It's my 'around the house shot getter'. Wouldn't mind a successor with new sensor tech, articulated touchscreen & mic-in so it could become an actual 'daily driver' again.

And it features a 2.5mm mic-input. So, if the C-AF and image quality @ 1080p is any good... this could very well be the 2018's vlogger's go-to camera.

She's very self-concious about her skin condition, no need to harshly point it out like that. You're definitely right, that looks concerning. But it seems like it could be a post thing from removing noise, adding grain and weird adjustments.

I'd seriously consider a waterproof compact such as the Nikon Coolpix W300, Olympus TG-5 or Fujifilm FinePix XP130. The Olympus TG-870 starts at 21mm and has a flip-up screen for framing. If that's really not your thang. Don't go amature, Go Pro. Stay with the actioncam thing. The Hero3 is relatively old now, things have become a little better since. Indeed the YI 4K+ is a steal as well. SJCAM recently announced their SJ8 series, which is open for pre-order. The Pro runs the Ambarella H22 S85 chipset with SONY IMX377 sensor and uses a six-axis gyroscope for stabilization.

But the Leica '(3d) pops' nicely. The 35-100mm ain't bad either.

Yeah, that would be cool. People love to adapt the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8, but for many it's too cumbersome and kind of defeats the purpose of going with the more compact allowing ecosystem. Popular as well for the Samsung NX1 system was their S lens 16-50mm f/2-2.8. These are really the kind of lenses that are awesome! Now... Olympus has a good thing going for them with the f/2.8 PRO line-up. 7-14, 12-40 & 40-150mm. As Kisaha mentiones there's the nice 12-100mm f/4 PRO too. In turn Panasonic has the Lumix f/2.8 12-35 & 35-100mm and the Leica line-up of f/2.8-4 lenses. Apparently it is not that easy to create f/2.8 or faster zooms that are compact. There used to be one lens for 4/3 sensors... the Olympus M.Zuiko 14-35mm f/2.0 ED SWD. About the price of a kidney. Not compact either. Guess something we'd like to see... is just not in the stars.

But then everyone around just settles it by shouting 'Shame! Shame! Shame!'.

Spread the love, not the hate! Take the victories as they come knowing you can't win all the fights (and some aren't worth stepping in the ring for). The world is too big to make everyone happy, so whatever you do, do it for yourself and don't be bothered too much with what others think. Seen you and Albert Fast do great things with the new Olympus Pro f/1.2 optics and I appreciate the willingness to share your findings with us!

Too bad they've gotten a BMW S1000RR miniature and translated that to a Honda Fireblade. Felt like I was looking at the same curve over and over again as well. But nittpicking aside... awesome quality.

Yeah, the US launch price hasn't changed. But there are some unexplained discrepancies between countries. Tariffs are a hot item right now. Maybe gotta do with those.

That's just a language flag (feel free to change it to 'ru' for Russian or 'fr' for French, etc). It still clearly states the price referenced in 'US$' not 'CAN$' however. On the /ca/ page (I take it Canadian or something; reference is still USD though). Yeah, I've seen here in Europe differences as well. Apparently has to do with national taxes and how prices have to be shown online or something like it. In some countries it says '€1145', in others '1369€'.

Yeah, that's one thing great about the Veydras: the user-swappable mount. Funny Jon just ditched his 42.5 Nocti for the 45mm Oly... I'm actually getting the Leica now myself when I saw it going for under a 1000 bucks (EUR 941,16 to be exact; most places still sell it at 1279 or more!), what can I say? I'm a sucker for a good deal. The Oly plays in that ballpark as well. And I'm just not too eager to spend in the 4 digits on a single focal length lens (I made an exception for a zoom once and I'm still eyeballing the 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO set with teleconverter). But as it's a nice portrait stills lens, it's nice to have the AF & OIS I think. Never tried the Voigt. Did the ZY Optics/Zhongyi/Mitakon 42.5mm f/1.2 which also is all manual. Quite a bit more compact & light. Does mean it compromises a bit. The quality reminds a little bit of quirky Russian vintage lenses, so not necessarily in a bad way. In the early days I did use the Olympus 45mm f/1.8 quite a bit. And I found the Lumix 42.5mm f/1.7 OIS an interesting one as well. But you know, the Nocti has some legendary status and I've seen people pull off wicked things with it, so... for that good deal price worth to give it a go myself.

Hum, SLR Magic pulling a Veydra. Interesting they're restricting it to E-mount, though (although it does make the most sense if they're going for compact fullframe mirrorless). Yet, still... MFT you can adapt to E-mount, funny enough you'd expect the other way around was possible, but isn't. Means they're missing out on the whole GH/BMPCC market. Does make you think a combo line-up thereof and an A7III is about all the kit you'd need.

Used to order from Taobao/Tmall quite a bit. You'll need an agent/mediator (I did one time try myself, never really worked out). You might be used to associating HDR with photos and have been programmed to dislike that, as we all know that can be way overdone. HDR with video is nothing like that though, you should give it a fair chance. It's got little to do with extreme gone wrong photoshops... and more with actual high dynamic range, which is more about nuance than it's about something screamish.

Yeah, I think in a studio, at an operator's station or jib it's quite alright. But for the Lumix/BMPCC generation this isn't the thing you'd want to work with. It's modular, but not like the Kinefinity cameras or that CRAFT digital cinema camera that was doomed.
