness at F/4. Sweet overall spot is F/4. Shoot in either manual either aperture priority and always between 2.8 and F4. I am sure the aperture was higher in his shot.
Do the 3 steps above, re-compare, and the guy will order again the Mavic. When you put out videos like this for the world and you are popular you should do the work properly.
Picture from the Pro 2 from this weekend. Shot in JPG.

BS clickbait. Of course there is no quality improvement on a basic image between normal and log. The point of log is not better quality, the point is being able to grade the way you want and not fall appart thanks to 10 bit.
Ask the guy to take a difficult scene with sun, and do a heavy grade in both and we will see....
If you do not need to grade the footage there is no point in shooting log indeed.

wolf33d got a reaction from webrunner5 in GoPro Hero 7 with Hypersmooth stabilization
What model have you ? I had the exact same view for all my gopros except the 6. Very pleased when I watch the footage. Very usable and as always as you say you use it when no other tool will do.
I mean what else am I gonna use for a situation like this from yesterday, a GH5 strapped on my chest?
-
wolf33d got a reaction from kye in Is the 1DX2 still worth getting?
Absolutely not. In a few days Panasonic will announce 2 4k60p FF camera.
A7S III will have 4K60p too.
I would not spend 6K on an 1.5Kg 2 years old camera with 1.3 crop when better lighter and cheaper is coming.
AT LEAST wait for the announcements and rent a camera if you need until then.

When Canon gives you 1080P EIS that looks as awful as it gets, GoPro gives you H.265 4K60P with a level of electronic stab never seen before. In fact I would prefer to have this stab in my FF versus Sony/Nikon IBIS, let alone Canon IS.
BTW I have the Hero 6, and the stab was very very good but this one is again another league.
Well done.
