  1. For me, this is some of the nicest looking NX1 footage I've seen. The person who took the video said: "Today I found myself in the middle of a very quiet and cold Stockholm with the NX1 and my ”new” Zeiss Jena 35mm f2.8. This is recorded in 4K at 24p. The camera produces very nice colors on its own so I nearly set the contrast, lifted shadows and dampened the ”punch” a bit."
  2. For me, I have no interest in buying a lens that is the full frame equivalent of f7.6 to f15.2 in terms of depth of field. Having said that, I'm sure people will be able to produce beautiful footage with it. But I'm not gonna limit myself with a lens like that.
  3. I get the feeling Canon said, "Let's come up with as unappealing a lens as we can get away with for this camera which will still allow us to sell plenty of them and won't impact the sales of the far more expensive cinema cameras." Sony managed a constant f2.8 with the RX10- at the very least Canon should have done that.
  4. It's 1". 2.7 times crop. So 24mm to 240mm.
  5. I can at least sort of understand why Andrew and other fans of the show care- something they've enjoyed for years is being taken from them. But the people condemning Andrew as some sort of homophobe/sexist/racist because of this, it strikes me as being ridiculous. Just because someone disagrees with you is no reason to demonize them. Andrew has come to the defense of the host of a show you don't even watch, so why do you really even give a shit? You'd think this is the great social justice issue of our time the way some of you are carrying on. Remember, we're talking about a tv show about cars. Just because I might disagree with Andrew on this issue doesn't mean I have to disregard everything else he says. This sort of demand for purity, that if someone doesn't 100% agree with you they're a terrible person and nothing they say is worth a shit, it's fucking nuts and a dangerous mindset.
  6. Look how small it is- I think it's gonna have a 1" sensor. I think it could be interesting, depending on the lens and price.
  7. I think Clarkson will gain from this and make far more money than he'd ever make working for the BBC while the BBC is going to lose a ton of money. As far as them firing him, doesn't bother me and he probably deserved it. Never watched the show and never even heard of this guy until Andrew posted about him.
  8. Any rumors on what the AF200 is expected to cost? Nevermind, just saw where it's expected to be $3,000-4,000. If those specs turn out to be anywhere close to accurate this will be a remarkable camera and a great value.
  9. "Overwhelmingly, the various models created by Canon were the most popular, however both RED and ALEXA cameras had a decent showing. All the films were shot on digital at some point, with some capitalizing on the Apple technology in their pockets. iPhones weren't used exclusively, like on the production of "Tangerine," which premiered at Sundance in January, but both "A Woman Like Me" and "I Dream Too Much" made use of the jack-of-all-trades cell phone. Check out the specific models below, arranged in alphabetical order. Please note that some films used multiple cameras, hence the repeats." http://www.indiewire.com/article/here-are-the-cameras-used-by-the-2015-sxsw-filmmakers-20150321?utm_content=bufferd3052&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
  10. Looking up "XC10", what I'm seeing doesn't sound that exciting to me. A fixed lens 1" sensor that is targeting the Sony PXW-X70? For me, a 1" sensor could be interesting if the fixed lens is fast, but if the lens is like what's found on the Sony, not at all interested. Of course it's all just rumors so who knows. http://www.dailycameranews.com/2014/12/canon-xc10-specs-leaked-online/
  11. Very little info except for the body type, it'll be a fixed lens, and will be able to do 4k. No sensor size info or lens specs unfortunately. "As it turns out, the lens is fixed and the camera will share the same shape as the Canon EOS C100 II, just smaller. This will be a 4K product and probably geared towards drones, though we don’t now how much “smaller” it will be compared to the EOS C100 Mark II." http://www.canonrumors.com/2015/03/canon-and-nab-2015-in-april-cr3/
  12. I'd also consider the Nikon 5300. Love the Nikon look straight out of the camera and you have a fantastic choice of lenses. And I second the RX10 as being a great all in one solution.
  13. If you're willing to buy used and can afford it I'd get the C100 with the dual pixel autofocus upgrade. Check out News Shooter to see how helpful the dual pixel autofocus can be for a crew of one. If the C100 is too much money I'd get the 70d.with the 24mm STM, the rumored 50mm 1.8 STM (rumored to be announced next month), and the 85mm 1.8. Those three lenses will probably set you back about $600 if you get the 85 and 24 used. Or just get the 70d kit with the 18-135 STM lens, which will give you more range and image stabilization. The only way I would even consider a Canon DSLR is if it had dual pixel autofocus, otherwise the other companies are way more attractive. If the NX1 is too much money get a GH3. Whatever you get, make sure you consider what lenses you're gonna need and if the lenses will need image stabilization.
  14. From the DP Review: "Overall, while it's not a class-leading video camera, its video quality is competitive for its class and its excellent stabilization makes it easier than most to get the best out of."
  15. Awesome. And that guy has a great voice. Can you talk about the lighting you used/set up. Any other behind the scenes info.
  16. That silver xt1 sure is a good looking camera. Shame about the video.
  17. The NX1 is good, but not Dual Pixel Autofocus good. At least that's the opinion I come away with after looking at vids and reading reviews.
  18. Ha! Based on what Inquisitive said about preferring the EM5 image. But in all honesty, was just needling you. I apologize. Gonna be hilarious if the image on the right is the GH2 though.
  19. It would appear the EM5 ii is better than the GH2. I guess that amazing and incredibly useful 5 axis IBIS doesn't degrade the image after all.
  20. Just in regards to using autofocus for video of course. If none are as good, which ones are closest?
