I had the BMPCC4K. Sold it. Just wasn't worth the hassle over what I could get done with a Panasonic tbh.

Well, since the GH2 days I've been pretty true to MFT. Skipped the GH3. Then gotten the OM-D E-M1. Then the GH4. D5300. Z CAM E1. BMPCC. G7. YI M1. GX80. G80. G9. GH5. BMPCC4K. GX9. The oddball was the D5300, but I sold it due to its traditional DSLR quirks. A bunch I sold again, some are collecting dust. Still actually have the GH2. For nostalgia's sake, I can't get rid of it. Primarily these days I use the G9 and GH5 when the objective is to shoot some schtuff. Whenever the occassion is more casual, like city trips in the company of people that might not be the most patient, the GX9 will do. The steps GH2 < GH4 < GH5 have been quite remarkable and I really don't want to get myself into fullframe systems. So I for sure hope MFT really ain't dead yet and that the GH6 will be marvelous. Maybe they'll drop the top line separation and encapsulate the G9/GH5(S)' individual strengths in a single body.

Touché. They should! I think the future is in individual photosite gain with low and high ISO capability so you never crush or blow out information.

Well... not only is it specifically designed for 4/3" 4:3 sensors, it is specifically designed for a mirrorless system. That means the transmission distance between lens and sensor is very very short. So, you can't just slap on an EF mount with a huge flange distance like you could the other way around (where the adapter works like a macro tube, just bridging the gap). If they would've designed it for EF so it could've been adapted to MFT, it would've required an unnecessarily bulky and heavier design. By designing it specifically for a popular range of anamorphic shooting cameras, including the Panasonics that even have specific anamorphic modes with in-camera de-squeeze, they're keeping the lens no more bigger than it really needs to be. One area where they can really set themselves apart from the competition (well, except perhaps Sirui now; also regarding prices) and would be very benificial for gimbal use, as size and weight quickly becomes a factor there. Sirui got asked a lot to 'please do EF mount!' as well. Same problem, so we won't see this very 50mm f/1.8 1.33x anamorphic get an EF mount. But they said they'll see what can be done in the future in terms of new developments. Of course EF or Nikon F mount is the more versatile, I get that. There's a bunch of native EF cams in the industry. Also allows adapting to any mirrorless mount. Whereas with mirrorless mounts, unless it's an interchangeable one, it's picking and choosing and you're stuck with it. There however, you can adapt MFT to both E-mount and Z-mount as it turns out.

Hum, never really paid attention to focus breathing with my Leica Summicron-R 35 & 50mm f/2 E55 primes. They don't get much attention these days I feel like, but like the Contax Yashica Zeiss lenses, these were quite popular to have a set of for cinema shooters. You can get the old school Leitz ones at a steal (well, for being a Leica). Maybe something to look into. First thing that came to mind when you mentioned you'd ideally have 35/50mm f/2.

You're so out of touch. Hardly anyone rides a Boosted Board anymore. They're all about the OneWheel now. ? Lol, every YouTuber that wanted to be a Casey now is a Peter/Matti. Indeed. A lot of emobility transporters, ripped jeans & coffee. And obviously shooting Canon. Ugh. We do see people pushing their paid LUT packs less now these days it seems. Remember when everyone and their neighbour's dog felt like selling us on their shit LUTs? But it sorta all has become much of the same. I guess they figured 'hey, this person figured out the YouTube algorithm, let's copy & paste the formula'. You know. Back in the day we grew up wanting to become a fireman or astronaut. Now people just want to be instafamous. Why learn a profession when all you need is how to take a good selfie and make a clickbait title pretty much. Don't know. We live in weird times. People should just be themselves, get a solid foundation and job and then just shoot videos if they find it worth their effort and gives them enjoyment... that maybe one day leads to some other oppertunities, but you just don't want to set that as a solid goal I think. People should just stay authentic and not chase what others are doing.

The other day I was looking up at people who were testing the new Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III with the new firmware updates... ... there's still, on the daily, tons and tons of people making Mark II unboxing videos and reviews!1!! I never understood unboxing videos to begin with, mind you. Let alone finding it interesting years later when all's said and done.

Simon Cade, DSLRGuide, the little chap who used to always shoot on a 550D was sharing as he learned and branched out. Right now he only posts a vid every few months or so when a sponsor of his pushes him to finish one before a deadline. Bit of a shame. YouTube used to be Skillshare. A place where you'd get wiser. Where people were genuinely excited to share wisdom and had fun making videos they cared about themselves. Hardly the case anymore these days (though still a few around, luckily). All about creating a brand for yourself raking in that Googoo money. Might be a generational thing. People don't really want to know about the artform of shooting video anymore. It's about how to get results the easiest. Gadgets and gizmos play a big part in that of course. But that kinda shifts the focus away from the creative side... for which that should actually open up some capacity for due to these advancements, but kinda seems nobody is taking an interest in (in turn forcing the channels wanting to make a living offa being a YouTuber to shift more towards being gear reviewers; which doesn't necessarily leave them any happier. But atleast with a wallet full of stacks, so who's complaining).

There's this one guy I follow that's always been transparant and sharing of his earnings, which gives an interesting insight: I suppose the same goes for a whole lot of other YouTubers. Hustle. Be smart. Find some side gigs. Profit. The most successful YouTube channel apparently is this kid Ryan that plays with toys... 23M+ subs and $26M yearly earnings. Fanbases are pretty mindblowing as well. Just take a look at the whole beauty guru thing on YouTube, it's insane. Social influence = monie$. Cringefest. That Jeffree Star fella has an estimate networth of $75M in 2019... probably more like $200M in 2020. Like... whut. lol There's money in YT no doubt. A little less perhaps for camera channels, because not enough people might care enough to geek over that kinda thing. But just the amount of sponsored video. I can't take any more Squarespace, Skillshare, Freshbooks, NordVPN, Audible, etc sponsored videos. You have YouTube Premium to fence off ads... and then you still need to skip the timeline! Ugh. I mean, I get it... but, argh. And with YouTube 'celeb' status, like red carpet parties where actual celebs get free 'swag bags' with like fashion and electronics (headphones for example), there's freebies too. Like... two or three years ago I suddenly started noticing people wearing 'Canada Goose' jackets all of a sudden. Apparently one of their ploys was to hand out their parkas to Hollywood celebrities. They'd get photographed wearing them = awesome promotion. In the camera world you'd get sponsored with free gear for promoting a certain product, store or service (plus possible sponsorship moniez; but usually not because YouTubers often claim not to receive straight up money (but they'll happily take the free gear as payment (ok, sometimes just 'on loan'), so...?) and can say whatever they want: give their honest opinion. Of course... if you want to stay in the good graces of the company... you're likely not to mention any downsides and just highlight the positives, that way you're not exactly lying, just withholding the complete truth; of course we see this happen in more industries... like car journalism where getting exclusive early insights is crucial). I didn't know there were MFT to Z-mount adapters out there. I was aware of the MFT to E-mount, but this? Hum. Who would've thought MFT would give you the most versatile mount? xD

A lot of the time in promotional clips the footage being displayed isn't even shot with the product advertised... and they show how you can use it to vlog... but I've yet to see anyone actually share any actual vlog footage, pointing it at themselves, which adds to my suspicion.

Tricopters have been a thing... Was already wondering how the V-Coptr would turn out when it was teased... As an aviation enthusiast (and professional) I always liked the V-22 Osprey. That 249gr concept did seem a little bouncy/jiggly up there, so I'm not sure it's the best ever for stable video, but we'll see.
