You is legend, mate. Cheers for that!

I guess it's all about the journey...

Yes, but it's just another way to distinguish oneself from peasants that are using their smartphone or Canon G7X II. 'Look at that shallow depth of field, wow that's expensive and impressive gear, (s)he must be damn good being able to afford that'. I'd say camera movement, using sliders/stabilization/gimbals is another hint of appearing (not neceesarily being) 'next level'. Btw, I don't think Casey is selling out and allows manufacturers to force him to put out positive reviews (well, maybe Samsung a lil). I really do think that over time you just develop different wants and needs and having the oppertunity/means (btw he has cash enough to finance his gear, we've seen him breaking & purchasing gear a few times), to check out the new next thing, who of us wouldn't embrace that? Like I said before, trying out the A6500 for run'n'gun field schtuff he's run into issues looking for the next best thing. He uses the A7RII all rigged up in a Tilta cage with a SmallHD monitor facing him, a set-up for a studio, not so much on the street.
-
Which projector you've got? I have the https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/h1-immersive-home-theatre-with-harma-kardon-stereo , it's pretty bloody great for immersing yourself with a 'big screen' viewing at the comfort of your home (did hook up a Sony sound system, the H&K is great for music, not so much for movies/series).

Marques Brownlee (a tech reviewer) did a Casey Neistat studio tour a while ago, he indeed uses an A7RII as his fix set-up studio cam. An 80D as overhead cam at his work station. RX100 V as pocket cam (like for... plane bathrooms). iPhone for just always having it with him. GoPros perhaps. However... the main vlogging camera has for the longest while been a Canon 70D (on a Joby Gorillapod, with either Shure or RØDE video mics). Then switched to the 80D... then had the urge to go 4K and yes, up to recently he had been using the A6500. But... he hates not being able to see himself and that's exactly the problem if you have a microphone mounted on the hotshoe and no vari-angle side frontfacing screen... which made him have to mark the lens with a white marker/tipp-ex to make sure the lens is zoomed out and lined up at that setting. Then you have the nauseating rolling shutter of the Sony... and well, that's not the greatest if you move around on a board and being hella active. Then there's the threat of having your recordings stopped at any moment due to overheat protection kicking in... that cannot happen to a content creator, sometimes there's no re-dos. Also... when recording in sunlight with the A6500 the screen dims... so if he would be behind the camera filming something, he'd have a hard time seeing what the hell is going on. So yeah... what do you do in that situation? I'd search for the next best thing that you can make work. A reliable camera with front-facing screen that doesn't dim on you, good rolling shutter performance, sensor stabilization. No 4K: no Canon EOS-M. No frontfacing screen/sensor stabilization: no Samsung NX1, no Fujifilm X-T2. So you automagically end up at Panasonic/Olympus that do everything right. Reliable cameras: check. 4K: check. Excellent rolling shutter performance: check. Vari-angle screen: check. Sensor stabilization: check. 'C-AF... well, it already checked so many boxes, let's see if I can make it work'. That's probably the attitude. He just looked objectively, what is the best camera for my needs and I mean, the GH5 is just about the most ideal camera you can think of... and apparently he did make AF work for him (though, we have no way of telling getting those results was an easy task or if like maybe this is 20% of the footage shot that was actually usable and that he had to throw away a lot of good content or had to shoot 10 takes to get one good take...). So this could be a keeper. Until finally someone else with APS-C sensors steps up and makes an E-M1 Mark II/GH5 with APS-C sensor/performance and superb C-AF.
-
Nope, nobody has done that and especially at that pricepoint that's not going to happen anytime soon, because that's like taking a A7SII, already expensive and throwing a bunch of stuff at it... releasing it in a very specialized market with small order quantities... for almost the same price at the A7SII itself. Probably your best bet would be something like a DVX200. http://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/products/ag-dvx200/index.html | https://www.atomos.com/cameras/panasonic-ag-dvx-200 Otherwise... FS5 with external recording/FS7? But at a price...
-
And my point is... there was nothing that put Samsung on the map in the first place. Until the NX1 came along that DID do a lot of things right hardware/feature wise, which is why the Samsung NX1 is now known and GH5 AF basher Max uses a couple of them for example to shoot weddings with. So... I actually wholeheartedly disagree that putting awesome specs in your cameras is a bad move.

I know the actual video market is rather small on the big scheme of things. Yet... everyone pulls if off nontheless... Panasonic, Olympus, Sony, Fujifilm... they're all adapting to fit everyone's needs. I didn't think we'd see an Olympus with 4K or vari-angle screen, but we did. I didn't think Fujifilm would embrace video, but they have. These brands aren't clinging on to traditionalism and are far from being stagnant like Canon and Nikon. Ultimately, evolutionary, adapt or get extinct! Now this might be a solid short term business plan and all this innovation is pretty 'fresh', but are they really planning to keep up their act? I mean, they gotta do what they gotta do, I have the option of not buying their shit, easy as that. But I'd rather they just came through, for everyone's sake.
-
Well, let me ask you this: remember the NX10, NX20 and NX30? Nah, of course you don't really. I bet those even sold less. Samsung is not the 1st thing that pops into mind when you think serious DSLR/mirrorless cameras (well, maybe now), let alone stores having the brand in stock and on display. Nah, people buy Canon/Nikon, because that's on the menu... that's the house recommendation, that's what they order. Doesn't get more simple than that. Everyone and their neigbour's dog shoots a Canon, so obviously it's being established as the 'go-to popular brand'. Doesn't mean that they should stop innovating and stop rivaling other cameras. Samsung's problem was not the hardware or features (that however is starting to get Nikon/Canon's problem now). It's was their image and marketing. But atleast they went out on a bang I guess (if anything, the NX1 put them on the map because of the hardware/features... atleast, just before falling off). Stop while you're ahead.

Why can't we have a mirrorless APS-C Nikon with full readout 4K and all the bells 'n whistles (vari-angle touchscreen, mic/headphone ports, dual cardslot, sensor stabilization, nice EVF, little to no rolling shutter, good heat dissipation, good solid codec/bitrates, high framerate recording, no-crop, crop teleconverter, focus and exposure overlays/aids, etc) already? I'm fine like the NX1, to just have a basic launch selection of lenses, like perhaps a 16-50mm f/2-2.8, 50-150mm f/2.8, 30mm f/2, 45mm f/1.8 & 85mm f/1.4 at launch native to the mirrorless system. Then you can always add an adapter for existing Nikon DX/FX/AI-s etc lenses which there are a nice bunch of and work on expanding the native mirrorless lens collection over time. Now that, would be something I'd buy. This indeed is too oldschool, too traditional... we need forward thinking. Even Fujifilm, a very stills minded brand, is making a swing at it and is imho perhaps the best APS-C mirrorless option to date. Together perhaps with the NX1 still. But they aren't perfect either. Like... a body and hardware implementation like the E-M1 Mark II and GH5 is just so damn sick, they've thought of just about everything and it do have sensor stabilization, almost negligible rolling shutter and no overheating. Plus, a ton of compact lenses. But you know... if they had that... with an APS-C sensor... I'd know where my money's at. But they ain't doing it!

I had designed my business cards myself like two and a half years ago (QR codes on them as well), just before an event where you indeed were expected to trade cards like a Pokémon trainer... then went to the local copy shop to figure out how to print 'em on good quality paper. It was great to have their expertise and I could actually convey what I was going for, try that with the language barrier with Chinese reps. Not to mention you wouldn't quite know the quality and results. And I've been turning to AliExpress and Chinese webshops for years (btw, snagged a YI 4K+ during the last AE sale, curious about that one!), but sometimes you're looking to save a few pennies in the wrong areas. My 2cts.

S-AF and then voice activation control 'Lumix! Re-focus!'. ?
-
Maybe it's the GH5 CN-E (Casey Neistat Edition) with special C-AF profile Panasonic will be charging for as key feature update (like V-Log L).
-
I'm like... ok, I don't remember Casey's vlogs always being purfect, but I still enjoy it, because of the content... then... I started noticing the reflection when he's up-close to the camera. Huh, I thought he went from Canon to the Sony A6500, but that's a vari-angle screen on a DSLR-style body... hum. Does that say 'Lumix'?... must be... 'Canon' surely, right? Too much issues with the A6500, back to the 80D. Wait... there's a 4K option... That really is crisp... how is a Canon that crisp? Unless... it IS a Lumix. Reads the description sees 'NEW NEW CAMERA' linking to the GH5 Amazon link. Isn't that something?!! Just when everybody turned to hating this camera, Casey steps up and shows that content is still king... good equipment doesn't necessarily make great content... good enjoyable content can for sure be had with whatever means you can get your hand on. Of course the best thing is when content & means go hand in hand. What do we think? I saw some out of focus bits, but no real hunting. I'm pretty sure his Canon and Sony had out of focus bits and it never took away from the story. Lens inscriptions make me think he's shooting on the new X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 II

Compact camera for vacation photography and video
Cinegain replied to Fábio Pinto's topic in Cameras
LX100 is about the same size as the GX80 with a pancake lens. Would definitely be a sweet way to go if you can somehow get it within budget. Defo worth it! -
Ah, yeah, that was 'good fun', lol. Luckily I got out pretty quickly, then they pulled the Facebook site, so even 'backers' couldn't inform eachother how things were looking, although I see that apparently they ultimately did give a statement and should've issued refunds last month. Maybe they finally won some money with gambling, it was the plan all along! Though admittedly, the modular design cinema camera was pretty dope. Like a Kinefinity system, but for cheapskates. Maybe Blackmagic could take the concept and run with it.

How's the autofocus on that?
-
He asked if this little Sony camera shot 4K... I mean, even if you're living under a rock... Seemed he portrays the GH5 as the end-all of all cameras and why even look at something else, definitely had his Panasonic blinders on. I mean, he's a Luminary or how you call those, but even Matt or Sean wouldn't act so defensive and dismissive of other brands/cameras. Sure, I agree, the GH5 is top notch and I didn't buy a A6300/6500, Canon with DPAF or whatever because they have their own issues, but no reason to glorify your own camera. A camera is like a human being, flaws included, but ultimately it's all about acceptance. The whole range of GH cameras was known for iffy AF. The GH5 continues the GH legacy, the good and the bad, it's in its DNA. Not sure why suddenly it's such a big shock for people.
-
Wouldn't sweat it too much. Customs and snails are known to be in the way causing unannounced delays. Blame bureaucracy. Pretty sure it will appear out of thin air someday...

You're not expected to dial in your focal length for the stabilization as apparently you're talking about an adapter with electronic interface that allows for communication between camera and lens? Not sure if that's what you meant and why it's greyed out? Can't you access which type of stabilization through the Quickmenu? Otherwise, not sure, I don't have any of the involved items. Could be that they still need to play catch-up as the GH5 is new and I believe the Metabones needed to iron out some kinks as well. (If you tape the electronics you might be able to use it as a full manual set-up with IBIS) Sidenote. How are you finding the focal reducer? From what I've seen previously, the BAVEyes couldn't quite keep up with either dummy adapter from Zhong Yi Lens Turbo II and Metabones. Center sharpness seemed quite decent, but corner sharpness and chromatic aberration was the worst of the bunch.
