Well, I'd be careful is they're using that image as the selling point. It looked familiar to me and that's because it has been around a while. Is it just me? But I can't seem to find my copy. I bought Andrew's guide to vintage lenses quite a few years back. In my opinion it was the best guide in this space that I'd seen. Is it not for sale anymore? Or am I just not looking in the right place? In any case, it should be on sale, and an updated version would be well received! Or are we all over vintage lenses?

See, I knew this would happen. About a month ago I bought an Osmo Pocket, which I'm really happy with, but now this comes along. I obviously wasn't paying attention to the rumour sites. Sigh ... I'll just stick with my first generation purchase.

Yes, I agree. A little more BTS stuff would be nice. It started of well but seemed to taper off. Don't mind some of the shorts he's producing, but a glimpse into the process would add to it.

Yep, I've said it elsewhere in these forums, but I love my battered GH3. I shoot with a GH5 mostly now (and a GX85), but always keep the GH3 close. And yeah, there is something really appealing about its black and white.

Panasonic GH3. More than good enough. I use a GH5 now for work, but I still can't bring myself to sell the GH3 (not that anyone would buy it). Great HD, battery life still solid, built like a tank. Paired with my Voigtlander 25mm (itself battered and scratched to shit) it has a special voodoo.

Yeah, this is a good set up, but it's much better with a Metabones Speedbooster.

corporate / education / some narrative My dream is to keep it all in one backpack. (It never works out that way, but I see no reason why it shouldn't) So ... (gear I have) GH5, Voigtlander 25mm, Lumix 15mm, Lumix Nocticron 42.5. Zoom F4, rode NTG 3 (and cable and pole stuff) Any small, semi-decent tripod.

I've already posted Alex Proyas' Youtube channel in the Youtube channel thread, but I reckon this latest development deserves its own shout out. Will be very interesting to watch this unfold. It also seems apparent he's going to be talking a lot about cameras, Blackmagic in particular.

Slightly more extreme but can deliver interesting results (not in low light of course) is the SL:R Magic 8mm. It's dirt cheap at B & H.

Yes, my new F4 arrived today. I know it's been out a while but it still feels like a good option. For years now I've been using a Tascam DR60D. The damn thing has been worked to death and it has never let me down. I do feel a bit guilty upgrading. But still the F4 is like a Porshe coming out of the box compared to the Tascam. In any case, I always feel happier investing in sound gear for some reason.

Yep, like Mattias said, dog lovers and dogs rescuers. Research them. Send all the CEO's of those organisations a press release/free screener. Get them involved. You're in a niche area, so use that to your advantage. I don't mind your trailer. These guys did a great job in a (not so now) niche area.

No matter how old ... genius. I know the dynamic range is bad, and the green screen awful. Hell, the framing is all over the shop. But for me, the most disturbing thing is that witch in the background. That's seriously freaky shit.

Look, we can talk cameras and video as much as we like. But these guys, well ... I think there's something in this for all of us. God I hope they enter the $200 challenge.

I also really like the "dark" shots (like 1.44). We're always talking about dynamic range, and IQ etc etc, but sometimes it's all in the shadows. In the murky bits. Makes you look harder. Good stuff.

Just came across this post from Hal Hartley on Instagram. He's updating a bunch of his old films, including Surviving Desire. He included a screen shot of updating the colour of Surviving Desire on DaVinci Resolve. Of course, we know filmmakers all over the world use this stuff. Still, it's cool. And if you haven't seen any of Hartley's films, do yourself a favour.

I think Jasper should be in every thread. What are Jasper's views on the Blackmagic Pocket 4K? Does Jasper think the superior image from BM beats the functionality of the Panasonic mirrorless options?

Good choice. It's a great camera (as are all the cameras discussed in this thread). Just don't drop the bloody thing! That screen on the back is so exposed. Mine has a big crack across it. Totally my fault, but it still works. So all good.

That’s a tough question. IBIS and 4K on the GX85 are nice, but really when it comes to image quality there’s not a lot in it. For me the GH3 feels good in the hand.The buttons makes sense where they are. Battery lasts forever. I take both on every shoot, but if I had to take only one, it would be the GH3. I just know it won’t let me down. If you can pick up a GH3 for a couple of hundred bucks, you’ll really have nothing to regret.

I keep going to upgrade my GH3, but never do. It has been dropped, dragged along the footpath, rained on. Rubbery bits have fallen off and I’ve gaffer taped them back on, and still the damn thing keeps working for me. In terms of income vs camera cost ratio, I can’t complain. The thing is bullet proof. I’ve been looking at all the new releases, but 2nd hand GH3s are so cheap... 1080p is all I need, and that thing paired with my voigtlander 25mm is just heaven. I also have a GX85. Yeah, it’s okay, but I just know it won’t be around as long as the GH3.

It’s a bizarre little lens. Cheap any way you look at it. I’ve been using it on the GX85, makes the whole combo tiny. And I like the image I get. Not fast, but at f4 it’s not for low light stuff anyway. There seems to be no decent review out there that I can find, not from the usual suspects anyway. Which is a shame, because for a low budget kit this lens seems a no brainer.

Bugger. I just grabbed it for $129. What the hell is wrong with this lens? I like it so far. Maybe they’re running them out. But at that price ... come on Voightlander I want a 42.5 for $200.

Mine arrived. Hope yours did too. Only shot a few seconds with it so far (on a gx85) but I like the couple of clips I got. For the price I reckon it’s a bargain.
