Nice shots, I would see if theres a way to colour correct the opening shots to change the pink lipstick to something a bit more natural looking though, I found it a little offputting

Panasonic GH4 vs Sony A7S compared - who wins the 4K battle on paper?

i suspect the combination of lens/bokeh, colour grade and nice back lighting is whats most apealing to your visual sense rather than the camera itself.. -
Surprise! Sony Alpha A6000 video mode huge improvement

How about a one shooter interview with eye tracking autofocus, lets you shoot with a shallower dof, and concentrate on the interview instead of the camera.. Touchscreen AF / Tracking also very nice for run and gun! -
maybe its switching to the EVF automatically as something is moving near the eye sensor? you can switch that off in the menu if so..

I loved the Helios 44 on a APSC but was a bit dissapointed to see a lot of the 'swirliness' cropped out on m43.. If you like swirls and centre sharpness theres some good sharp C mount lenses, including 'SLR Magic' modified versions, the 35mm f1.7 is great (but the original C mount if you know which one might be even cheaper)

Canon say: "We need to respond to calls for DSLR video quality increase"

except if youre serious about photography youll want to have control over all the different elements including having motion blur or not for effect, as mentioned by many, certainly possible but not ideal -
How about a resource or just a simple listing that could be used by everybody? Where people could contact artists with a proposal for either commercial or personal work..

hmm, possible at a push i guess, personally I would never think about offering both pro stills and video on the same job though.. one would always be compromised -

unless the camera and subject is completely static isnt it kind of impossible to get a sharp picture with a 180 shutter? -

I think this is now recognisable to most people as the HDSLR look :)

Hands-on preview of the powerful 4K shooting Panasonic GH4!

i think youre looking at green feathers on top of other green feathers at a different angle, maybe a touch of aliasing paranoia?! -
Thanks! I think im gonna like it a lot, I ordered the 1/8 and if all is good will probably pick up the 1/4 at some stage later..
-
I could imagine that andy with the 1 or 1/2, looking here I was thinking even the 1/8 might be just enough to bring the 12-35 in line with other older manual lenses, was hoping to find one that I could just leave on and forget about! Then again maybe the ultracontrast might be more neutral and a better choice..?
-
thanks, im looking at either an ultra contrast or pro mist from tiffen to try out, Im just wondering if used on a zoom, do you notice any strange effect between wide and long, people seem to suggest using stronger filters for wides than long?
-
Shooting with a GH3, Im finding Im using the 12-35mm a lot for convenience but am always a little disappointed with the over contrasty look of modern (panasonic/nikon/canon) lenses.. I wonder if what many people really miss for video shooting is a good modern lens with AF and stabilisation but made in an old fashioned way, more flare and less contrast, would this not also help us with the dynamic range in the scene that gets recorded by the sensor? Anyway, as an alternative I was wondering has anyone experimented with low contrast filters? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Contrast-Control/ci/159/N/4026728339

Was there any mention about SD card requirements? Is it necessary to use the mini P2 or whatever theyre called cards from Panasonic? -
low light performance : GH3 comparable to Canon T3i ?
animan replied to Pascal Garnier's topic in Cameras
noise is pleasant in high isos in the 'g's from my experience but the dynamic range is crushed terribly, personally (on the GH3 at least) I think over 800 is too ugly to use.. -
Thanks Andy, just came across this post while researching further, seems the SLR Magic may be worth the extra, its still cheap in any case.. Cheers http://www.lensporn.net/2011/12/slr-magic-update-i-was-partly-wrong.html

Yep, i love the swirls, I'm enjoying the 35mm a lot and think I will pick up the 26mm, I think theyre basically rebuilt or rebranded C-mount lenses?
-
Any experience with the 26mm Toy Lens from SLR Magic?

Surprise! New Sony RX10 sensor has 5K full pixel readout

dynamic range, especially midtones still looking kind of mushy (im not sure is it in fact a DR issue or more about the codec how the colours are all somehow compressed into one shade?) -
Detailed Panasonic GH4 rumoured specs - 10bit 4:2:2 and 4K video
animan replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
the days of not having a perfect camera that can give unlimited (relatively) DR, insane resolution, great ergonomics and functionality in an affordable little package are clearly very much numbered.. so whatever we want to nitpick about, clearly we'll all have what we want soon, in the meantime, so many BRILLIANT almost perfect options.. no reason to complain, be patient if you don't want whats there already, but keep some perspective, look at what the choice was just 5 years ago! soon we can get back to talking about content.. (or tripods, lenses, audio stuff and all the other nerdy gear fetishes) -
Badly shot video but looking promising, aliasing/moire definitely minimal, DR in the shots that arent blown out looks good, lowlight looks impressive, rolling shutter hard to tell but looks not bad.. I love Nikon colours! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGRSialVjY0
