  1. Both DP Review and The Camera Store (in their vid about the EM5ii on YouTube) say the improved Olympus 5 axis IBIS is good for 5 stops of stabilization. There's a comparison between the new 5 axis and the Panasonic 12-35 2.8 on YouTube that I posted in another thread. Simply put, the Olympus stabilization is incredible. And every old lens you put on the camera will be able to take advantage of it. I fully expect most people on here would go for the GH4 but I personally would rather have the EM5ii. That stabilization is gonna be so useful. Here's The Camera Store review: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=0uQKYgQaNHQ
  2. Really impressed with these recent firmware updates from Samsung.
  3. If it was me, I'd go for the EM5ii. But if stills are important to you maybe stick with the EM1?
  4. Ed, I've heard the Samsung stabilization is one of the best. How much better do you think it is that Panasonics? Check out this comparison between the EM5ii and the GH4 with the 12-35, especially the second half of the test. The Olympus really is incredible. I'm blown away. And this will be usable with any lens- even vintage lenses will suddenly be stabilized. I think the autofocus will be a big letdown though, at least compared to the NX1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q75B8GNdUMk&feature=youtu.be
  5. I don't know why the rest of his comment is invisible. Just click on the link I added.
  6. This is what Samuel H, who I tend to trust when it comes to DR, says later on in that thread:
  7. How is the autofocus on the EM5ii expected to compare to others- is the NX1 considered the best? The stabilization for the EM5ii looks to be extraordinary- testers are raving about it.
  8. Would the upcoming SLR Magic anamorphic adapter work with the LX100 or is the adapter too big/heavy for that lens?
  9. Looks like the release date will be middle to late November.
  10. I got the feeling the firmware might need some tweaks based on some of the comments from Photokina. This could be the camera that puts Samsung on the map. The last thing Samsung needs to do is put such an important camera in the hands of reviewers and have it be buggy.
  11. Based on the smiley face I'm guessing that it obviously won't work on an LX100 but why not? Apologize if this is a basic question but I know next to nothing about anamorphics.
  12. I agree some of this stuff sounds too good to be true and I'm skeptical. And I have a bad feeling the camera is going to be buggy to begin with. One thing about Samsung, they don't have a high end video segment to protect like Canon does. So maybe in this and future cameras they are going to give videographers as much as they can- it's more a matter of them figuring out what the video community wants. It looks like they finally have a camera that can make some waves- really hope they get it into the hands of prominent reviewers, especially those who are focused on video.
  13. The current specs are very impressive but it sounds like this camera has a ton of untapped potential. Really hoping there are no serious issues with it and Samsung gets it into the hands of prominent video sites.
  14. This camera looks ridiculously impressive. Wish they would get sample copies in the hands of prominent video bloggers like Andrew so we could see what this thing is really capable of. Interested to see if Samsung has finally made a camera that the video community can legitimately be excited about.
  15. I much prefer the Samsung lens lineup. I find the lenses far more appealing and think they tend to be a better value. And at least up until recently there were occasional sales on the lenses with serious discounts that would make them very affordable. Plus I think most or all of the Samyang/Rokinon lenses are available for Samsung. I think the Sony bodies are often good value, but the Sony E mount lenses, not so much.
  16. I think Samsung has delivered in a big way. Incredibly impressed.
  17. Exciting specs. Wonder what the price will be. B & H has the 12-35 f2.8 on backorder and listed at $997.99. This lens will be faster and offer a little more reach. If they price it at or around $1,000 you'd think the 12-35 sales would dry up overnight. Still, I'm gonna guess $1,199 retail, assuming those specs are correct.
  18. Thanks for such an informative post thaigor. Beautiful footage. Did you go to film school in Thailand?
  19. Cool concept. Wonder how effective, and expensive, it'll end up being. http://www.newsshooter.com/2014/09/05/steadxp-is-this-small-box-the-future-of-camera-motion-stabilisation/
  20. I don't think you'll see a 4/3 sensor and fixed 24-90mm f2-2.8 zoom. The 12-35mm f2.8 costs around $1,000 and this lens would be faster and offer more reach? I'd be happy with a 24-90mm f2.8-4. Hope it has both a mic/headphone jack.
