I have the came TV nebula , brilliant, you have to put time in too both balance and learn basic technique (i think a lot of people posting forget that), and functioning weight is low (5D with big lens limit ) but really impressed, it really works. trick is to pick your camera configuration and stick with that, comes with a seperate remote control WTF!!!

Letus is really okay, dont undersatnd why people are criticising it so much just because someone hasnt shot bladerunner 2 on it, but to big for what i want to do, SLR magic really interesting but a different fish, generally im not sure now the 1.33x stretch with these two modern solutions is enough to justify all the extra work. Currently testing some classic 1.5x anamorphots. Selling the letus as we speak, probbaly the slr magic at a later point. no disrespect to either product. no one perfect camera no one perfect lens.

Works really great on the BMPCC but having problems on full frame 5D3 -
Its a huge but simple anamorphic block. You can rack focus through it to some extent. It s not fussy seems to work with most lenses including very fast canon 85mm and 50mm 1.2 Not a lot of character (but some) and works and works very close (5cm) without adding other secondary optical elements. Flares very little. Importantly it goes as wide as 35mm on full frame and of course superwide on smaller frames. Pretty expensive especially for non USA buyers. Variable ND filter could be problematic. My opnion is that its a very useful tool for Canon 5D shooters in particular, adding about 25 percent more information when trying to achieve anaomorphic aspect ratios and working with their exisiting high end canon glass. As of now a unique product.

FWIW Letus anamorphic adapter on a P65+.stills camera high rez still image. '>

Frankenstein!. wide angle For what its worth. BMPCC letus anamorphic without mattebox. Metabones speedbooster nikon 24mm with 4 step up rings. 1.6kg (needs a handle though) should theoretically go to around 21mm wide (real world)

yes focus is off, but thats probably me not adapter, bit unfair to the product was walking around in the rain, with a rain cover, at dusk without rig on a 50mm at 1.2 or 1.8 kind a asking for trouble, but i do have my own agenda. nice choice of frame by the way. The magic lantern 5D3 i think is incredible

Another very (very) rough test. Pulling focus (by hand) on the Letus anamorphic adapter. on a monopod. focusing Prime lens only, anamorphic fixed. 5D3 ML RAW with 50mm 1.2 at F4 Obviously not a very fair test 2 feet to 25 is extreme but gives the general idea what to expect. Also just received the 77mm filter to connect lens direct to adapter, absolutely essential. The adapter will now connect to lens and camera without Rails (reducing size) but its a lot weight, hand held is good but would probably damage lens over time on a tripod.
-
No worries.Burnet. Letus Anamorphic adapter operation. focus prime, focus adapter , precision focus prime. In practice its faster and simpler than it sounds. The adapter has a massive long throw focusing wheel which is moving part of the adapter nearly an inch back and forth. Also its not really like the other anamorphic adapters I've tested in the sense that once you are in generally area of focus (adapter) you can then rack focus with the prime only. important and to be clear the adapter does focus very close, closer than most of your primes, we were just testing macro capability which isn't really a fair test. From my (limited ) knowledge of current anamorphic systems the sharpness of our close image (without any extra diopters etc) sample is pretty impressive.

Thanks. My main interest is indeed increase image information that the anamorphic on dslr provides. ML on 5Dmrk3 also throws another element into question wether the 3x crop factor is better than using anamorphic, in respect to quantity of information .
-
No idea about any of that. Never used any other anamorphic system. just trying to give a bit of information back to forum. Reporting as I see it.
-
just processed RAW to video. results very good indeed. far better than initially thought. all working perfectly to just about 35 cm distance. 2 second full rez quicktime RAW ML 5D mrk3 100mm macro canon https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/89252080/letus_100mm_crop_stretch.mov.zip also adding to previous post ;this is what frame looks like without adapter , Canon glass YEAH!!.

Very CLOSE UP SAMPLE funny we were just asking ourseleve s same questions. Attached 100mm macro/close up shot through letus adapter. Its very good but would be sharper without the letus adpater. Letus does permit very close up with some loss in sharpness but macro not possible at least with configurtion we were trying) still no conclusive tests, but so far its great system, it seems to lack the character and soul of the true anamorphic lenses but this is a trade off against a system that works very straightforwardly; no dipoters etc. . s

Very rough test Anamorphic letus adpter Canon 5DMRK3, ML RAW, 3200 iso, film convert used tripod on dolly Sigma 35mm 1.8 , lenses 50mm at 1.2, , 100mm macro at 2.8 all wide open. Letus anamorphic adapter. very rough first tests. very low light full frame 35mm (Thanks JB) https://vimeo.com/85719835
