All music at soundimage.org is now free for commercial use
dafreaking replied to Eric Matyas's topic in Cameras
Hey Eric, Maybe you could add a few longer pieces when you have time. Love your stuff and this initiative you have undertaken... -
Great stuff man! I found some of the jumpy editing a little too distracting but on the whole very very nicely executed.

Jeez thanks guys. A few points that I was discussing with a friend of mine, thought I'd post them for further insight by me into my film before, during and after making it.

This video is AMAZING! (yes it deserves caps) as far as creativity and execution is concerned. Just wow! Very well planned. It doesn't matter even if they shot this with an iPhone. People dissing it's creativity need a reality check. Now as far as pimping it as being awesome because it was shot on the GH4 is concerned. From the BTS it looks like it could have been done with any camera, BUT the GH4 probably had the weight advantage and the electronic look that they desired. Also that subspace warp type of effect is the only thing visually that I found distracting. (The rolling shutter, though noticeable, isn't their throughout)

Blackmagic to release new 'unified' firmware update for all cameras
dafreaking replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I believe it's similar to what FLAC or Apple LossLess does for audio. Smaller filesize without any loss in visual quality. So you get the full benefits of RAW with a smaller size. Correct me if wrong.. -
Would you say its better than recording 4K on SD cards and converting to 1080p in post?
-
For a camera that is releasing in a few weeks there are surprisingly few test shoots (as compared to the number the GH4 had). I guess within a months time you'll get to know the strengths and the weaknesses. Even the staunchest GH4 supporters though I think will find the low-light and dynamic range abilities of it will be better than the GH4.
-
Pardon me...didn't realize you wanted to shoot stills too...
-
Hypothetically speaking. If it was available for approximately $5500, which is also the price for the C100, which of the two would you buy then? Seeing as one of your main projects is wedding films.
-
Also some of the best 3D I've scene, and normally I hate 3D.
-
At what price would you buy the 1DC?
-
GH4 is spoiling everyone rotten with an amazing feature set in such a low price. :D
-
Not really. They will milk the sales of their existing products as much as they can. And, who can blame them? The CX00 line probably still outsells the GH line even though there is a huge price difference. The perfect camera (for me) would be a C100 with a better viewfinder and at minimum 1080p60.

The EOSHD Panasonic GH4 Shooter's Guide - Now Available

Or if you don't want to copy over the attributes select all clips in the timeline, right click and re check "scale to framesize" -
No. Just because it's smaller it doesn't necessarily become cheaper or more expensive. All lav mics are more or less the same size. The Azden EX-503 is a great budget wired mic. If paired with an Azden system http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/3656-REG/Azden_WLX_PRO_WLX_Pro_Wireless_Lavalier.html it provides a decent solution, but not reliable. The Sennheiser is way more reliable (doesn't lose connection easily, etc)

The trick seems to be finding the correct version it seems.
-
Andy, is the contrast on the Tokina good? I read that it is not so great..
-
The I find the Tamron has a very difficult focus ring to work with, up to F5.6. You need to move it in nanometres to adjust it... What camera are you using it with?
-
@jonpais, It is expensive but it's the cheapest good wireless option. A better option is to Probably use a lav with a pocket recorder, but you lose monitoring capabilities.
-
The Sennheiser G3 is a good wireless Mic. Used a lot by the Budget crowd. It does eun around $600 though.
-
Err, So does commercial apply to stuff that could go on television too? If so, it's a bargain. And will these be single use or multi use (obviously with a limit to the uses). Still feel the price for use in Shorts as well as Documentaries should be less than commercial use. Amen!
-
Would wedding films also come under commercial work?
-
The prices are great, the only issue you could possibly face is the amount and variety of tracks you will need to have available to make it worth it for all in the end.

Vimeo to automatically mute videos with 'unlicensed' soundtracks
dafreaking replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Sounds great in theory, except sometimes more popular music adds that little extra zing to ones promotional videos. But does seem like the best workaround for now.
