I wonder why none of them are offering things like raw though? I think BM is a much smaller company than all three of them and look at what they were able to do early on. Is it a lack of vision, a lack of resources...hadn't considered that Sony might force those buying from them to cripple their video.
-
What sorts of things could they realistically do to improve the usefulness of their video? And why aren't they doing these things, given they don't need to worry about protecting higher end video cameras.

Don't Nikon and Olympus do this in camera? Pretty sure Nikon does.

The only movie that has legitimately terrified me is The Exorcist. I saw it as a kid and it truly left me traumatized. In a way, it was a good thing. Every horror movie since then seems like child's play. I still love em though. And I have difficulty even looking at stills from The Exorcist, even to this day it messes me up. Anyway, thanks to the OP. This is inspiring stuff.

That's it! Thanks. It doesn't interest you?

There is, or at least was, an alternative to the second shooter that I remember seeing a vid of a couple years ago and am drawing a blank on who made it. It wasn't Zacuto but someone well known like that made it. It looked super easy to set up and was on a curved track. Anyone know what I'm thinking of? Remember thinking it would be great for interviews.

Watching this, I'm starting to feel much more excited about this camera and future Fuji cameras. They seem to be taking video seriously. Of course it could just be propaganda and the video will be a total bust, but I want to see what this camera can do with 4:2:2 F-Log. They sound determined to get it right.

New m43 rumor about the EM1 mkii having 4k and while it will not have global shutter, Olympus worked very hard to reduce rolling shutter. Maybe a sign that Olympus is gonna get serious about video with this one?
-
Yeah, my comment was probably overly harsh. The image looks good, this camera is clearly a big step forward for Fuji. And I really want to see what they can do with log. That is exciting. I just suddenly find film much more appealing. Not sure why. But the image seems much more pleasing to me.

DP Review posted some footage shot with a couple of the film simulations and it looked very videoy to me. Maybe it's because I had just watched a video where Matias included some 16mm footage he shot or recently watched this interview with Ed Lachman but you know, in my mind film just blows away anything, especially at the lower end. Anyway, not particularly impressed with the video out of this camera. It's not that it looks bad, but none of the cameras at this level look particularly good. http://youtu.be/qHKkfQxieM4 Ed Lachman on shooting Carol: We opted to shoot in 16mm. We wanted to reference the photographic representation of a different era. They can recreate grain digitally now, but it's pixel-fixated. It doesn't have this anthropomorphic quality in which the grain structure in each frame is changing. The actual physical grain of film adds another expressive layer that is impacting the surface of the characters' emotional being. It has to do with how film captures movement and exposure in the frame - finer grain for highlights and larger grain for lower light areas - that gives a certain emotionality to the image that feels more human. I really believe with "Carol" that people would feel something different than if I had shot it digitally. The other important thing for me with film over the digital is the way color is portrayed. For example, if I have a cool window and warmer lights inside in the digital world they don't mix the way they do in film. With film grain, there's a crossover and contamination between warm and cool colors that I don't find digitally. Digital lacks a sense of depth in color separation the way it does in film. In film, there's these three layers, R,G,B. For me, it's almost like an etching where the light is eating into the negative when it's developed, and even though it is microscopic, it gives a depth to the image that I always feel is lacking digitally.

Holy shit, is this real? I'm stunned. I feel terrible for you and the other victims. Just read Ebrahim's response and I suspect he's also a victim in this. Feel bad for him as well. I don't know what happened, but Ebrahim has always struck me as a very reputable guy, someone with integrity who is also incredibly helpful. So I feel bad for him as well. This whole situation just sucks. Hate it for all you guys.

There's a guy over on dvxuser who sells Canons and said a week or so ago that a new model won't be announced anytime soon. Guess we'll see.

For those who use dual pixel autofocus in video, are there any companies that have something almost as good or is it just head and shoulders above what everyone else is doing?

Sony A6300 review (rolling) - Striking image but nagging issues

I was wondering how you did the dream sequence. Thought it was fantastic. Loved the colors. A nice contrast between the waking life and dream life. -
I wish Panasonic would start offering the 25mm as the kIt lens in the US. It used to be a fast 50mm would be the cheap kit lens and a zoom would be in the expensive kit. Now, in the US at least, we can't even get a prime kit, though Sigma is changing that with the 35mm 1.4 as the kit lens with the Quattro (and pretty cheap too).

What about rolling shutter, which cmos cameras handle it best in your opinion?

I read that you're pretty much gonna have to use the grip if you wanna do video and with three batteries it'll give you as much time as a GH4 with one battery. Anyway, with the power booster grip you're looking at about $2,000 grand. Seems like a very tough sell in this market, especially for a company that has not been known for their video up till now.
-
Some of you really think this will be better for video than a GH5? I respect that everyone has their own needs, but I still find that surprising.
-
Unbelievable. I've heard some bad things about their cameras but your experiences with them are incredible. You need to stay away from those cameras. All of them.

I just checked and the C100 was announced August 29, 2012 and the C100ii was announced October 22, 2014 so it certainly seems possible.
-
Why don't you wanna say what you think they might announce?

I love how Gunpowder spotted that other French bulldog and was having none of it. LOL! So cute. Is she aggressive or protective of you around other dogs?

Which would you rather have? 1DC/5Dmkiii/A7sii/Other

I'd save my money and wait and see what the 5D iv and the next Nikon full frame bring. -
