So we want the lovechild of the A7s and the 1Dc. priced at $3500
-
In my extremely limited experience with the A7s (for video), I've noticed that the A7s works brilliantly only if you have the white balance dialled in to the T. Tungsten seems to turn the skin green if unlucky and yellowish if lucky. With Canon the C100 and C300 do have a green tone with Tungsten too. Quite frustrating actually with darker skin. My biggest gripe with with the A7s though is the Blue Flouro Puke that happens with the Highlights clipping at certain white balances.

Do specifications mean anything regarding cameras' performance? A research.

A7S movie record button. nuff said. Seems like everyone want's that 24 stop DR camera which can do 8K at 250 fps. Will be fun watching cats and leaves then. @Ebrahim Saadawi no disrespect sir but when do you find time to shoot if you manage to spend so much time typing and debating on forums. -
I should have been more specific. It should be fine for normal editing, but the minute you start using things like After Effects, more video streams, etc it will slow down. I personally feel spending $4500 odd on an iMac ridiculous for the performance one gets but its sooo pretty. Also, that thing gets hot and noisy as it has smallish fans. I don't want to turn this into a MAC vs PC debate, but in $4500 you can build a super souped up rig that will lap up all those 4K files without breaking a sweat. We focus a lot on cameras, lenses, etc but a majority of our time is spent on post production so one might as well invest well there.

Buy a proper tripod with a good head. Buy a B Cam - Sony A7s or a pre-owned C100 (Get rid of the existing bodies) Buy a Odyssey 7Q+ . It comes bundled with 512gb of media. Start building a set of lenses. This way on smaller projects you don't need to rely on rentals. Buy the new Ronin-M Buy a Mac Pro (personally wouldn't do this but since your friend doesn't want a PC let him burn some cash on a Mac) IMHO iMac's aren't cut out for serious post work once the going get's tough.

AF100 successor in 3-4K with lowlight performance better than the GH4 More gimbals like the Nebula 4000 and the Pilotfly H1 with capacity upto 3lbs under $1000. Ability to seamlessly pan/tilt like on the Ronin. C100 competitor from Sony (never gonna happen though)

+1 for the D750 if you are already invested in Nikon glass. It's superb for stills and a more than capable video camera. You should still be able to get a decent price for the D600 though you should have traded it in for a D610 when you could.

Won't you be spending a lot more to do that?

What's The Best Camera For Shooting A Low Budget Movie?
dafreaking replied to fuzzynormal's topic in Cameras
Err...are you shooting a sex tape? -
So similar question as the OP. Shooting a wedding with a mix of A7S and 5Dmk3. While I don't need them to match 100%, getting them close is a requirement. The 5d will use a 70-200 and used mainly for tighter shots due to it's softness. The A7S will primarily use a 16-35mm and 24-70mm (2 bodies, both with metabones adaptors) I would prefer not shooing in Slog2 due to the extra time required in post and relative inexperience while grading. So, anyone who owns both, what would be good picture setting to use on both to make it easier to match them in post? Thanks

Medicinal product and whisky in a short: legal problems?
dafreaking replied to JazzBox's topic in Cameras
You know what. It totally depends. Strictly speaking, you would need permission. If it's a well known brand (medicine) and you are showing it in bad light then they could object. Also depends on which country you are in and where you intend to show the short. -
What's the best method for checking HDDs before a shoot?
dafreaking replied to dafreaking's topic in Cameras
True! Though normally I wouldn't worry so much, I'm investing a sizeable amount of my savings and would like to make sure everything is fine. -
So I've just purchased 2 external HDD's which will be used for copying data over on a shoot. What's the best method for checking the HDDs are running absolutely fine and all the sectors are in order. A lot of Google searches recommend performing a secure wipe. Is this the best way? TIA
