  1. Cheers! <Aybe you want to share it :D?
  2. Hey guys, any specific LUT for the aforementioned Picture Profile/Setting. The Slog 2 one in Lumetri looks horrible
  3. Quick question. Is anyone getting noisy shadows with these recommended settings. I did a quick check as I have a shoot tomorrow and using the settings on an A7s2 I can see a lot of noise in the viewfinder and monitor. Haven't had the time to check the stuff on a computer properly but just wanted to put this out there.
  4. Wait..this has a socket to plug in a mic?
  5. Have used the OSMO with the X3 so can just tell you about the operational bit and not the image quality. It's pretty much good to go out of the box. Of course it's best you customize the settings like the the sensitivity/deadband etc as per your liking. It's worked better with iPhones than android devices with us, but did crash a lot in 4K (DCI not UHD). I believe a firmware upgrade has increased the reliability and battery life. IT works well for following, orbiting and panning. The panning does feel "electronic" but it's good. Mind you it's quite light so keeping your horizon level can be a bit of a challenge at times. I think the z-axis arm should solve this.
  6. One would usually create proxy files (lower res and bitrate than original or editable codec) as a lot of systems earlier on couldn't handle big files. You probably still need to while shooting RAW. Creating proxies do take up additional space! When you edit proxies you don't edit the original media. The proxies proveide a reference to the original media which you reconnect/relink before your final export, grading etc.
  7. Unless it's a fast RAID setup the SSD will always provide better read/write speed. Think of it as faster scrubbing, loading of files etc. Should decrease render/export times too.
  8. Does it have USB 3.0 support? Maybe invest 200-300 USD on an external SSD for media
  9. The OSMO has a lot of issues. Seems to have gotten better over time. Things like 4K would crash it a lot. We ended up using it on 1080p. It would crash most Android devices too.. And sometimes the stuttering was really really bad.
  10. I really wonder why DJI hasn't got one out as yet (can't count the OSMO as you have to use the X3 or X5)
  11. I don't understand why none of these one handed ones have the motor on the right so you can flip out the screens.
  12. Hmm...I guess I'll pass. Unless a firmware update fixes this issue. I usually shoot in warm weather
  13. My bad.. I thought they were AF-D zooms. At least the 80-200 which is recommended is not the AF-S version.
  14. Hmm. I thought there was a lotta love for the Nikon "Bourne" Zooms.
  15. Well sadly, video. I shoot weddings, events, low end corporate stuff where I don't necessarily rent gear. Even when I do it's usually an A7s or A7s II so I even though the new Panasonic GX8x looks tasty the A6300 should match well with the other Sonys. 4K is definitely important. (More for cropping in than delivery). This will also serve as a back-up to the Sony bodies that I rent. Also since my trusty 600D also stops recording occasionally with magic lantern, I would prefer something a bit reliable. Love the "Canon" colours but I've started enjoying the Sony's too. In my line of work people don't care about colour accuracy that much. Not too bothered about rolling shutter.
  16. Hypothetical question. If this camera didn't have these overheating issues would you still advise against it or recommend it?
  17. That's why I try and just correct the skin tones as much as possible.
  18. When I screw up the exposure big time (under) and then need to boost it in post I rely on Neat Video. Definitely not the best way to do it. As Ebrahim says becomes super plasticky. In some cases it's very useful. Totally depends from situation to situation.

Andy Lee and other owners of the Nikon "Bourne" lenses. How well does the Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 match with the 28-70 and 80-200? Also, is the bourse lens the 80-200 AF-D or 80-200 AF-S. TIA
  21. Can this be powered by a USB power bank?
  22. One of the reasons I've struggled so much with this. Being physically unfit takes a larger toll than it does for most others. Then back to bad habits, sodas, junk. One of the reasons I've decided to get things in order this year. I love the art and science of filmmaking, but I love myself more.
  23. I have the Sirui P204. It's great. Super sturdy and the build quality is great. It replaced a Benro A49T Monopod which in comparison is pooh. Sometimes I'm glad a beautiful blonde left it in a cab in Tokyo.
  24. I hope you are going to use lights/modifiers if you aren't using natural (day) light. It's key to get a better look no matter what one says.
